Global Stability for a Predator-Prey Model with Dispersal among Patches
We investigate a predator-prey model with dispersal for both predator and prey among n patches; our main purpose is to extend the global stability criteria by Li and Shuai (2010) on a predator-prey model with dispersal for prey among n patches. By using the method of constructing Lyapunov functions based on graph-theoretical approach for coupled systems, we derive sufficient conditions under which the positive coexistence equilibrium of this model is unique and globally asymptotically stable if it exists

Stability of Couette flow past a gel film
We study instability of a Newtonian Couette flow past a gel-like film in the limit of vanishing Reynolds number. Three models are explored including one hyperelastic (neo-Hookean) solid, and two viscoelastic (KelvinâVoigt and Zener) solids. Instead of using the conventional Lagrangian description in the solid phase for solving the displacement field, we construct equivalent âdifferentialâ models in an Eulerian reference frame, and solve for the velocity, pressure, and stress in both fluid and solid phases simultaneously. We find the interfacial instability is driven by the first-normal stress difference in the base-state solution in both hyperelastic and viscoelastic models. For the neo-Hookean solid, when subjected to a shear flow, the interface exhibits a short-wave (finite-wavelength) instability when the film is thin (thick). In the KelvinâVoigt and Zener solids where viscous effects are incorporated, instability growth is enhanced at small wavenumber but suppressed at large wavenumber, leading to a dominant finite-wavelength instability. In addition, adding surface tension effectively stabilizes the interface to sustain fluid shear
Cost Forecasting for Building Rebar under Uncertainty Conditions: Methodology and Practice
As large-scale infrastructure construction projects conclude, the overall civil construction market shrinks, leading to increased competition among construction companies. Accordingly, various construction companies are gradually emphasizing the issue of project costs. Numerous studies have shown the impact of material costs on the overall project cost. However, sharp fluctuations in material prices have been observed in recent years due to various unstable factors in the market. Thus, accurate prediction of material prices facilitates the development of appropriate material procurement strategies to deal with market risks. This paper collects the rebar prices announced in the first half of 2023 in Chinaâs Guangdong Province, selects one type of rebar price as a representative, and analyzes the time series characteristics of the rebar price composition. Then, it judges whether the time series passes the white noise detection, grey correlation detection, and level ratio detection. The prediction model is established based on the seasonal auto-regressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) model and the grey model (GM) (1.1) to predict future rebar prices. According to the characteristics of the rebar price data in June 2023, the residual inverse method combines the results predicted by the two models. The price in the early and middle of July 2023 is then predicted using the newly constructed combined model. The results indicate that the combined model is more accurate than the single prediction model
Case Report Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the stomach: a case report and literature review
Abstract: Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach is rare. Its pathogenesis is also unclear and there are conflicting reports about it in the past. Only about 100 cases have been reported so far in the literature. The current study discusses a new case of gastric squamous cell carcinoma, from a 50-year-old Chinese male patient diagnosed via subtotal gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y reconstruction and D2 lymphadenectomy. In the stomach, an ulcerated mass in the antrum, measuring 12Ă8Ă6 cm, was observed. Further, pathological examination of the resected specimen revealed a well-differentiated SCC. Observations indicated tumor cell invasion into the serosa, and encroachment into perigastric regional lymph node. A follow-up abdominal CT scan three months later revealed tumor invasion into the ascending colon. We assume that this invaded mass was transferred from the gastric squamous cell carcinoma. Interestingly, the patient is still alive
