    Longitudinal broadening of near side jets due to parton cascade

    Longitudinal broadening along Δη\Delta\eta direction on near side in two-dimensional (Δϕ×Δη\Delta\phi \times \Delta\eta) di-hadron correlation distribution has been studied for central Au+Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV, within a dynamical multi-phase transport model. It was found that the longitudinal broadening is generated by a longitudinal flow induced by strong parton cascade in central Au+Au collisions, in comparison with p+p collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV. The longitudinal broadening may shed light on the information about strongly interacting partonic matter at RHIC.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures; accepted by Eur. Phys. J.

    ddRAD Sequencing-Based Scanning of Genetic Variants in <i>Sargassum fusiforme</i>

    Sargassum fusiforme is a commercially important brown seaweed that has experienced significant population reduction both from heavy exploitation and degradation of the environment. Cultivated breed strains are also in a state of population mixing. These population stressors make it necessary to investigate the population genetics to discover best practices to conserve and breed this seaweed. In this study, the genetic diversity and population structure of S. fusiforme were investigated by the genome-wide SNP data acquired from double digest restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (ddRAD-seq). We found a low genetic diversity and a slight population differentiation within and between wild and cultivated populations, and the effective population size of S. fusiforme had experienced a continuous decline. Tajima’s D analysis showed the population contraction in wild populations may be related to copper pollution which showed a consistent trend with the increase of the sea surface temperature. The potential selection signatures may change the timing or level of gene expression, and further experiments are needed to investigate the effect of the mutation on relevant pathways. These results suggest an urgent need to manage and conserve S. fusiforme resources and biodiversity considering the accelerating change of the environment

    Investigating the Sustainability Performance of PPP-Type Infrastructure Projects: A Case of China

    In China, the demand for public infrastructure projects is high due to the acceleration of urbanization and the rapid growth of the economy in recent years. Infrastructures are mainly large scale, so local governments have difficulty in independently completing financing work. In this context, public sectors often seek cooperation from private sectors, in which public&#8315;private partnership (PPP) is increasingly common. Although numerous studies have concentrated on sustainable development, the unsustainability performances of infrastructures are often reported on various media. Furthermore, studies on the sustainability performances of PPP-type infrastructure (PTI) projects are few from the perspective of private sectors&#8217; behaviors. In this study, we adopted the modified theory of planned behavior and the structure equation model and conducted a questionnaire survey with 258 respondents for analyzing the sustainable behaviors of private sectors. Results indicated that behavioral attitude, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norm interact significantly. They have direct positive effects on behavioral intention and then indirectly influence actual behavior through this intention. Actual sustainable behaviors of private sectors have significantly positive effects on the sustainable development of cities. We offer theoretical and managerial implications for public and private sectors on the basis of the findings to ensure and promote the sustainability performances of PTI projects

    Magnetic field induced polarization difference between hyperons and anti-hyperons

    Recent STAR measurements suggest a difference in the global spin polarization between hyperons and anti-hyperons, especially at relatively low collision beam energy. One possible cause of this difference is the potential presence of in-medium magnetic field. In this study, we investigate the phenomenological viability of this interpretation. Using the AMPT model framework, we quantify the influence of different magnetic field evolution scenarios on the size of the polarization difference in a wide span of collision beam energies. We find that such difference is very sensitive to the lifetime of the magnetic field. For the same lifetime, the computed polarization difference only mildly depends on the detailed form of its evolution. Assuming magnetic polarization as the mechanism to enhance anti-hyperon signal while suppress hyperon signal, we phenomenologically extract an upper limit on the needed magnetic field lifetime in order to account for the experimental data. The so-obtained lifetime values are in a quite plausible ballpark and follow approximately the scaling relation of being inversely proportional to the beam energy. Possible implications on other magnetic field related effects are also discussed.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
