Guaranteeing Spatial Uniformity in Diffusively-Coupled Systems
We present a condition that guarantees spatially uniformity in the solution
trajectories of a diffusively-coupled compartmental ODE model, where each
compartment represents a spatial domain of components interconnected through
diffusion terms with like components in different compartments. Each set of
like components has its own weighted undirected graph describing the topology
of the interconnection between compartments. The condition makes use of the
Jacobian matrix to describe the dynamics of each compartment as well as the
Laplacian eigenvalues of each of the graphs. We discuss linear matrix
inequalities that can be used to verify the condition guaranteeing spatial
uniformity, and apply the result to a coupled oscillator network. Next we turn
to reaction-diffusion PDEs with Neumann boundary conditions, and derive an
analogous condition guaranteeing spatial uniformity of solutions. The paper
contributes a relaxed condition to check spatial uniformity that allows
individual components to have their own specific diffusion terms and
interconnection structures
Factors affecting e-government adoption in the state of Qatar
Electronic government (e-government) initiatives are in their early stages in many developing countries and faced with various issues pertaining to their implementation, adoption and diffusion. Although e-government has increased transparency and improved communication and access to information for citizens, digital diffusion of information is often achieved at high cost to government agencies. Conversely, citizens’ adoption of e-government services has been less than satisfactory in most countries. While studies by researchers continue to outline the most salient adoption constructs, as well as various frameworks and models for understanding adoption, research by independent consultancy/research organisations has produced a host of statistics and league tables of good and bad practices of service delivery. Like many other developing countries, the e-government initiative in the state of Qatar has faced a number of challenges since its inception in 2000. This study utilises the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to explore the adoption of e-government services in the state of Qatar. 1179 citizens were surveyed to collect primary data. A regression analysis was conducted to examine the influence of the factors adapted from the UTAUT on e-government adoption. Reliability test reported values of the various constructs vary between (0.74) and (0.91). The findings reveal that effort expectancy and social influences determine citizens’ behavioural intention towards e-government. Additionally, facilitating conditions and behavioural intention were found to determine citizens’ use of e-government services in Qatar. Implications for practice and research are discussed
An Adaptive Algorithm for Synchronization in Diffusively Coupled Systems
We present an adaptive algorithm that guarantees synchronization in
diffusively coupled systems. We first consider compartmental systems of ODEs,
where each compartment represents a spatial domain of components interconnected
through diffusion terms with like components in different compartments. Each
set of like components may have its own weighted undirected graph describing
the topology of the interconnection between compartments. The link weights are
updated adaptively according to the magnitude of the difference between
neighboring agents connected by the link. We next consider reaction-diffusion
PDEs with Neumann boundary conditions, and derive an analogous algorithm
guaranteeing spatial homogenization of solutions. We provide a numerical
example demonstrating the results
Sparticle Spectroscopy with Neutralino Dark matter from t-b-tau Quasi-Yukawa Unification
We consider two classes of t-b-tau quasi-Yukawa unification scenarios which
can arise from realistic supersymmetric SO(10) and SU(4)_C X SU(2)_L X SU(2)_R
models. We show that these scenarios can be successfully implemented in the
CMSSM and NUHM1 frameworks, and yields a variety of sparticle spectra with WMAP
compatible neutralino dark matter. In NUHM1 we find bino-higgsino dark matter
as well as the stau coannihilation and A-funnel solutions. The CMSSM case
yields the stau coannihilation and A-funnel solutions. The gluino and squark
masses are found to lie in the TeV range.Comment: 21 pages, 12 figures, 2 table
