Nonequilibrium Microscopic Distribution of Thermal Current in Particle Systems
A nonequilibrium distribution function of microscopic thermal current is
studied by a direct numerical simulation in a thermal conducting steady state
of particle systems. Two characteristic temperatures of the thermal current are
investigated on the basis of the distribution. It is confirmed that the
temperature depends on the current direction; Parallel temperature to the
heat-flux is higher than antiparallel one. The difference between the parallel
temperature and the antiparallel one is proportional to a macroscopic
temperature gradient.Comment: 4 page
A Universal Lifetime Distribution for Multi-Species Systems
Lifetime distributions of social entities, such as enterprises, products, and
media contents, are one of the fundamental statistics characterizing the social
dynamics. To investigate the lifetime distribution of mutually interacting
systems, simple models having a rule for additions and deletions of entities
are investigated. We found a quite universal lifetime distribution for various
kinds of inter-entity interactions, and it is well fitted by a
stretched-exponential function with an exponent close to 1/2. We propose a
"modified Red-Queen" hypothesis to explain this distribution. We also review
empirical studies on the lifetime distribution of social entities, and

Periodicity Manifestations in the Turbulent Regime of Globally Coupled Map Lattice
We revisit the globally coupled map lattice (GCML). We show that in the so
called turbulent regime various periodic cluster attractor states are formed
even though the coupling between the maps are very small relative to the
non-linearity in the element maps.
Most outstanding is a maximally symmetric three cluster attractor in period
three motion (MSCA) due to the foliation of the period three window of the
element logistic maps. An analytic approach is proposed which explains
successfully the systematics of various periodicity manifestations in the
turbulent regime. The linear stability of the period three cluster attractors

N-tree approximation for the largest Lyapunov exponent of a coupled-map lattice
The N-tree approximation scheme, introduced in the context of random directed
polymers, is here applied to the computation of the maximum Lyapunov exponent
in a coupled map lattice. We discuss both an exact implementation for small
tree-depth and a numerical implementation for larger s. We find that the
phase-transition predicted by the mean field approach shifts towards larger
values of the coupling parameter when the depth is increased. We conjecture

Prevalence of frailty in Japan: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Japan's population is aging more rapidly than that of any other country. Frailty has recently been recognized as an important priority. Understanding the basic epidemiology of frailty in Japan, which is an example of a rapidly aging society, will be beneficial for Japan as well as other countries expecting an aging population. A systematic literature search of 11 electronic databases was conducted in March 2016 using a comprehensive set of Medical Subject Heading and text terms for any studies published in 2000 or later that report the prevalence of frailty among Japanese community-dwelling older people aged 65 years or older. A total of 1529 studies were identified in the systematic search, of which five studies were included in this review. The pooled prevalence of frailty, prefrailty, and robustness was 7.4% (95% confidence interval [CI], 6.1%–9.0%), 48.1% (95% CI, 41.6%–54.8%), and 44.4% (95% CI, 37.2%–51.7%), respectively. A significant degree of heterogeneity was observed. There was no evidence of publication bias. Age-stratified meta-analyses of four studies showed the pooled prevalence of frailty was 1.9%, 3.8%, 10.0%, 20.4%, and 35.1% for those aged 65–69, 70–74, 75–79, 80–84, and ≥85 years, respectively. Pooled prevalence of frailty was 8.1% for women and 7.6% for men. This review showed an overall pooled prevalence of frailty among Japanese community-dwelling older people of 7.4%. The age-stratified analysis suggested that Japanese older people are less frail before their late 70's but frailer in later life than older people in other countries. These findings provide important basic information for all parties involved in Japanese frailty research
Breakdown of Migdal's theorem and intensity of electron-phonon coupling in high-Tc superconductors
In this article we quantify the possible effects of the breakdown of Migdal's
theorem on the electron-phonon (e-p) coupling constant, on the critical
temperature and on the superconducting gap by examining different kinds of
superconducting materials either with low and high critical temperature. We use
the theoretical approach developed by Grimaldi, Pietronero and Strassler [PRB
52, 10516 & 10530 (1995)] on experimental data taken both from literature and
from our recent break-junction tunneling experiments in Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+x}
(BSCCO) [Physica C 275, 162 (1997) and cond-mat/9612220]. The results show that
a large violation of the Migdal's theorem (as in BSCCO) yields to a large
increase of the observed e-p coupling constant and, in a first approximation
and by direct solution of the Eliashberg equations, to large but different
increases of Tc and gap. The same theory gives no modifications when applied to
low-Tc conventional superconductors. In BSCCO, the renormalized values of the
e-p coupling constant and of the ratio 2Delta/kTc (1.85 and 4.98, respectively)
are compatible with a strong-coupling electron-phonon origin of

Regular and chaotic interactions of two BPS dyons at low energy
We identify and analyze quasiperiodic and chaotic motion patterns in the time
evolution of a classical, non-Abelian Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) dyon
pair at low energies. This system is amenable to the geodesic approximation
which restricts the underlying SU(2) Yang-Mills-Higgs dynamics to an
eight-dimensional phase space. We numerically calculate a representative set of
long-time solutions to the corresponding Hamilton equations and analyze
quasiperiodic and chaotic phase space regions by means of Poincare surfaces of
section, high-resolution power spectra and Lyapunov exponents. Our results
provide clear evidence for both quasiperiodic and chaotic behavior and
characterize it quantitatively. Indications for intermittency are also

Boundary effects in the stepwise structure of the Lyapunov spectra for quasi-one-dimensional systems
Boundary effects in the stepwise structure of the Lyapunov spectra and the
corresponding wavelike structure of the Lyapunov vectors are discussed
numerically in quasi-one-dimensional systems consisting of many hard-disks.
Four kinds of boundary conditions constructed by combinations of periodic
boundary conditions and hard-wall boundary conditions are considered, and lead
to different stepwise structures of the Lyapunov spectra in each case. We show
that a spatial wavelike structure with a time-oscillation appears in the
spatial part of the Lyapunov vectors divided by momenta in some steps of the
Lyapunov spectra, while a rather stationary wavelike structure appears in the
purely spatial part of the Lyapunov vectors corresponding to the other steps.
Using these two kinds of wavelike structure we categorize the sequence and the
kinds of steps of the Lyapunov spectra in the four different boundary condition
