Electrodynamics Modified by Some Dimension-five Lorentz Violating Interactions: Radiative Corrections
We study radiative corrections to massless quantum electrodynamics modified
by two dimension-five LV interactions and in
the framework of effective field theories. All divergent
one-particle-irreducible Feynman diagrams are calculated at one-loop order and
several related issues are discussed. It is found that massless quantum
electrodynamics modified by the interaction alone is one-loop renormalizable and the result can be
understood on the grounds of symmetry. In this context the one-loop
Lorentz-violating beta function is derived and the corresponding running
coefficients are obtained.Comment: 13 pages, 1 figure. Version to appear in EPJ
Holographic Complexity Growth Rate in Horndeski Theory
Based on the context of complexity = action (CA) conjecture, we calculate the
holographic complexity of AdS black holes with planar and spherical topologies
in Horndeski theory. We find that the rate of change of holographic complexity
for neutral AdS black holes saturates the Lloyd's bound. For charged black
holes, we find that there exists only one horizon and thus the corresponding
holographic complexity can't be expressed as the difference of some
thermodynamical potential between two horizons as that of Reissner-Nordstrom
AdS black hole in Einstein-Maxwell theory. However, the Lloyd's bound is not
violated for charged AdS black hole in Horndeski theory.Comment: 20 pages, 6 figures, references added, typos correcte
On Functional Decomposition of Multivariate Polynomials with Differentiation and Homogenization
In this paper, we give a theoretical analysis for the algorithms to compute
functional decomposition for multivariate polynomials based on differentiation
and homogenization which are proposed by Ye, Dai, Lam (1999) and Faugere,
Perret (2006, 2008, 2009). We show that a degree proper functional
decomposition for a set of randomly decomposable quartic homogenous polynomials
can be computed using the algorithm with high probability. This solves a
conjecture proposed by Ye, Dai, and Lam (1999). We also propose a conjecture
such that the decomposition for a set of polynomials can be computed from that
of its homogenization with high probability. Finally, we prove that the right
decomposition factors for a set of polynomials can be computed from its right
decomposition factor space. Combining these results together, we prove that the
algorithm can compute a degree proper decomposition for a set of randomly
decomposable quartic polynomials with probability one when the base field is of
characteristic zero, and with probability close to one when the base field is a
finite field with sufficiently large number under the assumption that the
conjeture is correct
Portrait of internationlized curriculum at the University of Saskatchewan
My study sought to explore one aspect of the internationalization process at the University of Saskatchewan through an examination of the internationalization of some of its curriculum. My research concentrated on the courses in the College of Education and the College of Commerce in order to find out the numbers of internationalized curricula in the two colleges. I sought the proportion of the courses in the two colleges that had an international/intercultural perspective or content and also to discover how the courses had been internationalized. The definition of internationalized curriculum in my study was based on the study by OECD (1996). A number of keywords were selected as indicators of internationalized curriculum according to its definition and characteristics of the nine typologies created by OECD. A document analysis approach was adopted in my study through the data collected from the various university websites, course calendar descriptions, outlines, and related course materials. I hope that my analysis of the profile and characteristics of courses in the two colleges will help instructors and administrators in the University of Saskatchewan and beyond to consider the significance of implementing internationalized curriculum and to improve or create more programs and curricula that would have an increased international or intercultural orientation
