Meson Cloud of the Nucleon in Polarized Semi-Inclusive Deep-Inelastic Scattering
We investigate the possibility of identifying an explicit pionic component of
the nucleon through measurements of polarized baryon fragments
produced in deep-inelastic leptoproduction off polarized protons, which may
help to identify the physical mechanism responsible for the breaking of the
Gottfried sum rule. The pion-exchange model predicts highly correlated
polarizations of the and target proton, in marked contrast with
the competing diquark fragmentation process. Measurement of asymmetries in
polarized production may also reveal the presence of a kaon cloud in
the nucleon.Comment: 23 pages REVTeX, 7 uuencoded figures, accepted for publication in

HEALTHCARE PROCESS OF THE PATIENT WITH ACUTE PANCREATITIS
Acute pancreatitis is a sudden pancreatic inflammation occurring in mild or severe form. This sudden inflammation in almost 80% of admission to the hospital is attributed to the existence of gallstones or drinking alcohol. The gallstones as a cause of Acute pancreatitis are 1.5 times more common in women, while alcohol as a cause is present men appears six times more than in women. Gallstones usually close the pancreatic opening or stop for a while in Oddies sphincter causing it to inflate ,while daily alcohol consumption also leads to clogging of small lines. Strong pain usually are occurring suddnely after eating excessive meals or presence of alcohol in the upper mid-section of the abdomen. Apart pain is acute, patients are describeing as a stabbing kind of pain that is spreading in their back. There can be nausea and vomiting, in most cases accompanied by temperature. The patient is coming to an emergency with severe pain that does not diminish and undergoes further diagnosis. Laboratory examinations can not confirm the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis but elevated pancreatic enzyme levels can be supported by this diagnosis. Further radiological examinations (X-ray abdomena, computerized tomography) are proveing the possibility of gallstones as well as changes in the size and structure of the pancreas. With established diagnosis of acute pancreatitis, a person is hospitalized in intensice care where further food and drink intake is discontinued in order to reduce further enzyme production in the pancreas. All the necessary fluid and other nutrients are compensated by the intravenous. Throughout the process of treatment, role of nurse is also crucial to notice possible changes that may occur in the patient, such as decreased urination, difficulty breathing and stagnation or aggravation of pain intensity despite analgesic therapy
Autoantibodies against type I IFNs in patients with life-threatening COVID-19
Interindividual clinical variability in the course of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection is vast. We report that at least 101 of 987 patients with life-threatening coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia had neutralizing immunoglobulin G (IgG) autoantibodies (auto-Abs) against interferon-w (IFN-w) (13 patients), against the 13 types of IFN-a (36), or against both (52) at the onset of critical disease; a few also had auto-Abs against the other three type I IFNs. The auto-Abs neutralize the ability of the corresponding type I IFNs to block SARS-CoV-2 infection in vitro. These auto-Abs were not found in 663 individuals with asymptomatic or mild SARS-CoV-2 infection and were present in only 4 of 1227 healthy individuals. Patients with auto-Abs were aged 25 to 87 years and 95 of the 101 were men. A B cell autoimmune phenocopy of inborn errors of type I IFN immunity accounts for life-threatening COVID-19 pneumonia in at least 2.6% of women and 12.5% of men
Global urban environmental change drives adaptation in white clover
Urbanization transforms environments in ways that alter biological evolution. We examined whether urban environmental change drives parallel evolution by sampling 110,019 white clover plants from 6169 populations in 160 cities globally. Plants were assayed for a Mendelian antiherbivore defense that also affects tolerance to abiotic stressors. Urban-rural gradients were associated with the evolution of clines in defense in 47% of cities throughout the world. Variation in the strength of clines was explained by environmental changes in drought stress and vegetation cover that varied among cities. Sequencing 2074 genomes from 26 cities revealed that the evolution of urban-rural clines was best explained by adaptive evolution, but the degree of parallel adaptation varied among cities. Our results demonstrate that urbanization leads to adaptation at a global scale
Modelling of erosion-corrosion processes in energy conversion systems : summary report
Summary report describing the modelling of erosion-corrosion processes in energy conversion systems
From lake deposits to fluvial floods at the eastern delta front of Jezero crater, Mars
International audienceThe Perseverance rover landed on the floor of Jezero crater on 18 February 2021. The landing site is located ~2.2 km from the SE-facing erosional scarp of the western fan deposits. Images obtained using the Mastcam-Z camera and the Remote Micro-Imager (RMI) of the SuperCam instrument provided the first Mars ground-based observations of this western fan. These images show a deltaic architecture consistent with a paleolake, but at a level ~100 m lower than expected, suggestive of a closed system [1]. Here we report new observations made during the ârapid traverseâ in March-April 2022, a period during which the rover traveled fast along the eastern and southeastern side of Jezero fan taking only a few remote sensing observations on the way
RcoA has pleiotropic effects on aspergillus nidulans cellular development
The definitive version is available at www.blackwell-synergy.comAspergillus nidulans rcoA encodes a member of the WD repeat family of proteins. The RcoA protein shares sequence similarity with other members of this protein family, including the Saccharomyces cerevisiae Tup1p and Neurospora crassa RCO1. Tup1p is involved in negative regulation of an array of functions including carbon catabolite repression. RCO1 functions in regulating pleiotropic developmental processes, but not carbon catabolite repression. In A. nidulans, deletion of rcoA (DrcoA), a recessive mutation, resulted in gross defects in vegetative growth, asexual spore production and sterigmatocystin (ST) biosynthesis. Expression of the asexual and ST pathway-specific regulatory genes, brlA and aflR, respectively, but not the signal transduction genes (i.e. flbA, fluG or fadA) regulating brlA and aflR expression was delayed (brlA) or eliminated (aflR) in a DrcoA strain. Overexpression of aflR in a DrcoA strain could not rescue normal expression of downstream targets of AflR. CreAdependent carbon catabolite repression of starch and ethanol utilization was only weakly affected in a DrcoA strain. The strong role of RcoA in development, vegetative growth and ST production, compared with a relatively weak role in carbon catabolite repression, is similar to the role of RCO1 in N. crassa.Julie Hicks, Robin A.
