The new Ministry Resource Center (MRC) of Calvin College and Calvin Theological Seminary is a premiere collection of practical resources for all aspects of congregational ministry. To help MRC patrons locate appropriate resources, the College and Seminary s Hekman Library has created a website that combines information from manually created static webpages and bibliographic data imported from the Library s online catalog. The result is one website that gathers together, and provides access to, the entire MRC collection
The Liberation of Groningen: The Diary Account of Theo Polman
The city of Groningen in the Netherlands was liberated by the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division during the final month of the Second World War. While the battle was not significant to the outcome of the war, the combat was nonetheless significant for both the participants, as well as the citizens who lived through four days of fierce street fighting. Using his grandfather’s detailed diary, and with references to the War Diaries of some of the battalions involved, the author describes the experience of one family that huddled in their home through the battle, and their interactions with Canadian soldiers after the fighting stopped
The Christian Reformed Church Periodical Index: A Local Solution to Indexing Periodicals
This article describes the creation of a web-based database that indexes less well-known periodical titles of importance to scholars in the Christian Reformed Church, and generally not covered by other indexing services. The author explains how the data from the index, originally stored in a card catalog, was moved online to a text-based system, and eventually into its present form in a web-based system. Highlighting some of the challenges that were overcome in creating this resource, brief details are provided on how the data is stored and retrieved in the web environment, on how the data are searched and presented to the researcher, and on the methods used to keep the database current

In early 2003, the Hekman Library of Calvin College and Calvin Theological Seminary decided to offer access to all of its e-journals, including titles within aggregators, using brief MARC records in its online catalog.
