O Cinema Ventríloquo de “UPP : a pacificação das favelas”

Este ensaio é fruto da observação do filme “UPPs: a pacificação das favelas” e tem como principal objetivo levantar algumas reflexões acerca de um cinema “ventríloquo”, que tem como efeito naturalizar e normalizar o discurso do controle e do policiamento em nome da segurança e da garantia de “proteção” da população moradora desses espaços, provocando, como consequência, o apagamento do conflito e da diferença. Filmado por quatro jovens moradores da favela e produzido por Cacá Diegues, o filme foi apresentado em “avant-première” no 13º Festival do Cinema Brasileiro em Paris e propõe-se a discutir, sob diversos aspectos, a instauração de Unidades de Polícia Pacificadora (UPPs) nas favelas do Rio de Janeiro

Compact high-brightness and highly manufacturable blue laser modules

Blue laser diode sources have already proved to be an effective alternative for material processing, especially of high reflective materials, such as copper; now the challenge is to increase their power while improving brightness and reducing the cost-per-watt. The paper presents the development of a family of blue laser modules that, making use of the same platform and assembly lines of similar 9xx nm modules, can achieve an unprecedented combination of power, brightness, compactness and cost reduction. These modules rely on a proprietary architecture to combine a plurality of chips through spatial and polarization multiplexing, obtaining up to 100W of output power in a 100 μm fiber. Degree of Polarization of High-Power Laser Diodes: Modeling and Statistical Experimental Investigation

A statistical experimental investigation of the characteristic changes associated with the degree-of-polarization reduction of high-power laser diodes is reported. A simple model accounting for the stress-induced degree-of-polarization changes through the photoelastic effect is introduced to qualitatively support the experimental results. Functional characteristics addressed in the investigation are the threshold current, the slope efficiency, the polarization-resolved far field and near field, and the beam parameter product. Model outcomes and measured parameters related to different degree-of-polarization values have proven very useful for device optimization aimed to polarization multiplexing applications

Droni in viticoltura e frutticoltura: geoinformazione per agroecosistemi 4.0 in Veneto e Trentino

Il progetto qui presentato \ue8 stato sviluppato a partire da giugno 2017 dall\u2019Universit\ue0 degli Studi di Padova, attraverso il sostegno della Regione Veneto nell\u2019ambito di un bando POR-FSE, con l\u2018obiettivo di mettere a disposizione delle aziende agricole venete competenze e conoscenze avanzate nell\u2019impiego di Sistemi a Pilotaggio Remoto (SPR), di dati satellitari e degli sviluppi delle tecnologie dell'informazione geografica per l\u2019agricoltura. Si tratta di un progetto complesso, che coinvolge 4 dipartimenti, la Fondazione Bruno Kessler di Trento, 4 imprese del settore GIS e droni, 10 aziende agricole e un'associazione. Nel paper vengono presentate le ragioni della logica di progetto e lo stato di avanzamento dopo i primi mesi di lavoro. Le attivit\ue0 hanno preso avvio da una domanda di fondo "perch\ue9 le tecnologie dell'informazione geografica, disponibili ed a basso costo, non entrano nelle aziende agricole?\u201d Per sviluppare delle risposte efficaci, \ue8 emersa come centrale la figura dei giovani ricercatori e professionisti formati nell\u2019ambito del progetto, che dovranno fornire gli strumenti tecnologici e di rete per superare queste limitazioni e contribuire alla diffusione della geo-informazione in agricoltura
