Background: Epidemiologists and social scientists have devoted increasing attention to studying care seeking behavior associatedwith two leading causes of death namely acute respiratory infections and diarrhea. Objective: This study was planned to assess andcompare the health care seeking behavior of urban and rural population in two districts, one with better and other with poor healthparameters. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was planned in the state of Uttarakhand to assess the differences in careseeking behavior in its urban and rural population. Data were collected from two districts namely Dehradun and Uttarkashi. Mothers(140) having children up to 5 years of age were interviewed in both the districts and questionnaire was administered to evaluate thecare seeking behavior among mothers. Results: Children <1 year and more than 3 years were reported to fall ill more than childrenbetween 1 and 3 years in both Dehradun and Uttarakashi, with fever, cough, cold, diarrhea and vomiting, and pneumonia as the mostcommon reported diseases. The average number of symptoms care seeking pattern and hospital treatment was higher in Dehradundespite a similar level of education of mothers in both the regions. Conclusion: Dehradun, having better health facilities, could addressthe concerns in health of children

Gasserian ganglion metastases of oral squamous cell carcinoma in the absence of loco-regional metastases masquerading as trigeminal neuralgia

    Get PDF
We presented an unusual case of a 43-year-old man presenting with symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia with a clinico-radiological diagnosis of maxillary nerve schwannoma. Surgical excision and histopathology revealed a diagnosis of metastases of squamous cell carcinoma to Gasserian ganglion. On further investigation, the primary tumour was detected in the right alveolar region of mandible. Our purpose of presenting this case was to make the clinicians aware that all cases presenting with trigeminal neuralgia may not be benign and may be the sole presentation of brain metastases of oral cancer without the loco-regional spread

Background: Objective of study was to evaluate the effect of prenatal yoga on maternal gestational weight gain (GWG) and psychological stress in pregnancy (PSS) and to evaluate the effect of prenatal yoga on labour outcomes. Methods: Prospective randomized controlled trial conducted at AIIMS, New Delhi between May 2020-December 2021. Sixty women each were recruited in the yoga and control group. Women in the yoga group attended 60 minutes supervised yoga sessions followed by self-sessions. Women in the control group received routine antenatal care along with 30 minutes per day of walking and dietary counselling. The assessment was done for the weight(WT), dietary intake (D) and perceived stress score (PSS) at the time of recruitment (WT1, D1, PSS1), 28 weeks (WT2, D2, PSS2) and 36 weeks (WT3, D3, PSS3) and the results were then compared. Results: At recruitment all the parameters in both groups were comparable. The difference in mean and difference in percentage in terms of gestational weight gain (GWG) at recruitment and at 36 weeks was statistically significant (p-value=0.027). The per cent weight gain in the Yoga group was significantly low (p value=0.048). The control group experienced more amount of stress both at 28 weeks (p-value = 0.021) and 36 weeks (p-value <0.0001). The difference in mean and difference in percentage in terms of PSS1 and PSS2 (p-value=0.011), PSS2 and PSS3 (p-value=0.0001) PSS1 and PSS 3 (p-value=0.0001). Labour outcomes were comparable between both groups. Conclusions: Yoga helps in controlling excessive GWG and helps prevent many adverse feto-maternal outcomes associated with obesity

Securing Cloud from Tampering and Duplication

    Get PDF
Cloud computing is the most emerging technology today which is used by most of the social media sites to store the data. The data stored on the cloud is private data of the user so it must not be tampered by other entities. The previous system has worked on reducing the storage space by copying and archiving data but on the cost of reduced performance rate. We propose a system to enhance the storage space by performing deduplication on data and shuffling the data, between the number of directories within cloud after particular interval of time to avoid the tracking of data to enhance the security. The backup of the data will be taken timely into the back up directory. The proposed system will provide ease to use the cloud

ODIN: Where Do Lyman-alpha Blobs Live? Contextualizing Blob Environments within the Large-Scale Structure

