La Carta Atenagórica: Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz y los caminos de una reflexión teológica

This article seeks to locate Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz in her historical context and includes an internal analysis of the Carta Atenagórica, written by the nun in 1690. The text also analyzes the controversy between Sor Juana and father Antonio Vieira about theological points of view and other debates that characterize the origin of modern thought. Through Machiavelli proposals, author quoted in the Carta Atenágorica, the article searches the roots of Sor Juana and father Vieira's thoughts, focusing always in the theological theory horizon argued about in those times, especially the one of the free will, subject pursued by Sor Juana with keen intelligence, sagacity and, above all, love.El artículo coloca a sor Juana Inés de la Cruz en su contexto histórico y contiene un análisis interno de la Carta Atenagórica, escrita por la monja en 1690. El texto analiza el debate entre la autora y el padre Antonio Vieira, donde ambos tratan sobre cuestiones de orden teológico y expresan los debates que caracterizan los orígenes del pensamiento moderno. A través de las propuestas de Maquiavelo, autor citado en la Carta Atenagórica, el artículo busca las raíces del pensamiento de sor Juana y del padre Vieira, teniendo siempre en el horizonte las cuestiones teológicas discutidas en la época, especialmente el libre arbitrio, tema que sor Juana persigue con profunda inteligencia, perspicacia y sobre todo con amor

A construção da memória historiográfica paulista: Dom Luiz de Céspedes Xeria e o mapa de sua expedição de 1628

This study presents an analysis of the map of Don Luis de Cespedes Xeria, which represents the state of São Paulo in 1628, based on the image of the original map that is under custody of the Archivo General de Indias, located in Seville, Spain. This map is compared with the traditional map reproduced by Afonso de Taunay, in 1922, in the Collectanea de mappas de cartographia paulista antiga. By comparison of these primary sources, it is shown that a source can acquire characteristics related to the broader and significant needs associated with the management and administration of a collective memory, which is structured to maintain the power and values of a particular social, hegemonic class. This fact is not noticed as something of a Machiavellian nature and significantly planned or architected, but as part of an unconscious pattern, necessary to maintain the cultural identity of that hegemonic social group
