A Trusted Model for Secure Cloud Environment

    Get PDF
Cloud computing is an emerging technology that gives a tremendous changes in IT industry. It has ultimate features like multitenancy, elasticity, pay-per-use, self provision etc. But the customers are still hesitant to adopt cloud computing due to security and privacy. In this paper we propose a trust model which secures client’s information from both insiders and outsiders. In this model calculation of trust is based on their compliance report which has been promised in service level agreement. Keywords: cloud computing, trust, compliance, SLA, symmetric encryption

Histopathological evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding with immunohistochemical study of significant estrogen receptor expression in endometrium of women with different age groups

Background: Abnormal uterine bleeding is symptom, not disease. Bleeding per vaginum is labelled to be pathological when there is constant irregularity in pattern and flow of bleeding, altered duration or increased amount of menstrual blood. Histopathological examination of endometrium biopsies remains a gold standard diagnostic tool. Methods: A prospective study was done on 150 patients presenting with AUB over the period January 2022 to December 2022 in the department of pathology, Hind institute of medical sciences, Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, India. The sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin and special stain estrogen receptor was used. Results: Majority of the patients were seen in the perimenopausal age group and most common complaint was menorrhagia in 73 patients (48%). The commonest pathology observed in our study was proliferative phase endometrium in 48 patients (32%). Most of the endometrial carcinoma (4%) were presented after the age of 50 years. The association between histopathological patterns and estrogen receptor category were found to be statistically significant as the p<0.05. Conclusions: Disease burden on a global scale is witnessed by women affected by AUB thus having a detrimental impact. Accurate diagnosis of AUB in women over the age of 35yrs is important to rule out preneoplastic lesions and malignancies so that surgical interventions can be avoided by initiating proper medical management. Comparing the hyperplastic and neoplastic endometrium to that of the proliferative phase, ER expression was lower. Endometrial carcinoma with advanced stage often lacks the expression of the receptors

Hygiene practices and awareness regarding Milk borne diseases (MBD) among dairy workers in unorganized urban settings of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India

Background: Dairy work is thought to be predominantly a rural occupation. However, due to preferences we see a lot of urban residents consume fresh milk and hence, few people even in the urban areas take up cattle rearing as a cost effective profession. In the midst of much talked re-emerging diseases, caused by close habitation of animals and man, it would be very relevant to see living conditions of these populations and their hygiene practices in a space compromised scenario. In urban settings, they stay in close proximity and due to socioeconomic conditions, dairy workers in do not have appropriate amenities to tend on the cattle, clean or even scope for proper waste disposal. This in nutshell, leads to a disease enabling environment and the study aims at reviewing these living conditions. Besides, an assessment of health conditions of the dairy workers, their awareness regarding the milk borne diseases(MBD) was done. The findings helped generate recommendations for improvement of the profession and ultimately the quality of the milk. Objectives:1) Assess the hygiene practices during the stages of milk collection, storage and transport of milk among the sampled dairy workers from urban unorganized settings of Bhubaneswar. 2) Assess awareness of these workers regarding milk borne diseases. Methodology: This cross?sectional survey was part of a larger study and was conducted in unorganized sector of dairy workers in Bhubaneswar. 60 dairy households were surveyed and from each household, 2 members actively involved in dairy work were selected. The study tool was a semi structured, mixed questionnaire. The questionnaire had 3 sections; A was regarding household information(General sociodemographic details and Housing conditions for 60 HHs); B was to elicit the hygiene status of dairy workers(n=120) during each step of their work, their milk handling details during milk collection, storage and transportation; C had questions to assess the awareness of dairy worker regarding MBD. Results: Hygiene practices were very dismal at all points like milking, storage and transportation. Only 5.0% dairy households practised cleaning udder twice- prior to and after milking. Only 35% households kept the milk storage containers covered. 44.2% workers agreed that “MBD” is a community health problem. On general examination, pallor and icterus was found among workers. This strongly brings out that this group not only have the potential to be infected by zoonotic diseases, but can also transmit it to through the milk they are selling. A felt need is assessed for these workers in terms of creating standards of hygiene practices of cattle and milk handling and also impart them training on improving their occupational practices

Mobile phones are very much prevalent in today?s generation. They can be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. The traditional methods which are used for the diagnosis of the vocal cord disorder are usually invasive, expensive and slow. Sometimes, they are also annoying. So the purpose of this paper is to design a non-invasive technique for the feature extraction of speech signal which can later be used for the vocal cord disorder diagnosis which would be cheaper, faster and repeatable. This paper summarizes a study of the mobile app based technique used to extract features of a speech signal with an ultimate aim to discriminate and detect vocal cord disorder. The study is concentrated in the analysis of relevance of a set of features obtained from the analysis of phonated speech, specifically an open vowel as \a\. The features which are extracted for the mobile app are frequency, pitch, amplitude and jitter

Respiratory health of the small scale dairy workers of urban Bhubaneswar, Odisha

Background: Human in close inhabitation with the cattle due to unventilated or inadequately ventilated establishments or inadequate living space, is always at a risk of sustaining infection from the cattle through different modes of disease transmission. This study hints at the increased incidences in respiratory infections among dairy workers in unorganized and small scale dairy farms due to amendable unhygienic practices. Methods: This survey was part of a larger study, conducted after ethics approval. Number of households involved in dairy work surveyed were 60. From every house, two members actively involved in dairy work were chosen and total respondents were 120. The study tool was a semi structured, mixed questionnaire. Results: 67.5% dairy workers self-reported occurrence of respiratory symptoms which included the complaints like cough, breathing difficulty on exertion. None of the dairy workers were vaccinated against any milk borne disease. Conclusion: The housing, civic amenities accessed by them and their awareness are probably the main reasons for wide variety of self perpetuated practices and deviations of standard requirement.Use of protective gear (gloves, caps, masks) should be strictly emphasized and popularized

Food Nanotechnologies: Purchasing a Double Edge Sword

    Get PDF
Rapid development of nanotechnology has revolutionsed various areas of conventional food science and food industry. The novel properties of nanoparticles (NPs) have led to increasing application of nanotechnology in food industry. Nanofood market have a variety of products like the creamy ice-cream, drinks with no fat, enhanced flavour with nutrients and better textured, coloured and fresh looking food. Continuous monitoring for food spoilage or contamination is possible too. Nanotechnology has transformed the food industries which claim health benefits along with better taste. With the increasing use of NPs especially in food products, where humans are in close contact of the engineered nanomaterials (NMs), it is important to ensure safety before use. Bio-nano interactions often result in novel reaction and formation of products leading to toxicity. NPs mediated toxicity mainly includes inflammation, oxidative damage and genotoxicity. Prolong use of these particles can cause detrimental effects on health. Presently, due to lack of appropriate guidelines and regulations for food nanotechnology there are uncertainties regarding risk identification. Hence, it is essential to evaluate the consequences of this technology in terms of general public and occupational health risks associated with the manufacture, use and disposal of NMs, before instigating the same in day to day use
