    Terms of Trade Shocks and Endogenous Search Unemployment: A Two-sector Model with Non-Traded goods

    We develop a simple and tractable two-sector search model featuring a non-traded sector and endogenous search unemployment to examine the impact of terms of trade shocks on unemployment. We show that changes in terms of trade will not only lead to employment reallocation across sectors, as in the traditional trade models, but more importantly, impact upon search unemployment within each sector. Specifically, we show that an improvement (deterioration) of terms of trade reduces (increases) unemployment rates in both traded and non-traded sectors.two-sector search model, trade and unemployment, non-traded good

    Singularity problem in f(R) model with non-minimal coupling

    We consider the non-minimal coupling between matter and the geometry in the f(R) theory. In the new theory which we established, a new scalar ψ\psi has been defined and we give it a certain stability condition. We intend to take a closer look at the dark energy oscillating behavior in the de-Sitter universe and the matter era, from which we derive the oscillating frequency, and the oscillating condition. More importantly, we present the condition of coupling form that the singularity can be solved. We discuss several specific coupling forms, and find logarithmic coupling with an oscillating period ΔT∼Δz\Delta T\sim\Delta z in the matter era z>4z>4, can improve singularity in the early universe. The result of numerical calculation verifies our theoretic calculation about the oscillating frequency. Considering two toy models, we find the cosmic evolution in the coupling model is nearly the same as that in the normal f(R) theory when lna>4lna>4. We also discuss the local tests of the non-minimal coupling f(R) model, and show the constraint on the coupling form.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figure

    Angular Reconstruction of a Lead Scintillating-Fiber Sandwiched Electromagnetic Calorimeter

    A new method called Neighbor Cell Deposited Energy Ratio (NCDER) is proposed to reconstruct incidence position in a single layer for a 3-dimensional imaging electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL).This method was applied to reconstruct the ECAL test beam data for the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-02 (AMS-02). The results show that this method can achieve an angular resolution of 7.36\pm 0.08 / \sqrt(E) \oplus 0.28 \pm 0.02 degree in the determination of the photons direction, which is much more precise than that obtained with the commonly-adopted Center of Gravity(COG) method (8.4 \pm 0.1 /sqrt(E) \oplus 0.8\pm0.3 degree). Furthermore, since it uses only the properties of electromagnetic showers, this new method could also be used for other type of fine grain sampling calorimeters.Comment: 6 pages, 8 figure
