Evaluation of clinical outcome of laparoscopic hysterectomy versus open abdominal hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy in endometrial carcinoma early stage
Background: the aim of this study was to compare the operative, post-operative, and the oncological short-term outcomes of laparoscopic hysterectomy with lymphadenectomy and open abdominal hysterectomy with lymphadenectomy for early-stage endometrial cancer.Methods: 80 patients with clinical stage I endometrial cancer were enrolled in this trial; they were divided according to their selection of the method of intervention after counselling into two groups: total laparoscopic hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy group and total abdominal hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy group.Results: The mean operative time in the TLH group was 140.85± 10.033 minutes and was 118.45±12.713 minutes in the TAH group (p<0.001). The mean blood loss in the TLH group was 127.5±42.9 ml and 220.5± 84.82 ml in TAH group (p<0.001). The mean duration of postoperative ileus was 12.8±5.022 hours in the TLH group, and it was 22.3±5.573 hours in the TAH group (p<0.001). The mean time of hospital stay in the TLH group was 26.7±5.667 hours and in the TAH group was 116.4± 17.31 hours (p<0.001).Conclusions: Complete surgical staging of endometrial cancer can be performed using laparoscopy as an alternative to routine open method with similar efficacy about nodal retrieval and complication rate, and better operative and postoperative compliance in means of blood loss, ileus and hospital stay which may have an implication on cost saving in the medical service. Lymphadenectomy can be omitted in low-risk cases of endometrial cancer
Evaluating the In vivo Efficacy of Copper-Chitosan Nanocomposition for Treating Vascular Wilt Disease in Date Palm
Date palm, Phoenix dactylifera, as one of the most important fruit crops in Egypt and many other countries, can be affected by many fungal diseases, among which the vascular wilt disease, caused by the fungal pathogen Fusarium oxysporum, is considered the most deteriorating one. This study aims at evaluating the efficiency of Copper-Chitosan Nanopcomposition for treating the vascular wilt disease in date palm. The study relies mainly on beleaguering the disease via the double-role functionality of copper-chitosan nanocomposition, i.e. its potential antifungal effect on the fungal pathogen, besides its capability to enhance the immune responses of the infected plant. In this regard, chitosan nanoparticles were prepared according to the ionic gelation method, whereas copper nanoparticles were prepared according to the chemical reduction method. Physicochemical characterization of both chitosan and copper nanoparticles was performed using dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). Copper-chitosan nanocomposition could significantly reduce the vascular wilt disease severity; this means that the nanocomposition can be used in the future for developing new nano-fungicides to control such pathogens
Hemodynamic determinants of left atrial strain in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy:A combined echocardiography and CMR study
BackgroundLeft atrial (LA) strain is associated with symptomatic status and atrial fibrillation in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). However, hemodynamic determinants of LA reservoir (LARS), conduit, and pump strains have not been examined and data are needed on the relation of LA strain with exercise tolerance in HCM.MethodsFifty HCM patients with echocardiographic and CMR imaging within 30 days were included. Left ventricular (LV) volumes, mass, EF, scar extent, extracellular volume fraction (ECV), and LA maximum volume were measured by CMR. Echo studies were analyzed for mitral inflow, pulmonary vein flow, mitral annulus tissue Doppler velocities, LV global longitudinal strain, and LA strain. Twenty six patients able and willing to exercise underwent cardiopulmonary stress testing for peak oxygen consumption (MVO2), and VE/VCO2 slope. Patients were followed for clinical events.FindingsLARS was significantly associated with indices of LA systolic function, LV GLS, and LV filling pressures (PConclusionsLV structure, systolic and diastolic function, and LA systolic function determine the 3 components of LA strain. Synthesis and Reactivity of 6-Iodo-4H-3,1-Benzoxazin-4-one Towards Nitrogen Nucleophiles and Their Antimicrobial Activities
In attempt to find new pharmacological active molecules, we synthesized 6-iodo-4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one and allowed it to react with some nitrogen nucleophiles namely; hydroxylamine hydrochloride, hydrazine hydrate, fomamide, aliphatic amine, aromatic amines, aralkyl amine, different amino acids, heteryl amines, ethanolamine and sodium azide to afford annelated quinazolinone derivatives and other related systems. The synthesized compounds were characterized with the help of spectroscopic techniques including IR, 1H-NMR and Mass spectra. Also their antimicrobial activities were screened against different strains of bacteria and fungi. Relativistic Calculations for the Exclusive Photoproduction of Eta Mesons from Complex Nuclei
A relativistic model for the quasifree photoproduction of eta meson from
complex nuclei is developed. The interactions between fields are introduced
through effective Lagrangians. Contributions from several nucleon resonances as
well as nucleon Born terms and vector meson exchange diagrams are included.
Nucleon and eta wavefunctions are solutions of Dirac and Klein-Gordon
equations, respectively. Final state interactions of the outgoing particles are
included via optical potentials. The effects of these interactions on the cross
sections and photon asymmetries are studied and are found to be large.
Calculations indicate that at energies near threshold the exclusive reaction
takes place mainly through formation of the S_{11}(1535) resonance. Comparisons
with the non-relativistic calculations show differences between the two
approaches both for the cross sections and photon asymmetries. We give some
detailed predictions for the reaction observables for exclusive photoproduction
on ^{12}C, ^{16}O and ^{40}Ca.Comment: Latex, 27 pages, 13 uuencoded postscript figures. Accepted for

Non-locality and Medium Effects in the Exclusive Photoproduction of Eta Mesons on Nuclei
A relativistic model for the quasifree exclusive photoproduction of
mesons on nuclei is extended to include both non-local and medium effects. The
reaction is assumed to proceed via the dominant contribution of the
S(1535) resonance. The complicated integrals resulting from the
non-locality are simplified using a modified version of a method given by
Cooper and Maxwell. The non-locality effects are found to affect the magnitude
of the cross section. Some possibilities reflecting the effects of the medium
on the propagation and properties of the intermediate S resonance are
studied. The effects of allowing the S to interact with the medium via
mean field scalar and vector potentials are considered. Both broadening of
width and reduction in mass of the resonance lead to a suppression of the
calculated cross sections.Comment: 19 pages, 7 figure

Toronto, Ontario, Canada received 3730 patients. Of these 335 (9%) sustained a liver injury, 95% being
