    Open Season for Colds-Have One

    Get PDF
October first initiated the open season for colds, so you may catch them any time now. There will be five open days on pheasants this fall; the duck season will last until January 1, but the cold season will probably last all thru the winter until late in the spring. Some individuals with poaching instincts even catch them right in mid-summer, but it isn\u27t supposed to be done, and the guilty ones usually suffer quite a severe penalty

    Tell Me a Story...

    Get PDF
It is not an uncommon occurrence for a child to leave his toys, and, bringing his picture book, ask for a story. Then - what to tell him? Young children enjoy stories with much repetition of phrases in them. It is such fun to hear how the horses go cloppity-clop on the pavement, and how the kitten goes meow, meow for its saucer of cream. They learn to watch for the places where such phrases occur, and their little faces beam as occasionally they vounteer to repeat them with the story teller. It is in this way that their vocabularies may be increased as they hear strange words again and again

    When the Family Is Large...

Large families are fine; uncles, aunts and cousins are great assets at times, especially if they are well distributed over the country. I heard a girl remark the other day that she could tour clear to New York without spending any money for meals or lodging, and by having luncheon and dinner rather close one day and working in a couple of second cousins, she could travel out to the west coast the same way. She comes of a prolific race, and she surely has her family well distributed
