    Design and Performance Comparisons of Brushless Doubly-Fed Generators with Different Rotor Structures

    The Brushless Doubly-Fed Generator (BDFG) shows the great potential for use in large variable speed wind turbines due to its high reliability and cost benefits of a partially-rated power electronics converter. However, it suffers from the compromised efficiency and power factor in comparison with conventional doubly fed induction or synchronous generators. Therefore, optimizing the BDFG, especially the rotor, is necessary for enhancing its torque density and market competitiveness. In this paper, a novel cage-assisted magnetic barrier rotor, called the hybrid rotor, is proposed and analyzed. The detailed analytical design approaches based on the magnetic field modulation theory are investigated. In addition, the machine losses and mutual inductance values using the proposed rotor designs are calculated and their performance implications evaluated. Finally, the comparative experimental results for two BDFG prototypes are presented to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the theoretical studies

    Blockchain Technology Application Maturity Assessment Model for Digital Government Public Service Projects

    With the deepening application of blockchain technology, exaggerating its empowering effects has become common. In recent years, the rational assessment of the maturity of blockchain technology applications in digital projects in different fields has been the focus of attention and identified as the key to improving the implementation effect of various digital projects. Although some studies have obtained substantial research results on technology maturity and its derivative applications, which can be used to predict the overall trend of a technology or guide the implementation of the technology on the ground, few studies have evaluated the maturity of blockchain technology in combination with different application scenarios. Our study combines application scenarios and the technical characteristics of blockchain technology and proposes an evaluation system for blockchain technology application maturity consisting of five primary indicators, that is, key application requirements, data security, process complexity, application ecological completeness, and technical performance requirements, and their corresponding secondary indicators. In addition, we take digital government public service projects as application scenarios and use the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) entropy method and expert scoring method to determine the weights corresponding to each index in the assessment system and construct a blockchain technology application maturity assessment model. Moreover, we apply the model to ten typical digital government public service projects to conduct a comprehensive assessment and analysis. By comparing the indicator scores of the different projects, we analyze the project characteristics influencing blockchain technology application maturity and provide suggestions for applying “blockchain + digital government public services”

    A Novel Approach for Effective Multi-View Clustering with Information-Theoretic Perspective

    Multi-view clustering (MVC) is a popular technique for improving clustering performance using various data sources. However, existing methods primarily focus on acquiring consistent information while often neglecting the issue of redundancy across multiple views. This study presents a new approach called Sufficient Multi-View Clustering (SUMVC) that examines the multi-view clustering framework from an information-theoretic standpoint. Our proposed method consists of two parts. Firstly, we develop a simple and reliable multi-view clustering method SCMVC (simple consistent multi-view clustering) that employs variational analysis to generate consistent information. Secondly, we propose a sufficient representation lower bound to enhance consistent information and minimise unnecessary information among views. The proposed SUMVC method offers a promising solution to the problem of multi-view clustering and provides a new perspective for analyzing multi-view data. To verify the effectiveness of our model, we conducted a theoretical analysis based on the Bayes Error Rate, and experiments on multiple multi-view datasets demonstrate the superior performance of SUMVC

    Inhibition of GALR1 in PFC Alleviates Depressive-Like Behaviors in Postpartum Depression Rat Model by Upregulating CREB-BNDF and 5-HT Levels

    Estrogen (E2) withdrawal is a core pathology mechanism for postpartum depression (PPD). Galanin (GAL), an estrogen-inducible neuropeptide has also been reported to be associated with depression. However, it still remains unclear which GAL receptors (GALRs) are involved in PPD pathologic process. In the present study, we discovered that the expression of GALR1, rather than GALR2/3, was upregulated with a region-specific pattern in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of E2 withdrawal induced PPD model rats. Meanwhile, c-fos was also upregulated only in PFC in the same animal model. Injection of GALR1-siRNA into the bilateral PFC ameliorated depressive-like behavior of PPD rats, suggesting that the upregulation of GALR1 in PFC is involved in PPD. Moreover, Western Blot and HPLC assays demonstrated that the downregulation of CREB-BDNF signaling and 5-HT levels in the PFC of PPD rats were reversed after GALR1-siRNA injection. These comprehensive results suggest that the knock down of GALR1 in PFC alleviates depressive-like behaviors and reverse downregulation of CREB-BDNF and 5-HT levels in PPD rat model.HIGHLIGHTS Expression level of GALR1 mRNA was significantly increased in PFC of estrogen withdraw-induced PPD rats.Injecting GALR1-siRNA into PFC alleviated depressive-like behavior and reversed the decrease of 5-HT level and CREB/BDNF signaling in PFC of PPD rats

