    Knowledge, Atitude and Perception regarding National Health Programmes among villagers of Chauras, Tehri-Garhwal, Uttarakhand

    Background and Objective: Since India became independent, several measures have been undertaken by the national government to improve the health of the people. Prominent among these measures are the national health programmes. The main objective of these National Health programmes are protection and promotion of national and individual health. The main objective of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and perception regarding various national health programmes among the villagers. Methods: It is a descriptive and observational study. The study subjects comprised 273 respondents belonging to 15 to 64 years age group. The collection tool used was a pre designed questionnaire, which was pre-tested. Results: 60% of respondents were adults, about 16 percent were educated up to primary level and more than 40% belonged to scheduled castes. Nearly 20% were aware about National AIDS Control Programme and 6.59% had clear knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Only 4.02% knew about the national vector borne disease control programme and 24% women clearly knew about exclusive breast feeding. Peripheral health workers were the most common source of information regarding these programmes. 64% of respondents opined that these national health programmes are good. Conclusion: Low level of knowledge was observed among the respondents regarding National Health Programmes

    Human Dipylidiasis: A Case Report of Dipylidium caninum Infection from Karimnagar.

    Dipylidium caninum also refered to as the double-pored tapeworm is a cyclophyllidean cestode that commonly infects dogs and cats. Mammals act as definite hosts with intermediate hosts being dog and cat flea, the Ctenocephalides canis and Ctenocephalides catis respectively. The dog lice, Trichodectes canis and human flea (Pulex irritans) also transmit Dipylidium caninum infection. Infants and young children are at high risk of acquiring infection. Majority of the infections are due to close association with pet dog and cats. Humans are accidental hosts who acquire infection by ingestion of infected dog and cat fleas. We report a rare case of Dipylidium caninum infection in a 9 year old girl who could have acquired infection by consuming food contaminated with infected fleas

Neuroinflammation is a typical feature of most neurodegenerative diseases that leads to an array of pathological changes within the affected areas in the brain. The neurodegeneration in HD is also caused by aberrant immune response in the presence of aggregated mutant huntingtin protein. The effects of immune activation in HD nervous system are a relatively unexplored area of research. This paper summarises immunological features associated with development and progression of HD.U.     Energy and environmental issues are two of the greatest challenges facing the world today. In response to energy needs and environmental concerns, renewable energy technologies are now considered the future technologies of choice. Renewable energy is produced from natural sources that are clean and free; however, it is widely accepted that renewable energy is not a solution without challenges. An example of this can be seen in the UK, where there is much interest amongst generation developers in the construction of new large scale onshore and offshore wind farms, especially in Scotland. The stability of electric power systems is also an important issue. It is important to have full knowledge of the system and to be able to predict the behaviour under different situations is an important objective. As a result, several industrial grade power system simulator tools have been developed in order to estimate the behaviour of the electric power system under certain conditions. This paper presents a reduced Great Britain (GB) system model for stability analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC. The reduced model is based upon a future GB transmission system model and, hence, contains different types and mix of generation, HVDC transmission lines and additional interconnection.     Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease characterized by inflammation, demyelination, gliosis (scarring), and neuronal loss; the course can be relapsing-remitting or progressive. Manifestations of MS vary from a benign illness to a rapidly evolving and incapacitating disease requiring profound lifestyle adjustments. We report a 24 year old female who presented with right internuclear ophthalmoplegia with right lower motor neuron facial nerve palsy which is called eight and half syndrome. The etiology in our patient was multiple sclerosis which was confirmed by radio-imaging studies. Patient improved on pulse therapy of methyl prednisolone and tapering dose of steroids

    Exploring the possibility of enhancing the figure-of-merit ( >> 2) of Na0.74_{0.74}CoO2_{2}: A combined experimental and theoretical study

    Search of new thermoelectric (TE) materials with high \textit{figure-of-merit} (ZT) is always inspired the researcher in TE field. Here, we present a combined experimental and theoretical study of TE properties of Na0.74_{0.74}CoO2_{2} compound in high-temperature region. The experimental Seebeck coefficient (S) is found to vary from 64 to 118 μ\muV/K in the temperature range 300620300-620 K. The positive values of S are indicating the dominating p-type behaviour of the compound. The observed value of thermal conductivity (κ\kappa) is \sim 2.2 W/m-K at 300 K. In the temperature region 300430300-430 K, the value of κ\kappa increases up to \sim 2.6 W/m-K and then decreases slowly till 620 K with the corresponding value of \sim 2.4 W/m-K. We have also carried out the theoretical calculations and the best matching between experimental and calculated values of transport properties are observed in spin-polarized calculation within DFT+\textit{U} by chosen \textit{U} = 4 eV. The maximum calculated value of ZT is found to be \sim 0.67 at 1200 K for p-type conduction. Our computational study suggests that the possibility of n-type behaviour of the compound which can lead to a large value of ZT at higher temperature region. Electron doping of \sim 5.1×\times1020^{20} cm3^{-3} is expected to give rise the high ZT value of \sim 2.7 at 1200 K. Using these temperature-dependent ZT values, we have calculated the maximum possible values of efficiency (η\eta) of thermoelectric generator (TEG) made by p and n-type Na0.74_{0.74}CoO2_{2}. The present study suggests that one can get the efficiency of a TE cell as high as \sim 11%\% when the cold and hot end temperature are fixed at 300 K and 1200 K, respectively. Such high values of ZT and efficiency suggest that Na0.74_{0.74}CoO2_{2} can be used as a potential candidate for high-temperature TE applications
