An Advanced Conceptual Diagnostic Healthcare Framework for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disorders
The data mining along with emerging computing techniques have astonishingly
influenced the healthcare industry. Researchers have used different Data Mining
and Internet of Things (IoT) for enrooting a programmed solution for diabetes
and heart patients. However, still, more advanced and united solution is needed
that can offer a therapeutic opinion to individual diabetic and cardio
patients. Therefore, here, a smart data mining and IoT (SMDIoT) based advanced
healthcare system for proficient diabetes and cardiovascular diseases have been
proposed. The hybridization of data mining and IoT with other emerging
computing techniques is supposed to give an effective and economical solution
to diabetes and cardio patients. SMDIoT hybridized the ideas of data mining,
Internet of Things, chatbots, contextual entity search (CES), bio-sensors,
semantic analysis and granular computing (GC). The bio-sensors of the proposed
system assist in getting the current and precise status of the concerned
patients so that in case of an emergency, the needful medical assistance can be
provided. The novelty lies in the hybrid framework and the adequate support of
chatbots, granular computing, context entity search and semantic analysis. The
practical implementation of this system is very challenging and costly.
However, it appears to be more operative and economical solution for diabetes

Studying and Modeling the Connection between People's Preferences and Content Sharing
People regularly share items using online social media. However, people's
decisions around sharing---who shares what to whom and why---are not well
understood. We present a user study involving 87 pairs of Facebook users to
understand how people make their sharing decisions. We find that even when
sharing to a specific individual, people's own preference for an item
(individuation) dominates over the recipient's preferences (altruism). People's
open-ended responses about how they share, however, indicate that they do try
to personalize shares based on the recipient. To explain these contrasting
results, we propose a novel process model of sharing that takes into account
people's preferences and the salience of an item. We also present encouraging
results for a sharing prediction model that incorporates both the senders' and
the recipients' preferences. These results suggest improvements to both
algorithms that support sharing in social media and to information diffusion

Model Predictive BESS Control for Demand Charge Management and PV-Utilization Improvement
Adoption of battery energy storage systems for behind-the-meters application
offers valuable benefits for demand charge management as well as increasing
PV-utilization. The key point is that while the benefit/cost ratio for a single
application may not be favorable for economic benefits of storage systems,
stacked services can provide multiple revenue streams for the same investment.
Under this framework, we propose a model predictive controller to reduce demand
charge cost and enhance PV-utilization level simultaneously. Different load
patterns have been considered in this study and results are compared to the
conventional rule-based controller. The results verified that the proposed
controller provides satisfactory performance by improving the PV-utilization
rate between 60% to 80% without significant changes in demand charge (DC)
saving. Furthermore, our results suggest that batteries can be used for
stacking multiple services to improve their benefits. Quantitative analysis for
PV-utilization as a function of battery size and prediction time window has

The Crystallography of Strange Quark Matter
Cold three-flavor quark matter at large (but not asymptotically large)
densities may exist as a crystalline color superconductor. We explore this
possibility by calculating the gap parameter Delta and free energy Omega(Delta)
for possible crystal structures within a Ginzburg-Landau approximation,
evaluating Omega(Delta) to order Delta^6. We develop a qualitative
understanding of what makes a crystal structure stable, and find two structures
with particularly large values of Delta and the condensation energy, within a
factor of two of those for the CFL phase known to characterize QCD at
asymptotically large densities. The robustness of these phases results in their
being favored over wide ranges of density and though it also implies that the
Ginzburg-Landau approximation is not quantitatively reliable, previous work
suggests that it can be trusted for qualitative comparisons between crystal
structures. We close with a look ahead at the calculations that remain to be
done in order to make contact with observed pulsar glitches and neutron star

The present study reports the distribution of ABO and Rh blood groups among the Kunbis (Maratha) population of Amravati district. The phenotypic frequency of blood group B is observed highest (33.06) percent, O (31.04), A (27.02) and AB is lowest (08.33) percent. The phenotypic frequency of Rh negative is (04.26) percent. TheKunbis (Maratha) population shows close genetic relationship with the Gujratis
Overcoming Managerial Challenges to Realize Growth Spurts: Insights from Cases of Three Enterprises
Organizations face several managerial challenges during their growth period. Growth spurts are realized when organizations overcome these challenges. Though the literature is full of studies on the enterprise growth, the knowledge about how these challenges facilitate or hinder growth is limited. We conceptualize and explain five challenges faced by an enterprise along its growth trajectory. For evidence, we then look at history of three organizations from different sectors and trace their strategies to overcome the challenges faced by them. The firm and the environment interact and make certain strategic choices, which in turn results in growth spurts in the organization. We draw insights from their growth stories and discuss the different strategies and interactions between the firm and the environment.
Role of ‘corporate persistence’ and ‘environmental support’ in building breakthrough capability: Empirical investigation of Samsung’s initiatives in memory and microwave oven business
It is now an incontrovertible fact that capabilities are the source of competitive advantage. However, the process through which firms build capabilities over a period of time is only partially understood. Concepts like learning, resource combination, and co-evolution can be categorized as enablers as they support capability formation. On the other hand, concepts like inertia and path dependence can be categorized as restrictors as they constrain the process of capability formation. Combined together, while these concepts hint in the right direction, there is a need to have concepts that explain the process of capability formation holistically. An endeavour towards this objective would require taking into account the role of internal and external events. This paper builds concepts of ‘corporate persistence’ and ‘environmental support’ to explain their role in building breakthrough capability by examining major events in the evolution of two mega high technology business belonging to the Samsung group.
