    Get PDF
In the field of Computer Science and Information Technology, it goes without saying that the focus has been shifted from the System Oriented software to the User Oriented software. Naturally, for such software applications, the importance of User Experience has gained a paradigm shift. The paper highlights the significance of a seamless interaction between the user and the computer by proposing a reliable algorithm for performing basic operations by drawing gestures with a mouse. It aims to embrace simplicity and quick access using gestures and providing effortless interaction for the uniquely abled users. The core of the algorithm comes from the Hidden Markov Model, which is emblematic of a probabilistic approach for gesture recognition. DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.15050

Background: Labour induction is one of the most common intervention in obstetric practice. A simple application of PGE2 intracervical gel can ripen the cervix effectively and improve Bishop’s score there by helping in successful vaginal delivery. Considering its good performance, the dinoprostone slow-release vaginal insert is the first choice for elective induction of labour in postdate pregnancy and in patients with term pregnancy of premature rupture of membranes. Methods: This was a single year retrospective study conducted in a tertiary care center of western India from May 2019 to May 2020.Results: In group I women who delivered within 24 hours were included, in group II women who required re-instillation were included. The most common indication for induction in both the groups was past dates (accounting for 36.1% in group I and 47.3% in group II). The success rate in group I was 68.1% while in group II was 36.8%.  The rate of cesarean delivery in group I was 25.9%, while in Group II, it was 60.1%. Negligible maternal and neonatal complications were seen in both the groups.  Conclusions: The study showed that intracervical application of prostaglandin E2 is an effective, safe and acceptable method for induction of labor in women with unfavorable cervix and indications for induction. All these effects were achieved without increasing maternal and neonatal morbidity

The Relationship of Cardiovascular Disease to 30-Day Hospital Readmission Among Older Adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Reducing thirty-day hospital readmissions is a top healthcare priority. However, there is little research describing the risk factors of readmission among patients with diabetes, especially for older adults. Understanding what the risk factors are for 30-day hospital readmission for older adults with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) would help identify patients at risk of rehospitalization. The aim of this study was to identify factors associated with 30-day unplanned hospital readmissions among older adults with T2DM.Factors to be investigated are: patient demographics and whether the patient was hospitalized for cardiovascular disease. Participants were older adults\u3e65 years old with T2DM, admitted to a community hospital from January 2012-January 2017.Of 843 patients, 200 were randomly selected to have their electronic medical records reviewed for this study.Patients readmitted within 30 days of discharge were similar to patients who were not readmitted on most demographic characteristics, except for hospitalization in the 12 months before admission. Readmitted patients were more likely to have been hospitalized for cardiovascular disease than not readmitted patients. Older adults with T2DM who were readmitted within 30 days post-discharge were more likely to have had a previous hospitalization and more likely to have been hospitalized for cardiovascular disease.Future analyses will incorporate additional potential predictors of unplanned hospital readmissions

Factors to be investigated are: patient demographics, whether patients were at risk for falling, and patients’ activities of daily living (ADL) at discharge. Methods: Participants were older adults \u3e 65 years old with T2DM, admitted to a community hospital from January 2012-January 2017. Of 843 patients, 200 were randomly selected to have their electronic medical records reviewed for this study. Results: Patients readmitted within 30 days of discharge were similar to patients who were not readmitted on most demographic characteristics, except for hospitalization in the 12 months before admission. No statistically significant differences were found between readmitted and not readmitted patients on whether they were at risk for falls or their ADLS at discharge. Conclusion: Older adults with T2DM who were readmitted within 30 days post-discharge were more likely to have had a previous hospitalization. Readmitted patients did not differ from not readmitted patients on risk for falls or ADLs at discharge. Future analyses will incorporate additional potential predictors of unplanned hospital readmissions

The importance of predicting stock market prices cannot be overstated. It is a pivotal task for investors and financial institutions as it enables them to make informed investment decisions, manage risks, and ensure the stability of the financial system. Accurate stock market predictions can help investors maximize their returns and minimize their losses, while financial institutions can use this information to develop effective risk management policies. However, stock market prediction is a challenging task due to the complex nature of the stock market and the multitude of factors that can affect stock prices. As a result, advanced technologies such as deep learning are being increasingly utilized to analyze vast amounts of data and provide valuable insights into the behavior of the stock market. While deep learning has shown promise in accurately predicting stock prices, there is still much research to be done in this area.Comment: 14 pages, 9 figures, 5 table

Background: Pterygium is a degenerative ocular surface disorder with wing shaped fibrovascular growth of the subconjunctival tissue onto the cornea. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the surgical outcome of suture less technique with graft suturing technique for conjunctival autograft fixation following pterygium excision. Materials And Methods: This was a prospective interventional case study including 50 eyes with pterygium requiring surgical excision. Operated eyes were divided into two equal groups; Group-1 where conjunctival limbal autograft was placed without using sutures after pterygium excision and Group-2 where conjunctival limbal autograft was fixed by 10-0 ethilon monofilament sutures. Results: Group-1 had shorter duration of surgery (p < 0.001), less postoperative complaints (p < 0.001) and greater patient satisfaction (p < 0.001) than Group-2. Postoperative complications and improvement in visual acuity was same in both groups. Recurrence was not significant in both groups until 6 months of follow up. Conclusions: Patients who underwent suture less autologous graft fixation had comparatively less operative time, less postoperative symptoms and greater satisfaction than graft fixation with sutures post pterygium excision surgery

Background: AUB (abnormal uterine bleeding) is defined as any variation from the normal menstrual cycle including alteration in its frequency, regularity of menses, duration of flow and amount of blood loss. In India, the reported prevalence of AUB is 17.9%. It can occur any time between menarche to menopause. A good clinician tries to recognize and identify the causative factors responsible for the disease, reverse the abnormality and induce or restore the cyclic predictable menses which should have normal volume and duration. Methods: 200 cases of AUB fitting the selection criteria were taken from OPD and gynecology ward between September 2020 to June 2021.Results: AUB was more common in the age group 41-45 years, that is, perimenopausal age group, more in multiparous women and women with previous surgeries on uterus and adnexa. Heavy menstrual bleeding was the most common complaint. Endometrial hyperplasia was the most common finding on ultrasound examination. Medical therapy was beneficial in some patients, rest had to undergo surgical intervention later. Conclusions: Transvaginal sonography is very accurate in assessing the endometrium as well as uterus and adnexa and diagnosing their abnormalities. Medical therapy is the first line of management in most cases. Dilatation and curettage should be used along with hysteroscopy for better results. LNG-IUS gives very good result in suitable cases. Hysterectomy is the final measure if everything else fails. Vaginal hysterectomy is preferred wherever possible
