K-quantum Nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings Model in Two Trapped Ions

    Get PDF
A k-quantum nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model for two trapped ions interacting with laser beams resonant to k-th red side-band of center-of-mass mode, far from Lamb-Dicke regime, has been obtained. The exact analytic solution showed the existence of quantum collapses and revivals of the occupation of two atoms.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure

Search for anomalous top quark production at the early LHC

We present a detailed study of the anomalous top quark production with subsequent decay at the LHC induced by model-independent flavor-changing neutral-current couplings, incorporating the complete next-to-leading order QCD effects. Our results show that, taking into account the current limits from the Tevatron, the LHC with s=7\sqrt{s}=7 TeV may discover the anomalous coupling at 5σ\sigma level for a very low integrated luminosity of 61 pb1^{-1}. The discovery potentials for the anomalous couplings at the LHC are examined in detail. We also discuss the possibility of using the charge ratio to distinguish the tugtug and tcgtcg couplings.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, version appears in Phys. Rev. Let

Quantum-State Engineering of Multiple Trapped Ions for Center-of-Mass Mode

We propose a scheme to generate a superposition with arbitrary coefficients on a line in phase space for the center-of-mass vibrational mode of N ions by means of isolating all other spectator vibrational modes from the center-of-mass mode. It can be viewed as the generation of previous methods for preparing motional states of one ion. For large number of ions, we need only one cyclic operatin to generate such a superposition of many coherent states.Comment: 14 pages, revte

A Hidden Markov Model For Conversion Rate Dynamics In Online Retail

    Get PDF
In this study, we use a proprietary data set from an online marketplace to study the conversion rate dynamics in online retail. We examine how seller-level covariates, such as online sellers’ pricing and product strategies, service responsiveness, and other attributes, affect conversion rates. Specifically, we address the following research questions: (i) How do sellers’ covariates affect their conversion rates? (ii) Is the relationship between the conversion rate and sellers’ covariates state dependent? (iii) If the relationship is state dependent, what are the factors that determine the states and the state transitions? The estimation results indicate that there are two states that affect conversion rate dynamics. The relationship between the conversion rate and the sellers’ covariates is state dependent, that is, given the different states of sellers, the effects of the sellers’ covariates on their conversion rates are different. We also estimate the thresholds between states

Continuing Use of SNS Games for the Growth of Social Network Services

    Get PDF
By using Social Network Services (SNSs) as platforms, game developers have gathered a huge user base, and the entertainment these games provide has further enlarged the SNS user base. However, there are signs that this symbiotic growth is slowing down. We developed a model and tested 14 hypotheses. Our main findings are: Although SNSs are “social,” “social norms” do not have much impact on the intention to use the games continually. Although users generally are not addicted to SNS games, the creation of addiction is an effective way to achieve continuance

Piyo Piyo, yellow duck, from Cayman Tung Ling Industrial Co., Ltd. is not unfamiliar to those who were born in the 70’s and 80’s, merchandise and toys of the brand are their childhood memories. Tung Ling’s Piyo Piyo was found in 1988, over the years, it has over 400 retail branches around the world; however, in this Internet prospered 21st era, even an old brand, such as Tung Ling needs to use its advantages to elevate itself from competitions, especially in e-commerce field. One of the major tasks for Tung Ling is to build and develop a method for e-commerce, and the founder of the company listed this effort as one of the ten key accomplishments within the next 10 years; moreover, it will have more professionals and active discussions regarding the matter in order to thrive in web commerce

WATER ENTRY HYDROELASTICITY ANALYSIS OF LATTICE SANDWICH PANEL WITH IMPERFECTION: SIMULATION AND ENGINEERING MODEL

    Get PDF
In the present work, the three dimensional (3D) hydroelasticity characteristics of imperfect lattice sandwich panel (ILSP) subjected to water entry via analytical prediction and numerical simulations are proposed. Firstly, numerical investigations are performed on water entry characteristics based on Arbitrary Eulerian-Lagrange (ALE) coupling method for modeling fluid-structure interaction (FSI) at an impact velocity of 5.0m/s. The results show the impact pressure on total FSI surface of ILSP is generally lower than that of the perfect lattice sandwich panel. Then a novel semi-analytical method to calculate the elastic constants of ILSP is introduced. Based on this approach, an engineering computational model is developed to predict the deformation of ILSP, in which the total deformation is separated into two parts; local field deformation and global field deformation. Good agreement between the numerical and analytical results is achieved. And the effects of geometric parameters such as the thickness of face sheet, height of ILSP and relative density of core are discussed
