Macroscopic and Local Magnetic Moments in Si-doped CuGeO3_3 with Neutron and μ\muSR Studies

The temperature-concentration phase diagram of the Si-doped spin-Peierls compound CuGeO3_{3} is investigated by means of neutron scattering and muon spin rotation spectroscopy in order to determine the microscopic distribution of the magnetic and lattice dimerised regions as a function of doping. The analysis of the zero-field muon spectra has confirmed the spatial inhomogeneity of the staggered magnetisation that characterises the antiferromagnetic superlattice peaks observed with neutrons. In addition, the variation of the macroscopic order parameter with doping can be understood by considering the evolution of the local magnetic moment as well as of the various regions contributing to the muon signal

Torsion divisors of plane curves and Zariski pairs

In this paper we study the embedded topology of reducible plane curves having a smooth irreducible component. In previous studies, the relation between the topology and certain torsion classes in the Picard group of degree zero of the smooth component was implicitly considered. We formulate this relation clearly and give a criterion for distinguishing the embedded topology in terms of torsion classes. Furthermore, we give a method of systematically constructing examples of curves where our criterion is applicable, and give new examples of Zariski tuples.Comment: 19 page

Helimagnon Bands as Universal Spin Excitations of Chiral Magnets

MnSi is a cubic compound with small magnetic anisotropy, which stabilizes a helimagnetic spin spiral that reduces to a ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic state in the long- and short-wavelength limit, respectively. We report a comprehensive inelastic neutron scattering study of the collective magnetic excitations in the helimagnetic state of MnSi. In our study we observe a rich variety of seemingly anomalous excitation spectra, as measured in well over twenty different locations in reciprocal space. Using a model based on only three parameters, namely the measured pitch of the helix, the measured ferromagnetic spin wave stiffness and the amplitude of the signal, as the only free variable, we can simultaneously account for \textit{all} of the measured spectra in excellent quantitative agreement with experiment. Our study identifies the formation of intense, strongly coupled bands of helimagnons as a universal characteristic of systems with weak chiral interactions.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, references updated, introduction updated, reformatte

Correlated oscillations in Kerr parametric oscillators with tunable effective coupling

We study simultaneous parametric oscillations in a system composed of two distributed-element-circuit Josephson parametric oscillators in the single-photon Kerr regime coupled via a static capacitance. The energy of the system is described by a two-bit Ising Hamiltonian with an effective coupling whose amplitude and sign depend on the relative phase between parametric pumps. We demonstrate that the binary phases of the parametric oscillations are correlated with each other, and that the parity and strength of the correlation can be controlled by adjusting the pump phase. The observed correlation is reproduced in our simulation taking pure dephasing into account. The present result demonstrates the tunability of the Hamiltonian parameters by the phase of external microwave, which can be used in the the Ising machine hardware composed of the KPO network.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure

Long-range crystalline nature of the skyrmion lattice in MnSi

We report small angle neutron scattering of the skyrmion lattice in MnSi using an experimental set-up that minimizes the effects of demagnetizing fields and double scattering. Under these conditions the skyrmion lattice displays resolution-limited Gaussian rocking scans that correspond to a magnetic correlation length in excess of several hundred {\mu}m. This is consistent with exceptionally well-defined long-range order. We further establish the existence of higher-order scattering, discriminating parasitic double-scattering with Renninger scans. The field and temperature dependence of the higher-order scattering arises from an interference effect. It is characteristic for the long-range crystalline nature of the skyrmion lattice as shown by simple mean field calculations.Comment: 4 page
