Strategic motivators and expected benefits from e-Commerce in traditional organisations
This paper aims to identify the strategic motivators and expected benefits related to the implementation of e-commerce infrastructures in traditional “brick and mortar” organisations. Despite the fact that the clearest benefit from e-commerce might be expected to come from contribution to corporate profits, either from an increase of sales or reduction of costs, but this may not be the case. The literature suggests that there are different ways in which the potential benefits can be assessed. These ways are directly related to the evolution of e-commerce. This research has chosen six representative organisations from different sectors to explore their rationales for their e-commerce strategies. One of the main benefits reported is to increase the focus on the customer and improving internal communications. Additionally, obtaining competitive advantage was found to be a powerful motivator, despite the fact that the recent academic literature suggests that this is very difficult to achieve
A 3D Printed Toolbox for Opto-Mechanical Components
Nowadays is very common to find headlines in the media where it is stated
that 3D printing is a technology called to change our lives in the near future.
For many authors, we are living in times of a third industrial revolution.
Howerver, we are currently in a stage of development where the use of 3D
printing is advantageous over other manufacturing technologies only in rare
scenarios. Fortunately, scientific research is one of them. Here we present the
development of a set of opto-mechanical components that can be built easily
using a 3D printer based on Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) and parts that can
be found on any hardware store. The components of the set presented here are
highly customizable, low-cost, require a short time to be fabricated and offer
a performance that compares favorably with respect to low-end commercial

Quark-Meson Coupling model based upon the Nambu-Jona Lasinio model
The NJL model for the octet baryons, using proper time regularization to
simulate some of the features of confinement, is solved self-consistently in
nuclear matter. This provides an alternative framework to the MIT bag model
which has been used in the quark-meson coupling model. After fitting the
parameters of the model to the saturation properties of symmetric nuclear
matter the model is used to explore the equation of state of pure neutron
matter as well as nuclear matter at densities relevant to heavy ion collisions.
With a view to future studies of high mass neutron stars, the binding of

Phonon surface mapping of graphite: disentangling quasi--degenerate phonon dispersions
The two-dimensional mapping of the phonon dispersions around the point of
graphite by inelastic x-ray scattering is provided. The present work resolves
the longstanding issue related to the correct assignment of transverse and
longitudinal phonon branches at . We observe an almost degeneracy of the
three TO, LA and LO derived phonon branches and a strong phonon trigonal
warping. Correlation effects renormalize the Kohn anomaly of the TO mode, which
exhibits a trigonal warping effect opposite to that of the electronic band
structure. We determined the electron--phonon coupling constant to be
166 in excellent agreement to calculations. These results
are fundamental for understanding angle-resolved photoemission,
double--resonance Raman and transport measurements of graphene based systems
An approach to corporate volunteering in Spain
This study aims to analyse the role of corporate volunteerism in the framework of corporate social responsibility of enterprises. After reviewing the active components in the employee volunteering concept, we present the steps taken at the European level in this area, focusing on Spain’s situation. We start with a search and comparison of information on the topic published by the major Spanish listed companies. This first approach verifies that the data are disclosed from various sources and presented heterogeneously. Then, we identify the sector that concentrates a more significant number of employees in volunteer activities. Subsequently, we focus on this sector to explore the type of volunteer activities these companies reveal according to Spanish legislation. The study sheds light on corporate governance practices, especially the disclosure of information about this activity type

Correlated enhancement of Hc2 and Jc in carbon nanotube-doped MgB2
The use of MgB2 in superconducting applications still awaits for the
development of a MgB2-based material where both current-carrying performance
and critical magnetic field are optimized simultaneously. We achieved this by
doping MgB2 with double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWCNT) as a source of carbon in
polycrystalline samples. The optimum nominal DWCNT content for increasing the
critical current density, Jc is in the range 2.5-10%at depending on field and
temperature. Record values of the upper critical field, Hc2(4K) = 41.9 T (with
extrapolated Hc2(0) ~ 44.4 T) are reached in a bulk sample with 10%at DWCNT
content. The measured Hc2 vs T in all samples are successfully described using
a theoretical model for a two-gap superconductor in the dirty limit first
proposed by Gurevich et al.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure
Noether charge formalism for Weyl invariant theories of gravity
Gravitational theories invariant under transverse diffeomorphisms and Weyl transformations have the same classical solutions as the corresponding fully diffeomorphism invariant theories. However, they solve some of the problems related to the cosmological constant and in principle allow local energy non-conservation. In the present work, we obtain the Noether charge formalism for these theories. We first derive expressions for the Noether currents and charges corresponding to transverse diffeomorphisms and Weyl transformations, showing that the latter vanish identically. We then use these results to obtain an expression for a perturbation of a Hamiltonian corresponding to evolution along a transverse diffeomorphism generator. From this expression, we derive the first law of black hole mechanics, identifying the total energy, the total angular momentum, the Wald entropy, and the contributions of the cosmological constant perturbations and energy non-conservation. Lastly, we extend our formalism to derive the first law of causal diamonds