    Efficacy and safety of immunotherapy combined with single-agent chemotherapy as second- or later-line therapy for metastatic non-small cell lung cancer

    ObjectiveThis study sought to assess the efficacy and safety of immunotherapy combined with single-agent chemotherapy as a second- or later-line setting for metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and to provide clinical evidence for this treatment regimen. The predictive value of extracellular vesicle (EV) membrane proteins was explored in patients who underwent this treatment.MethodsClinical data from patients diagnosed with metastatic NSCLC who received immunotherapy plus single-agent chemotherapy as a second- or later-line setting were retrospectively collected between March 2019 and January 2022. A total of 30 patients met the inclusion criteria, and all were pathologically confirmed to have NSCLC. Short-term efficacy, progression-free survival (PFS), EV markers for response prediction, and adverse events were assessed.ResultsEfficacy data were available for all 30 patients and included a partial response in 5 patients, stable disease in 18 patients, and disease progression in 7 patients. The objective response rate was 16.7%, the disease control rate was 76.7%, and the median PFS was 3.2 months. Univariate analysis showed that PFS was not associated with sex, age, smoking status, treatment lines, prior use of immunotherapy, or prior use of antiangiogenic drugs. The EV membrane proteins MET proto-oncogene, receptor tyrosine kinase (c-MET), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) at baseline were associated with poor prognosis and correlated with the efficacy of immunotherapy plus chemotherapy. According to the receiver operating characteristics and Kaplan–Meier curve analyses, patients with high c-MET, EGFR, and VEGFR2 expression at baseline had significantly shorter PFS than those with low expression. In addition, VEGFR2 expression was increased after combined immunotherapy in responders, which was decreased in non-responders. The most common grade 2 or higher adverse events were neutropenia, gastrointestinal reactions, and thyroid dysfunction, all of which were tolerated.ConclusionsImmunotherapy plus single-agent chemotherapy as a second- or later-line treatment is safe, effective, and tolerable for metastatic NSCLC. EV markers can be used as predictive markers of efficacy in patients with metastatic NSCLC treated with immunotherapy plus chemotherapy to help monitor treatment efficacy and guide treatment decisions

    Aflatoxin B1 Degradation and Detoxification by Escherichia coli CG1061 Isolated From Chicken Cecum

    Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is one of the most hazardous mycotoxins contamination in food and feed products, which leads to hepatocellular carcinoma in humans and animals. In the present study, we isolated and characterized an AFB1 degrading bacteria CG1061 from chicken cecum, exhibited an 93.7% AFB1 degradation rate by HPLC. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and a multiplex PCR experiment demonstrated that CG1061 was a non-pathogenic Escherichia coli. The culture supernatant of E. coli CG1061 showed an 61.8% degradation rate, whereas the degradation rates produced by the intracellular extracts was only 17.6%, indicating that the active component was constitutively secreted into the extracellular space. The degradation rate decreased from 61.8 to 37.5% when the culture supernatant was treated with 1 mg/mL proteinase K, and remained 51.3% when that treated with 100°C for 20 min. We postulated that AFB1 degradation was mediated by heat-resistant proteins. The content of AFB1 decreased rapidly when it was incubated with the culture supernatant during the first 24 h. The optimal incubation pH and temperature were pH 8.5 and 55°C respectively. According to the UPLC Q-TOF MS analysis, AFB1 was bio-transformed to the product C16H14O5 and other metabolites. Based on the results of in vitro experiments on chicken hepatocellular carcinoma (LMH) cells and in vivo experiments on mice, we confirmed that CG1061-degraded AFB1 are less toxic than the standard AFB1. E. coli CG1061 isolated from healthy chicken cerum is more likely to colonize the animal gut, which might be an excellent candidate for the detoxification of AFB1 in food and feed industry
