Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Performance
We describe some perspectives on corporate social responsibility (CSR), in order to provide a context for considering the strategic motivations and implications of CSR. Based on this framework, which is based on characterizing optimal firm decision making and underlies most existing work on CSR, we propose an agenda for further theoretical and empirical research on CSR. We then summarize and relate the articles in this special issue to the proposed agenda.
On Supermultiplet Twisting and Spin-Statistics
Twisting of off-shell supermultiplets in models with 1+1-dimensional
spacetime has been discovered in 1984, and was shown to be a generic feature of
off-shell representations in worldline supersymmetry two decades later. It is
shown herein that in all supersymmetric models with spacetime of four or more
dimensions, this off-shell supermultiplet twisting, if non-trivial, necessarily
maps regular (non-ghost) supermultiplets to ghost supermultiplets. This feature
is shown to be ubiquitous in all fully off-shell supersymmetric models with
(BV/BRST-treated) constraints.Comment: Extended version, including a new section on manifestly off-shell and
supersymmetric BRST treatment of gauge symmetry; added reference
Green-Schwarz Formulation of Self-Dual Superstring
The self-dual superstring has been described previously in a
Neveu-Schwarz-Ramond formulation with local N=2 or 4 world-sheet supersymmetry.
We present a Green-Schwarz-type formulation, with manifest spacetime
supersymmetry.Comment: 11 pg., (uuencoded dvi file) ITP-SB-92-5
Variant supercurrent multiplets
In N = 1 rigid supersymmetric theories, there exist three standard
realizations of the supercurrent multiplet corresponding to the (i) old
minimal, (ii) new minimal and (iii) non-minimal off-shell formulations for N =
1 supergravity. Recently, Komargodski and Seiberg in arXiv:1002.2228 put
forward a new supercurrent and proved its consistency, although in the past it
was believed not to exist. In this paper, three new variant supercurrent
multiplets are proposed. Implications for supergravity-matter systems are
discussed.Comment: 11 pages; V2: minor changes in sect. 3; V3: published version; V4:

Configurations of Handles and the Classification of Divergences in the String Partition Function
The divergences that arise in the regularized partition function for closed
bosonic string theory in flat space lead to three types of perturbation series
expansions, distinguished by their genus dependence. This classification of
infinities can be traced to geometrical characteristics of the string
worldsheet. Some categories of divergences may be eliminated in string theories
formulated on compact manifolds.Comment: 24 pages, DAMTP-R/94/1
Complete Lagrangian formulation for N=4 topological string
We give a Lagrangian and display all local symmetries for N=4 topological
string by Berkovits, Vafa and Siegel, the latter previously known in the
superconformal gauge. Leading to a small N=4 superconformal algebra and
exhibiting the manifest Lorentz invariance the model is proposed to be a
framework for restoring the manifest Lorentz invariance in N=2 string
scattering amplitudes.Comment: 8 pages, LaTex. One reference corrected, to appear in Phys. Rev.
Random lattice superstrings
We propose some new simplifying ingredients for Feynman diagrams that seem
necessary for random lattice formulations of superstrings. In particular, half
the fermionic variables appear only in particle loops (similarly to loop
momenta), reducing the supersymmetry of the constituents of the Type IIB
superstring to N=1, as expected from their interpretation in the 1/N expansion
as super Yang-Mills.Comment: Section 5 which describes contributions of the string measure adde
Variant Supercurrents and Linearized Supergravity
In this paper the variant supercurrents based on consistency and completion
in off-shell N=1 supergravity are studied. We formulate the embedding relations
for supersymmetric current and energy tensor into supercurrent multiplet.
Corresponding linearized supergravity is obtained with appropriate choice of
Wess-Zumino gauge in each gravity supermultiplet.Comment: v1: 9 pp; v2: minor changes; v3: 10 pp, published versio
