Fine copy of the abridgement and rendering into Persian by Abū al-Faz̤l Muḥammad ibn ʻUmar ibn Khālid Jamāl al-Qarshī of the renowned Arabic lexicon, Tāj al-lughah wa-ṣiḥāḥ al-ʻArabīyah, commonly known as al-Ṣiḥāḥ, by Abū Naṣr Ismāʻīl ibn Ḥammād al-Jawharī (d.1009?).Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. OSd) and pendants, along with tooled rule border ; sewn in cream thread, two stations, many threads broken ; manuscript 'waste' guards on many bifolia ; worked chevron endbands in light green and cream, fairly good condition ; overall in somewhat poor condition with some abrasion, staining, lower board severely compromised (failure of the adhesive, full delamination and losses of pasteboard material) and now quite soft, cover detached at spine with most gatherings loose, etc. ; housed in box for protection.Support: non-European (likely Persian or Indian) laid paper, possibly of more than one type ; mainly with 6-7 laid lines per cm.
