Vehicle stability criterion based on three-fold line method
Stable boundary is analysed and corresponding stability criterion is proposed based on sideslip angle speed- sideslip angle phase plane. First, we analyse the impact of adhesion coefficient, longitudinal speed and front wheel angle on phase plane stable boundary, then we simplify the hyperbolic boundary with polyline. Stability criterion is then built based on the distance between locus and stable boundary. The proposed stability criterion is integrated to vehicle stability control system, and simulations are run under Matlab/Simulink-Carsim co-simulation platform. The results show that stability criterion based on sideslip angle speed- sideslip angle phase plane can evaluate vehicle stability state; under SWD/SIS steering condition and DLC condition, stability control syste
Metabolite Profile of Alzheimer’s Disease in the Frontal Cortex as Analyzed by HRMAS 1H NMR
Background: Investigation on neurochemical changes in the frontal cortex in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and different Apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotypes, using ex vivo solid-state high-resolution NMR analysis, may lead to a better understanding of the neurochemistry associated with AD as well as new AD-specific metabolite biomarkers that might potentially improve the clinical diagnosis of AD.Methods: Intact tissue samples of the frontal cortex were obtained from 11 patients and 11 age-matched non-demented controls. Metabolite profiles in all samples were analyzed ex vivo, using solid-state high-resolution magic angle spinning (HRMAS) 600 MHz 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). A logistic regression analysis was used to rank metabolites based on their level of contribution in differentiating the AD patient tissues and the controls, and different AD-associated APOE genotypes (APOE ε4 vs. APOE ε3).Results: Tissue samples from the AD patients showed significantly lower NAA/Cr (p = 0.011), Ace/Cr (p = 0.027), GABA/Cr (p = 0.005), Asp/Cr (p < 0.0001), mI/Cr (p < 0.0001), and Tau/Cr (p = 0.021), and higher PCho/Cr (p < 0.0001), GPCho/Cr (p < 0.0001), and α&β-Glc/Cr (p < 0.0001) than the controls did. Specifically, a newly observed resonance at 3.71 ppm, referred to as α&β-Glc, was observed in 90.9% of the AD samples (10/11). Samples with APOE ε4 also exhibited higher PCho/Cr (p = 0.0002), GPCho/Cr (p = 0.0001), α&β-Glc/Cr (p < 0.0001), and lower Asp/Cr (p = 0.004) and GABA/Cr (p = 0.04) than the samples with APOE ε3 did. In the logistic regression analysis, PCho, GPCho, ASP, and α&β-Glc were found to be the most relevant metabolites for differentiating the AD patient tissues and the controls, and different APOE genotypes. Conclusion: HRMAS 1H NMR with high spectral resolution and sensitivity offers a powerful tool to gain quantitative information on AD associated neurochemical changes. There are important neurochemical differences in the frontal cortex between the AD patient tissues and the controls, and between those with different APOE genotypes. The resonance (α&β-Glc) found at 3.71 ppm in the AD patient tissues may be further investigated for its potential in the diagnosis and monitoring of AD
Metabolites Identification of Bioactive Compounds Daturataturin A, Daturametelin I, N-Trans-Feruloyltyramine, and Cannabisin F From the Seeds of Datura metel in Rats
Datura metel L. is a widely used traditional herbal medicine, and withanolides and amides are the two groups of main bioactive constituents in Datura metel seeds. This study aimed to elucidate the metabolism of four representative bioactive compositions containing daturataturin A (1), daturametelin I (2), N-trans-feruloyltyramine (3), and cannabisin F (4) in rats. After separately oral administration of 20 mg/kg withanolides (1, 2) and amides (3, 4) to rats, a total of 12, 24, and 21 metabolites were detected in the plasma, urine, and fecal samples, respectively. Among them, three hydroxylated metabolites, 1-M3, 2-M2, and 3-M5, were detected in plasma and rat liver microsome incubation system in high abundance. Two metabolites of 1 and 2 were unambiguously identified by comparing with reference standards. Particularly, the methylated metabolite 27α-methoxy-(22R)-22,26-epoxy-27-[(β-D-glucopyranosyl)oxy]ergosta-2,4,6,24-tetraene-1,26-dione (daturametelin L) is a new compound. The withanolides could readily get hydroxylation or methylation metabolism. Meanwhile, the phase II metabolism (glucuronidation or sulfation) was the major reaction for the amides. This is the first study on in vivo metabolism of these active compounds in seeds of Datura metel

Evaluation of neuregulin-1's neuroprotection against ischemic injury in rats using diffusion tensor imaging.
Stroke is a devastating neurovascular disorder that results in damage to neurons and white matter tracts. It has been previously demonstrated that neuregulin-1 (NRG-1) protects neurons from ischemic injury following stroke. Here, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) was utilized to characterize the effects of NRG-1 treatment on cererbral infarction and integrity of white matter after ischemic insult using a permanent middle celebral artery occlusion (pMCAo) rat model. In the present study, sixteen Sprague-Dawley rats underwent pMCAo surgery and received either a single intra-arterial bolus (20 μg/kg) dose of NRG-1 or saline immediately prior to pMCAo. MRI including T2-weighted imaging and DTI was performed in the first 3 h post stroke, and repeated 48 h later. It is found that the stroke infarction was significantly reduced in the NRG-1 treated group. Also, NRG-1 prevented the reduction of fractional anisotropy (FA) in white matter tracts of fornix and corpus callosum (CC), indicating its protection of CC and fornix white matter bundles from ischemia insult. As a conclusion, the present DTI results demonstrate that NRG-1 has significantly neuroprotective effects in both cerebral cortex and white matter including corpus callosum and fornix during acute stroke. In particular, NRG-1 is more effective on stroke lesion with mild ischemia. As CC and fornix white matter bundles play critical roles in transcallosal connectivity and hippocampal projections respectively in the central nervous system, the findings could provide complementary information for better understanding the biological mechanism of NRG-1's neuroprotection in ischemic tissues and neurobehavioral effects

Generation of Different Mode-Locked States in Nonlinear Multimodal Interference-Based Fiber Lasers
A novel mode-locking method based on nonlinear multimode interference (NLMI) using a distributed large-core (105 μm) graded-index multimode fiber (GIMF)-based saturable absorber (SA) capable of generating four pulse modes is proposed. The distributed SA geometry consists of two GIMFs located at different positions in the resonant cavity. The coupling and joint operation not only facilitate resistance to pulse fragmentation but also provide a sophisticated and widely tunable transmission with saturable and reverse saturable absorption phenomena. Based on this, dissipative soliton (DS), dissipative soliton resonance (DSR), wedge-shaped, and staircase pulses are achieved without additional filters. The DS has accessible output power, pulse energy, bandwidth, and duration of up to 15.33 mW, 2.02 nJ, 22.63 nm, and ~1.68 ps. The DSR has an achievable pulse duration and energy of ~32.39 ns, 30.3 nJ. The dispersion range that allows DS operation is studied, and the dynamics of the evolution from DS to DSR are observed. The versatility, flexibility, and simplicity of the SA device, combined with the possibility of scaling the pulse energy, make it highly attractive for ultrafast optics and nonlinear dynamics
