We report values of for 85 center-of-mass energies between
2 and 5 GeV measured with the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer at the Beijing
Electron-Positron Collider.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
First Measurement of the Branching Fraction of the Decay psi(2S) --> tau tau
The branching fraction of the psi(2S) decay into tau pair has been measured
for the first time using the BES detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron
Collider. The result is ,
where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This value,
along with those for the branching fractions into e+e- and mu+mu of this
resonance, satisfy well the relation predicted by the sequential lepton
hypothesis. Combining all these values with the leptonic width of the resonance
the total width of the psi(2S) is determined to be keV.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure
Measurement of decays to baryon pairs
A sample of 3.95M decays registered in the BES detector are used
to study final states containing pairs of octet and decuplet baryons. We report
branching fractions for , ,
, ,
, ,
, and . These results
are compared to expectations based on the SU(3)-flavor symmetry, factorization,
and perturbative QCD.Comment: 22 pages, 21 figures, 4 table
The Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy Onboard the SATech-01 Satellite
The Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy (LEIA), a pathfinder of the Wide-field
X-ray Telescope of the Einstein Probe (EP) mission, was successfully launched
onboard the SATech-01 satellite of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on 27 July
2022. In this paper, we introduce the design and on-ground test results of the
LEIA instrument. Using state-of-the-art Micro-Pore Optics (MPO), a wide
field-of-view (FoV) of 346 square degrees (18.6 degrees * 18.6 degrees) of the
X-ray imager is realized. An optical assembly composed of 36 MPO chips is used
to focus incident X-ray photons, and four large-format complementary
metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensors, each of 6 cm * 6 cm, are used as the
focal plane detectors. The instrument has an angular resolution of 4 - 8 arcmin
(in FWHM) for the central focal spot of the point spread function, and an
effective area of 2 - 3 cm2 at 1 keV in essentially all the directions within
the field of view. The detection passband is 0.5 - 4 keV in the soft X-rays and
the sensitivity is 2 - 3 * 10-11 erg s-1 cm-2 (about 1 mini-Crab) at 1,000
second observation. The total weight of LEIA is 56 kg and the power is 85 W.
The satellite, with a design lifetime of 2 years, operates in a Sun-synchronous
orbit of 500 km with an orbital period of 95 minutes. LEIA is paving the way
for future missions by verifying in flight the technologies of both novel
focusing imaging optics and CMOS sensors for X-ray observation, and by
optimizing the working setups of the instrumental parameters. In addition, LEIA
is able to carry out scientific observations to find new transients and to
monitor known sources in the soft X-ray band, albeit limited useful observing
time available.Comment: Accepted by RA
\psi(2S) Decays into \J plus Two Photons
Using \gamma \gamma J/\psi, J/\psi \ra e^+ e^- and events
from a sample of \psip decays collected with the BESII
detector, the branching fractions for \psip\ra \pi^0\J, \eta\J, and
\psi(2S)\ar\gamma\chi_{c1},\gamma\chi_{c2}\ar\gamma\gamma\jpsi are measured
to be B(\psip\ra \pi^0\J) = (1.43\pm0.14\pm0.13)\times 10^{-3}, B(\psip\ra
\eta\J) = (2.98\pm0.09\pm0.23)%,
B(\psi(2S)\ar\gamma\chi_{c1}\ar\gamma\gamma\jpsi) = (2.81\pm0.05\pm 0.23)%,
and B(\psi(2S)\ar\gamma\chi_{c2}\ar\gamma\gamma\jpsi) = (1.62\pm0.04\pm
0.12)%.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures. submitted to Phys. Rev.
Observation of a near-threshold enhancement in th p pbar mass spectrum from radiative J/psi-->gamma p pbar decays
We observe a narrow enhancement near 2mp in the invariant mass spectrum of
ppbar pairs from radiative J/psi-->gamma ppbar decays. The enhancement can be
fit with either an S- or P-wave Breit Wigner fuction. In the case of the S-wave
fit, the peak mass is below the 2mp threshold and the full width is less than
30 MeV. These mass and width values are not consistent with the properties of
any known meson resonance.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev. Let
Measurement of the Inclusive Charm Cross Section at 4.03 GeV and 4.14 GeV
The cross section for charmed meson production at and 4.14
GeV has been measured with the Beijing Spectrometer. The measurement was made
using 22.3 of data collected at 4.03 GeV and 1.5
of data collected at 4.14 GeV. Inclusive observed cross sections for
the production of charged and neutral D mesons and momentum spectra are
presented. Observed cross sections were radiatively corrected to obtain tree
level cross sections. Measurements of the total hadronic cross section are
obtained from the charmed meson cross section and an extrapolation of results
from below the charm threshold.Comment: 11 pages, 13 figures. The top level tex file is paper.tex. It builds

Measurement of the branching fractions of psi(2S) -> 3(pi+pi-) and J/psi -> 2(pi+pi-)
Using data samples collected at sqrt(s) = 3.686GeV and 3.650GeV by the BESII
detector at the BEPC, the branching fraction of psi(2S) -> 3(pi+pi-) is
measured to be [4.83 +- 0.38(stat) +- 0.69(syst)] x 10^-4, and the relative
branching fraction of J/psi -> 2(pi+pi-) to that of J/psi -> mu+mu- is measured
to be [5.86 +- 0.19(stat) +- 0.39(syst)]% via psi(2S) -> (pi+pi-)J/psi, J/psi
-> 2(pi+pi-). The electromagnetic form factor of 3(pi+pi-) is determined to be
0.21 +- 0.02 and 0.20 +- 0.01 at sqrt(s) = 3.686GeV and 3.650GeV, respectively.Comment: 17pages, 7 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