While many Lyman-alpha Blobs (LABs) are found in and around several well-known protoclusters at high redshift, how they trace the underlying large-scale structure is still poorly understood. In this work, we utilize 5,352 Lyman-alpha emitters (LAEs) and 129 LABs at z=3.1 identified over a ∌\sim 9.5 sq. degree area in early data from the ongoing One-hundred-deg2^2 DECam Imaging in Narrowbands (ODIN) survey to investigate this question. Using LAEs as tracers of the underlying matter distribution, we identify overdense structures as galaxy groups, protoclusters, and filaments of the cosmic web. We find that LABs preferentially reside in regions of higher-than-average density and are located in closer proximity to overdense structures, which represent the sites of protoclusters and their substructures. Moreover, protoclusters hosting one or more LABs tend to have a higher descendant mass than those which do not. Blobs are also strongly associated with filaments of the cosmic web, with ∌\sim 70% of the population being within a projected distance of 2.4 pMpc from a filament. We show that the proximity of LABs to protoclusters is naturally explained by their association with filaments as large cosmic structures are where many filaments converge. The contiguous wide-field coverage of the ODIN survey allows us for the first time to firmly establish a connection between LABs as a population and their environment.Comment: 24 pages, 17 figures; submitted to Ap

Precise Size Control in Microgel Synthesis for “Designer Polydispersites”

    Get PDF
The goal of this project was to synthesize a series of monodisperse microgel populations with slightly different average radii. The Lyon group has previously shown that colloidal crystals assembled from hydrogel microparticles (microgels) are extremely tolerant to defects in the form of larger microgel "dopants". To investigate the role of polydispersity in general on crystallization, and to explore the limits of defect tolerance, we have undertaken the synthesis of microgels composed of NIPAM (N-isopropylacrylamide) cross linked with BIS (N,N’-methylene bisacrylamide) over a range of particle sizes. These dispersions can then be mixed to form dispersions of arbitrary or “designer” polydispersity. These samples will then be analyzed via optical microscopy and neutron scattering in collaboration with the Fernandez-Nieves group.Andrew Lyon - Faculty Mento

Not AvailableNon-ruminant livestock farming like piggery holds tremendous scope for solving the problem of unemployment for the youth while generating a steady source of income in uncertain times by making them Atm-Nirbhar or self-reliant. The present study attempted an overall analysis of the income and employment generation among the pig entrepreneurs of Pashu-Vigyan Incubator. These piggery entrepreneurs were the ones who had attended the Piggery Entrepreneurship Development Program at Agri-Business Incubator IVRI. The study revealed that the average employment generation for family and hired labour were 68.72 and 374.98 man-days respectively and a noteworthy overall employment generation (average of 245 man-days/labour) was seen due to pig enterprises. Substantial change in annual income of the entrepreneurs was observed owing to piggery farming. Majority of them (72.50%) were earning profit from piggery. Almost half of them (44.82%) were making medium level of profit (5-10 lakhs) and almost one third were even earning profit upto 50 lakhs annually. An average profit of Rs. 5,24,382 from piggery enterprises was elucidated and the benefit-cost ratio (BCR) was found to be 1.33.Not Availabl

Background: Identification and differentiation of stromal hard tissue components is a challenging task. Numerous methods of demonstrating these components have been worked upon in the past. Although some of the methods have been successful, there are many drawbacks of employing them. The need of the hour, therefore is to develop and use a simple, rapid and cost-effective method of identifying stromal hard tissues as they may signify an important change in the diagnosis of the pathology. Our aim is therefore to observe the usability of tetrachromic VOF stain over Hematoxylin and Eosin and Masson's Trichrome in routinely encountered head and neck pathologies. Materials and Method: Routine cases such as Central and peripheral ossifying fibromas, osteomas, giant cell granulomas, osteomyelitis and malignancies like osteosarcomas were retrieved from the department archives and 3 sections from each block were prepared to stain with H and E, Masson's trichrome and modified tetrachromic VOF stains respectively using standard staining protocol. Results: Tetrachromic VOF takes an upper hand in stromal hard tissue differentiation irrespective of the pathology. Conclusion: Modified tetrachromic VOF is simple, cost-effective method and can be employed for diagnosis of cases with hard tissue differentiation within the stroma on routine basis
