Anodic oxidation of organics on Ti/IrO2 anodes using Nafion as electrolyte

    No full text
This paper describes the anodic oxidn. of various aliph. alcs. in pure water using a Nafion cation exchange membrane as a solid polymer electrolyte. The oxidn. was carried out on an IrO2 anode under conditions of simultaneous O2 evolution. The exptl. results for the anodic oxidn. of 4 different alcs. (iso-PrOH, PrOH, EtOH and MeOH) agree well with the theor. model presented in a previous paper. Finally, a simple exptl. method is described for the detn. of the relative reactivity of oxidn. of orgs. on IrO2 anodes. [on SciFinder (R)

Theoretical model for the anodic oxidation of organics on metal oxide electrodes

    No full text
A theor. model describing the electrochem. oxidn. of orgs. at oxide electrodes (MOx) forming the higher oxide (Mox+1) is described. In this model, both orgs. and O2 evolution are mediated by the higher oxide (MOx+1) which is electrogenerated at the anode surface. The effect of concn. polarization in the electrolyte is also included in the theor. model. [on SciFinder (R)

Magnetism of 3d electrons in YCo12-xFexB6 compounds

    No full text
The magnetic properties of the polycrystalline YCo12-xFexB6 alloys are thoroughly investigated through the scope of the Kuz'min model describing the thermal evolution of the spontaneous magnetization. The analysis of this behavior reveals a strong composition dependence of the magnetization as well as it thermal evolution. This is interpreted as an evolution from first neighbor ferromagnetic (FM) interactions with progressively reinforced antiferromagnetic (AFM) interactions. The magnetization in the ordered state decreases when increasing Fe content from 0.45 µB/f.u. down to 0.11 µB/f.u. for x = 0 and x = 4, respectively. The Inoue-Shimizu s-d model has also been used close to the ordering temperature to investigate the evolution of the Landau coefficients and study in detail the order of the magnetic transition and have some insights on the magnetovolume coupling in this series of compounds. It was revealed that the Fe for Co substitution causes the already weak magnetovolume exchange to become even weaker
