Genuine phase diffusion of a Bose-Einstein condensate in the microcanonical ensemble: A classical field study
Within the classical field model, we find that the phase of a Bose-Einstein
condensate undergoes a true diffusive motion in the microcanonical ensemble,
the variance of the condensate phase change between time zero and time
growing linearly in . The phase diffusion coefficient obeys a simple scaling
law in the double thermodynamic and Bogoliubov limit. We construct an
approximate calculation of the diffusion coefficient, in fair agreement with
the numerical results over the considered temperature range, and we extend this
approximate calculation to the quantum field.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure
Detecting phonons and persistent currents in toroidal Bose-Einstein condensates by means of pattern formation
We theoretically investigate the dynamic properties of a Bose-Einstein
condensate in a toroidal trap. A periodic modulation of the transverse
confinement is shown to produce a density pattern due to parametric
amplification of phonon pairs. By imaging the density distribution after free
expansion one obtains i) a precise determination of the Bogoliubov spectrum and
ii) a sensitive detection of quantized circulation in the torus. The parametric
amplification is also sensitive to thermal and quantum fluctuations.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures; new figures, revised version to appear as a Rapid

To What Extend Does the Technology Disrupstion Affect the Sale of Smes Banana Chips Products in Bandar Lampung?
Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia, which is also known as Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM), play a significant role in determining national economic performance. Banana chips are the most well-known product in Bandar Lampung. As the provincial capital of Lampung Province, Bandar Lampung becomes the center of trade and services sector which is a vital sector of the downstream industry activity. One of the vital aspect in the downstream of Banana chips industry is selling. This study aims to examine the effect of disruptive technology on the sale of SMEs Banana Chips products in Bandar Lampung. This study conduct the quantitative approach by using multiple regression linear analysis. The findings show that the regression model of selling aspect has 0.594 in R2 value. It means that the regression model is able to represent the real condition about 59,4%. According to the model, among the 6 (six) predictor variables, the most-influencing variable on the sale of Banana chips products is online-based promotion
Penning collisions of laser-cooled metastable helium atoms
We present experimental results on the two-body loss rates in a
magneto-optical trap of metastable helium atoms. Absolute rates are measured in
a systematic way for several laser detunings ranging from -5 to -30 MHz and at
different intensities, by monitoring the decay of the trap fluorescence. The
dependence of the two-body loss rate coefficient on the excited state
() and metastable state () populations is also investigated.
From these results we infer a rather uniform rate constant
cm/s.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures, Revte
Dynamics of two colliding Bose-Einstein condensates in an elongated magneto-static trap
We study the dynamics of two interacting Bose-Einstein condensates, by
numerically solving two coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations at zero temperature.
We consider the case of a sudden transfer of atoms between two trapped states
with different magnetic moments: the two condensates are initially created with
the same density profile, but are trapped into different magnetic potentials,
whose minima are vertically displaced by a distance much larger than the
initial size of both condensates. Then the two condensates begin to perform
collective oscillations, undergoing a complex evolution, characterized by
collisions between the two condensates. We investigate the effects of their
mutual interaction on the center-of-mass oscillations and on the time evolution
of the aspect ratios. Our theoretical analysis provides a useful insight into
the recent experimental observations by Maddaloni et al., cond-mat/0003402.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures, RevTe
Long-lived quantum memory with nuclear atomic spins
We propose to store non-classical states of light into the macroscopic
collective nuclear spin ( atoms) of a He vapor, using
metastability exchange collisions. These collisions, commonly used to transfer
orientation from the metastable state to the ground state state of
He, can also transfer quantum correlations. This gives a possible
experimental scheme to map a squeezed vacuum field state onto a nuclear spin
state with very long storage times (hours).Comment: 4 page
Flow graphs: interweaving dynamics and structure
The behavior of complex systems is determined not only by the topological
organization of their interconnections but also by the dynamical processes
taking place among their constituents. A faithful modeling of the dynamics is
essential because different dynamical processes may be affected very
differently by network topology. A full characterization of such systems thus
requires a formalization that encompasses both aspects simultaneously, rather
than relying only on the topological adjacency matrix. To achieve this, we
introduce the concept of flow graphs, namely weighted networks where dynamical
flows are embedded into the link weights. Flow graphs provide an integrated
representation of the structure and dynamics of the system, which can then be
analyzed with standard tools from network theory. Conversely, a structural
network feature of our choice can also be used as the basis for the
construction of a flow graph that will then encompass a dynamics biased by such
a feature. We illustrate the ideas by focusing on the mathematical properties
of generic linear processes on complex networks that can be represented as
biased random walks and also explore their dual consensus dynamics.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur
Influence of ewe feeding systems on carcass quality of suckling lambs
Numerous studies have evidenced significant differences in the carcass and meat quality of grass-fed and concentrate-fed lambs. The main differences regard carcass fatness (Murphy et al., 1994), subcutaneous fat colour (Prache and Theriez, 1999), meat colour (Priolo et al., 2002a) and fatty acid composition (Enser et al., 1998). The use of grazing in lamb feeding favours the presence of substances in the meat which are beneficial to human health. Different methods, based on the spectrophotometric properties of fat have been proposed to verify the origin of the product (Priolo et al., 2002b). The objective of the present study is to verify if and to what extent the carcass quality of suckling lambs is affected by ewe feeding systems
Collective oscillations of two colliding Bose-Einstein condensates
Two 87Rb condensates (F=2, m_f=2 and m_f=1) are produced in highly displaced
harmonic traps and the collective dynamical behaviour is investigated. The
mutual interaction between the two condensates is evidenced in the
center-of-mass oscillations as a frequency shift of 6.4(3)%. Calculations based
on a mean-field theory well describe the observed effects of periodical
collisions both on the center-of-mass motion and on the shape oscillations.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, revtex - revised versio
