The monomeric title compound, C9H6BrCl2NO3S, has an envelope-shaped thiazine ring with the S atom 0.879 (9) Å out of the mean square plane of the envelope. The π–π distances between the centroids of the heterocyclic rings are 4.191 (5) and 4.110 (5) Å. The closest intermolecular interactions between the O atoms of the carbonyl and sulfonyl groups with Br and Cl atoms are 2.987 (7) and 2.992 (8) Å, respectively

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C12H17NO4S, contains two molecules, both of which show disorder of the two terminal C atoms of the propyl chain over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.581 (6):0.419 (6). Intramolecular C—H⋯O interactions help to establish the molecular conformations: in one molecule, the dihedral angle between the methyl ester group and the benzene ring is 41.0 (2)°, whereas in the other molecule it is 36.12 (17)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked by intermolecular C—H⋯O and C—H⋯π interactions

Objective: To assess the Quality Of Life (QOL) in children with epilepsy using modified QOLCE-55 questionnaire. Material and Methods: We consecutively enrolled children aged 4 to 16 years who were under treatment for childhood epilepsy. Basic demographic and clinical details including type of epilepsy, developmental history, family history of epilepsy and any co-morbidity were recorded in a predesigned Performa. QOL was evaluated by using modified QOLCE-55 (39 items) from parents. Results: A total of 54 children were enrolled in the study, 42 (78%) were males and 12(22%) were female children with epilepsy.  Eight children got good QOLCE score, while 24 children had average and 22 children got a poor score. The good score was mostly seen in 4-8 years (40%) of age while the poor score was seen in 12-16 years (70%) age group. Age of the patients (p=<0.001), gender (p=<0.001), associated co-morbidities (p=0.003) and family history of epilepsy (p=0.011) showed a significant effect on the QOLCE score. Type of epilepsy (p= 0.825) and development of a child (p=0.109) did not affect the QOLCE score significantly. Conclusion: The study showed that Children with co-morbidities, family history of epilepsy and female children of older age group (12-16 years) had poor QOL. Types of seizures and development of the child did not significantly alter the QOLCE score

The title compound, C13H19NO2S, was synthesized by the reaction of N-cyclohexylaminebenzenesulfonamide and methyl iodide. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds

Genetic and clinical demographics of adult cystic fibrosis patients in a middle eastern population

OBJECTIVE: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the commonest life-limiting inherited illness in the Caucasian population but is uncommon in the Middle East, and so the genotypes and clinical course of disease in this population is not well known. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In this retrospective observational study, we collected and reviewed the data on CF mutations, body mass index (BMI), lung function, microbiology, and the demographics in adult CF patients in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). RESULTS: Data was reviewed for 39 adult CF patients. The median age of adult CF patients presenting to our clinic was 25 years (inter-quartile range (IQR) 22-31), the median BMI was 19 (IQR 17-22), and the median percentage predicted forced expiratory volume at 1 second (FEV1) was 49.5% (IQR 38.5-62.5). S549R was the commonest mutation (n = 11, 28%) followed by ∆F508 (n = 9, 23%). Only 5 (13%) out of 39 patients were heterozygote for CF mutations which reflects the high level of consanguinity in the region. Twelve (30%) patients were diagnosed after the age of 16, and in total, 19 (48%) were diagnosed after the age of 10. Thirty-two (82%) of patients are pseudomonas colonized, and 31% had 3 or more exacerbations in the last 12 months. CONCLUSION: The CF mutation patterns in the UAE are different from western populations with low ∆F508 prevalence, with the presence of rare mutations more specific to this region and a high rate of homozygosity. Late diagnosis, high pseudomonas colonization rate, and exacerbation frequency remain a problem in this region and lead to poor long-term outcomes

The title compound, C15H21NO2S, synthesized by N-alkylation of cyclohexylamine benzenesulfonamide with allyl iodide, is of interest as a precursor to biologically active sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds. The cyclohexane ring is in a chair form and its mean plane makes a dihedral angle of 53.84 (12)° with the phenyl ring

The title compound, C14H21NO2S, synthesized by N-methylation of cyclohexylamine sulfonamide with ethyl iodide is of interest as a precursor to biologically active sulfur-containing heterocyclic compounds. There are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the phenyl ring and the cyclohexyl ring are 40.29 (11) and 37.91 (13)° in the two molecules

The crystal structure of the title compound, C14H21NO2S, is a polymorph of the structure reported by Khan et al. [Acta Cryst. (2009), E65, o2867] which is also monoclinic (space group P21/c). The unit cell in the title structure is approximately half the volume of the previously reported polymorph and the asymmetric unit of the title compound contains one molecule rather than two independent molecules in the other polymorph. In the title molecule, the cyclohexane ring is in the typical chair form. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked via weak intermolecular C—H⋯O interactions, forming a chain along the b-axis direction
