SRZoo: An integrated repository for super-resolution using deep learning

Deep learning-based image processing algorithms, including image super-resolution methods, have been proposed with significant improvement in performance in recent years. However, their implementations and evaluations are dispersed in terms of various deep learning frameworks and various evaluation criteria. In this paper, we propose an integrated repository for the super-resolution tasks, named SRZoo, to provide state-of-the-art super-resolution models in a single place. Our repository offers not only converted versions of existing pre-trained models, but also documentation and toolkits for converting other models. In addition, SRZoo provides platform-agnostic image reconstruction tools to obtain super-resolved images and evaluate the performance in place. It also brings the opportunity of extension to advanced image-based researches and other image processing models. The software, documentation, and pre-trained models are publicly available on GitHub.Comment: Accepted in ICASSP 2020, code available at https://github.com/idearibosome/srzo

New Market Opportunities and Consumer Heterogeneity in the U.S. Organic Food Market

This paper investigates what factors and characteristics of organic consumers affect annual organic food expenditure by using Nielsen’s consumer panel dataset from 2010 to 2014. To be specific, this paper explores new marketing opportunities by investigating organic consumer heterogeneity in different household income levels by utilizing the multilevel model. Findings in this study will contribute to the previous and existing literature in three-folds. First, we find that the organic consumers are more heterogeneous in the high-level of income groups (approximately above 60,000),aswellasthelow−incomehouseholdsbetween60,000), as well as the low-income households between 35,000 and 45,000.Thisfindingdemonstratesthattheincomelevelsabove45,000. This finding demonstrates that the income levels above 60,000 and around $40,000 have potential market segmentation. Second, we find that that annual organic expenditure is positively associated with consumers who consecutively repurchase organic food products compared to irregular organic consumers, supporting a different level of satisfaction. Third, we find that USDA organic labeling has a positive effect on annual organic expenditure compared to the organic labeling certified by private companies, implying the importance of credibility for the organic labeling

State Estimation Filtering using Recent Finite Measurements and Inputs for Active Suspension System with Temporary Uncertainties

In this paper, the finite memory structure(FMS) filter using most recent finite measured outputs and control inputs is applied for the state estimation filtering of automotive suspension systems to verify intrinsic robustness of FMS filter. Firstly, the single-corner model for the automotive suspension system and its state-space model are described. Secondly, FMS as well as infinite memory structure(IMS) filters are briefly introduced and represented by the summation form. Thirdly, a couple of temporary uncertainties, model uncertainty and unknown input, are discussed. Finally, extensive computer simulations are performed for both nominal system and temporarily uncertain system. It is shown that the FMS filter can be better than the IMS filter for both temporary uncertainties. In addition, the FMS filter can be shown to be comparable to the IMS filter after the effects of a couple of temporary uncertainties have completely disappeared

DETERMINATION OF LINEAR AND NONLINEAR ROLL DAMPING COEFFICIENTS OF A SHIP SECTION USING CFD

The most prevalently used method to obtain the nonlinear roll damping coefficient is the free roll decay test. However, this method can only be conducted at the resonance frequency and thus cannot consider the effect of the frequency. This is a certain limitation as the resonance frequency can be changed at any time by the ship’s loading conditions. Therefore, it is worth investigating the frequency dependency of the nonlinear roll damping coefficients. In this study, a numerical method was proposed to derive the linear and nonlinear roll damping coefficients of ships at different frequencies. Fully nonlinear CFD simulations of forced harmonic roll motion were conducted and the roll damping coefficients were calculated. Then, the damping coefficients were decomposed into the linear and nonlinear components using the linear regression analysis. The linear roll damping coefficients were compared with potential coefficients and showed a good agreement, while the nonlinear roll damping coefficients were compared with the coefficients calculated using a semi-empirical method. The nonlinear roll damping coefficients calculated from the proposed method showed a strong frequency dependency. Finally, possible rationales for the frequency dependence of the nonlinear roll damping coefficient were investigated
