Kosmos, the new cultural project of the University of Pavia for its Natural History collections Kosmos, the new Natural History Museum, adopted for its new exhibition strategies dedicated to the accessibility of the collections. The gallery was therefore enriched with exhibits and games with the aim of conveying scientific content in an engaging form. For guided tours and workshops Kosmos makes use of the collaboration of ADMaiora, a company that provides educational services. Together with the museum’ staff ADMaiora has developed an educational offer capable of making museum content accessible at all levels, including audiences who present disabilities. To support the visit few didactic kits have been added and a new palaeontology laboratory kit for small groups with cognitive disabilities has been created. Finally, a "social history" document that adopt Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) was drawn up to prepare children with specific relational disabilities to the visi

Fondato da Lazzaro Spallanzani nel 1771 nell’ambitodelle riforme asburgiche di Maria Teresa d’Austria, il museopropone oggi un’esplorazione del mondo naturale attraversoun moderno allestimento. L’inaugurazione del nuovo percorsoespositivo, avvenuta il 21 settembre 2019, ha rappresentatoun momento decisivo nella vicenda del Museo di StoriaNaturale dell’Università di Pavia, restituendo alla comunitàaccademica e alla cittadinanza una delle collezioni più rappresentative del patrimonio scientifico dell’università, nelprestigioso contesto di Palazzo Botta

Il museo incontra la città

The Museum meets the city The Natural History Museum of the University of Pavia delivers to the citizens a wide range of events outside the museum building. The Museum is well aware that there are several kind of visitors with different needs and knowledge. An ineluctable and unavoidable contact with the people, to be met and pursued with attractive initiatives and new points of view to the Museum itself. From autumn 2016 to summer 2017 the Museum has undertaken, on the basis of requests expressed by the loyal public, a strategy of connection with the non-university reality to strengthen its presence on the territory. Themed openings, dedicated events and proposals outside the physical walls of the Museum have attracted hundreds of visitors, despite the introduction of a ticket, demonstrating the winning force of leaving the ivory tower and making the museum available to the public

Uno squalo fossile protagonista a Kosmos di una sezione espositiva permanente

Il ruolo dei musei nell’educazione è un tema cruciale e rappresenta l’occasione per mostrare come sia possibile valorizzare, in un percorso espositivo permanente, reperti inizialmente utilizzati per scopi di ricerca. Lo squalo fossile trovato nel 1878 presso Castellavazzo (BL) è stato recuperato e studiato con tecniche moderne che hanno permesso di ricostruire dimensioni ed età dell’animale in vita. La concomitanza di queste indagini con l’allestimento di Kosmos ha spinto i conservatori a scegliere il reperto come protagonista della sala di paleontologia con l’intento di condividere con il pubblico alcuni aspetti dei metodi di ricerca adottati in questo ambito. Lo squalo fossile nella sua nuova sede ben rappresenta la missione dei musei: conservazione, divulgazione e ricerca
