Crisis y futuro de la Seguridad Social
El objetivo que se persigue en este artículo es plantearse el futuro de nuestro sistema de seguridad social. Para ello, se procede al análisis de la crisis financiera que actualmente le amenaza, poniéndola en relación con un esquema general de interpretación de la crisis económica. Finalmente se pasa revista al proyecto, o proyectos parciales, que en estos momentos está implantando el gobierno con el objetivo de reformar el sistema

El tema de la conferencia, “Tipos de interés a largo plazo. Estancamiento secular y desapalancamiento”, hace referencia a la conexión entre los tipos de intervención de los bancos centrales con el tipo de interés natural o de equilibrio, para generar la restricción que opera sobre los bancos centrales y elevar sus tipos de intervención. En una segunda parte se explica los determinantes que se encuentran detrás de la disminución de los tipos de equilibrio observados durante los últimos años. Se estudian dos tipos de determinantes, en primer lugar se presenta la relación entre los procesos de desapalancamientos emprendidos por familias y empresas, y la presión a la baja de los tipos de equilibrio; y en segundo lugar se aborda la explicación que conecta esta disminución con un problema de estancamiento secular inducido tanto por un déficit de demanda como por restricciones de oferta.Universidad de Málaga. An End to a Means: How DNA-End Structure Shapes the Double-Strand Break Repair Process
Endogenously-arising DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) rarely harbor canonical 5'-phosphate, 3'-hydroxyl moieties at the ends, which are, regardless of the pathway used, ultimately required for their repair. Cells are therefore endowed with a wide variety of enzymes that can deal with these chemical and structural variations and guarantee the formation of ligatable termini. An important distinction is whether the ends are directly "unblocked" by specific enzymatic activities without affecting the integrity of the DNA molecule and its sequence, or whether they are "processed" by unspecific nucleases that remove nucleotides from the termini. DNA end structure and configuration, therefore, shape the repair process, its requirements, and, importantly, its final outcome. Thus, the molecular mechanisms that coordinate and integrate the cellular response to blocked DSBs, although still largely unexplored, can be particularly relevant for maintaining genome integrity and avoiding malignant transformation and cancer.España, Junta de Andalucía SAF2017-89619-R, CVI-7948European Research Council (ERC-CoG-2014-647359

El presente documento incluye un análisis, diseño e implementación de un Data Warehouse para la empresa Librería Pacífico, para ayudar a la toma de decisiones estratégicas dentro del negocio. Haciendo uso de la arquitectura de Kimball se modeló el diseño de la base de datos para el data warehouse de una manera óptima y se implementó la solución usando Talend, para los procesos ETL, servicios de AWS para el almacenamiento de datos y PowerBi para la presentación de los mismo
Shared decision making in patients with substance use disorders : A one-year follow-up study
Patient-centered care in therapeutic processes has been associated with better clinical outcomes, however, it remains a poorly studied aspect in Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The study aimed to evaluate patient's preferences, perceived participation in treatment decisions and activation level; and how they predict retention, pharmacological adherence and substance use during one-year follow-up. Logistic regression models were used to analyze the association between independent variables, along with a wide number of sociodemographic and clinical covariates, and outcomes. Most patients prefer a shared or passive role when making decisions about their treatment, and showed concordance between their preferred and perceived roles. In the univariate models, perceiving more involvement than desired showed a higher likelihood of treatment discontinuation at 12 months, and substance use at 6 and 12 months. No significant associations were found between the remaining decisional variables or the degree of activation with the assessed outcomes. A majority of SUD patients prefer and perceive to be involved in the decision-making process about their treatment. Patients perceiving more involvement than desired might experience an excess of responsibility that could negatively influence treatment continuation and substance use. Limitations of the study preclude any definitive conclusion, and more research is needed to confirm these results
Addressing the Location Problem of a Perishables Redistribution Center in the Middle of Europe
This work aims to contribute to the debate on practical utilization of different location models for consolidation, redistribution, and repackaging centers in a supply chain to optimize shipments, thereby reducing food loss and waste, within the framework of quality of customer service improvement. The scenario in question is the creation of a redistribution center for highly perishable products (fruits and vegetables) from southeast Spain—the leading European supplier—for customers throughout Europe. It is estimated that 10% of exports (more than 530,000 metric tons) from this area are returned by customers due to minor defects. These products cannot be reused and are therefore wasted. Regarding the methodology, comparisons were made between the p-median, gravity p-median, and p-center models. Scenarios of change in demand and randomness in distances were also tested. In addition, the modelling used included the cost and time within a multicriteria optimization framework to assess the possibility of a transport mode change. It was observed, for example, that the gravity p-median model proved useful for perishable products and the logistics strategy chosen. Furthermore, the p-median model displayed strong robustness against long-term changes in demand and random distances. In general, it was demonstrated that this strategy would successfully reduce the response time and distance of shipment from the distribution center to the customers and thereby improve sustainability of the service, reducing the waste related to direct shipments. Furthermore, this research also demonstrated the difficulty of using intermodality in this context, mainly due to transit time, which would undoubtedly increase the waste generate

Mycobacterium tuberculosis acquires limited genetic diversity in prolonged infections, reactivations and transmissions involving multiple hosts

Analysis of its microevolution might help us to evaluate the pathways followed to acquire greater infective success. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) in the analysis of the transmission of MTB has elucidated the magnitude of variability in MTB. Analysis of transmission currently depends on the identification of clusters, according to the threshold of variability (<5 SNPs) between isolates. Objective: We evaluated whether the acquisition of variability in MTB, was more frequent in situations which could favor it, namely intrapatient, prolonged infections or reactivations and interpatient transmissions involving multiple sequential hosts. Methods: We used WGS to analyze the accumulation of variability in sequential isolates from prolonged infections or translations from latency to reactivation. We then measured microevolution in transmission clusters with prolonged transmission time, high number of involved cases, simultaneous involvement of latency and active transmission. Results: Intrapatient and interpatient acquisition of variability was limited, within the ranges expected according to the thresholds of variability proposed, even though bursts of variability were observed. Conclusions: The thresholds of variability proposed for MTB seem to be valid in most circumstances, including those theoretically favoring acquisition of variability. Our data point to multifactorial modulation of microevolution, although further studies are necessary to elucidate the factors underlying this modulation.publishersversionPeer reviewe
