A CMAC-Based Systematic Design Approach of an Adaptive Embedded Control Force Loading System

    Get PDF
In this chapter, an adaptive embedded control system is developed to measure yield strength of the material plate with an applied load. A systematic approach is proposed to handle special requirements of embedded control systems which are different from computer-based control systems as there are much less computational power and hardware resources available. Efficient control algorithm has to be designed to remove CPU burden so that the microcontroller has enough power available. A three-step approach is proposed to address the embedded control issue: Firstly, the mathematical description of the whole system is studied using both theoretical and experimental methods. A mathematical model is derived from the physical models of each component used, and an experiment is retrieved by employing Levy’s method and least square estimation to identify specific parameters of the system model. Secondly, an adaptive feedforward plus feedback controller is designed and simulated as a preparation for the embedded system implementation. The Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller (CMAC) is chosen as the feedforward part, and a PD controller is used as the feedback part to train the CMAC. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to the embedded system, and experiments are conducted to verify both the identified model and designed controller

Genomic selection to improve husk tightness based on genomic molecular markers in maize

IntroductionThe husk tightness (HTI) in maize plays a crucial role in regulating the water content of ears during the maturity stage, thereby influencing the quality of mechanical grain harvesting in China. Genomic selection (GS), which employs molecular markers, offers a promising approach for identifying and selecting inbred lines with the desired HTI trait in maize breeding. However, the effectiveness of GS is contingent upon various factors, including the genetic architecture of breeding populations, sequencing platforms, and statistical models.MethodsAn association panel of maize inbred lines was grown across three sites over two years, divided into four subgroups. GS analysis for HTI prediction was performed using marker data from three sequencing platforms and six marker densities with six statistical methods.ResultsThe findings indicate that a loosely attached husk can aid in the dissipation of water from kernels in temperate maize germplasms across most environments but not nessarily for tropical-origin maize. Considering the balance between GS prediction accuracy and breeding cost, the optimal prediction strategy is the rrBLUP model, the 50K sequencing platform, a 30% proportion of the test population, and a marker density of r2=0.1. Additionally, selecting a specific SS subgroup for sampling the testing set significantly enhances the predictive capacity for husk tightness.DiscussionThe determination of the optimal GS prediction strategy for HTI provides an economically feasible reference for the practice of molecular breeding. It also serves as a reference method for GS breeding of other agronomic traits

Antitumor activity and safety of camrelizumab combined with apatinib in patients with relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma: An open-label, multicenter, phase II study

IntroductionThe treatment for relapsed/refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma (r/r PTCL) is suboptimal. This open-label, multicenter, single-arm study aimed to investigate the antitumor activity and safety of camrelizumab (a PD-1 blockade) plus apatinib (an antiangiogenic agent) for patients with r/r PTCL.MethodsEligible patients with r/r PTCL were enrolled and received camrelizumab 200 mg intravenously every 2 weeks and apatinib 500 or 250 mg orally once daily, 4 weeks as a cycle. The primary endpoint was overall response rate (ORR).ResultsA total of 20 patients were enrolled and received study medications in the study, with a median number of prior treatment line of 3 (range 1-6). At the cutoff date of March 4, 2022, the median follow-up was 27.2 months (range: 0.5-39.9), and three patients remained on treatment. Six patients had early discontinuation without tumor response evaluation. For all patients, the ORR was 30% (6/20) (95% confidence interval [CI], 11.9% to 54.3%), with two patients (10%) achieving complete response. The median progression-free survival (PFS) and median overall survival for all patients were 5.6 months (95% CI, 1.8 to not reached) and 16.7 months (95% CI, 2.8 to not reached), respectively. Patients with PD-L1 expression ≥50% (3 patients) had a numerically higher ORR and longer median PFS than those with PD-L1 expression < 50% (5 patients). The most commonly reported grade 3 or higher adverse events were hyperlipidemia (15%), hypokalemia (15%) and anemia (15%). No treatment-related deaths occurred.DiscussionIn this study, PD-1 inhibitors plus low-dose antiangiogenic drugs presented preliminary antitumor activity and manageable toxicity in patients with r/r PTCL

    Sinyi Real Estate in Taiwan

    No full text
Sinyi Group was founded in 1981. By closely following its Confucian ethics and “people-centered” service philosophy, it established an excellent corporate image and became one of the most successful real estate agent companies in Taiwan and Mainland China. However, with the expansion of the company and intensified market competition, the management philosophy, which had contributed much to Sinyi’s success, became a limiting factor in the pace of globalization. In 2008, Mr. Chun-chi Chou, the founder of Sinyi, was contemplating solutions to Sinyi’s problem: How could it maintain its corporate philosophy among staff? Should Sinyi tailor its unique business models to suit aggressive expansion? This case aims to evoke discussion on the dilemma of preserving corporate management philosophy while sustaining competitiveness in globalization strategy. This case can be used at MBA and EMBA levels as well as executive education classes under cultural and globalization topics

Downlink Reference Signal Design for LTE Compatible GEO Mobile Satellite System

    No full text
Reference signal (RS) is a crucial signal which is used for channel estimation and data demodulation in 3GPP long term evolution (LTE) system. However, due to the differences of channel environment, interference situation and system physical resource between multiple-beam satellite system and terrestrial system, the original downlink reference signal (DL-RS) design in LTE specifications cannot meet the satellite system demands, leading to performance degradation and waste of resource. In this paper, based on the feature of satellite channel, interference model and physical resource, we calculate the time and frequency domain interval; design the pattern of DL-RS in multiple beam satellite communication system. Furthermore, two DL-RS improvement technology: power boosting, re-transmit and combined receive scheme are mentioned. Simulation results and performance analysis prove the effectiveness of the proposed DLRS design.http://gateway.webofknowledge.com/gateway/Gateway.cgi?GWVersion=2&SrcApp=PARTNER_APP&SrcAuth=LinksAMR&KeyUT=WOS:000316387300203&DestLinkType=FullRecord&DestApp=ALL_WOS&UsrCustomerID=8e1609b174ce4e31116a60747a720701Automation & Control SystemsOperations Research & Management ScienceEICPCI-S(ISTP)
