Quantum Zeno-like effect and spectra of particles in cascade transition

Shr\"odinger equation for two-step spontaneous cascade transition in a three-level quantum system is solved by means of Markovian approximation for non-Markovian integro-differential evolution equations for amplitudes of states. It is shown that both decay constant and radiation shift of initial level are affected by instability of intermediate level of the cascade. These phenomena are interpreted as the different manifestations of quantum Zeno-like effect. The spectra of particles emitted during the cascade transition are calculated in the general case and, in particular, for an unusual situation when the initial state is lower than the intermediate one. It is shown that the spectra of particles do not have a peak-like shape in the latter case.Comment: 13 pages, no figures, to be published in Physica

The Teaching Of Controversial Issues In Geography

A Geographical Education Magazine article.The cognitive approach appears to reign in most geography classrooms. The emotive and the psychic approaches receive only cursory attention. The result has been a lack of deeper understanding of the issues involved in a topic. This contributes to the partial or biased education of our students and we suspect it also contributes to poor results in the ‘O’ and ‘A’ level examinations. This paper presents points in favor of the emotive approach and describes how controversial issues can be tackled in the ‘O’ and ‘A’ level geography classrooms

The Expensive Commodity of Education in Africa Versus Customer Experience

Moving into the time of the customer, the landscape of education has changed globally, including its model of leading business. The observation through the crystal of market-exchange in Africa shows students as customers and universities as service providers. For the reason that a business cannot exist without its customers, and higher education institutions are concentrating on the best way to win new business through multiple channels, customer experience arises to create value. It is within this context that this paper looks at higher education as an expensive commodity in Africa versus Customer eXperience. It also raises issues for talk and begins to express an assessment inspiration that may add to the idea of customer experience by service providers of Africa, here higher education

TINDAK PIDANA PEMBALAKAN LIAR YANG DILAKUKAN OLEH KORPORASI MENURUT UNDANG-UNDANG NOMOR 18 TAHUN 2013 TENTANG PENCEGAHAN DAN PEMBERANTASAN PERUSAKAN HUTAN

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaturan tindak pidana pembalakan liar yang dilakukan oleh korporasi menurut Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2013 tentang Pencegahan dan Pemberantasan Perusakan Hutan  dan bagaimana sanksi pidana terhadap korporasi yang melakukan pembalakan liar menurut Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2013 tentang Pencegahan dan Pemberantasan Perusakan Hutan. Dengan menggunakan metode peneltian yuridis normatif, disimpulkan: 1. Pengaturan tindak pidana pembalakan liar yang dilakukan oleh korporasi dan/atau pengurusnya menurut Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2013 tentang Pencegahan dan Pemberantasan Perusakan Hutan,  yaitu: meliputi semua kegiatan pemanfaatan hasil hutan kayu secara tidak sah dan dilakukan secara terorganisasi dapat digolongkan sebagai tindak pidana perusakan hutan. Kejahatan seperti pembalakan liar yang apabila dilakukan oleh korporasi dan/atau pengurusnya dapat menimbulkan kerugian negara dan kerusakan tatanan kehidupan sosial budaya dan lingkungan hidup. 2. Sanksi pidana menurut Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2013 tentang Pencegahan dan Pemberantasan Perusakan Hutan terhadap korporasi dan/atau pengurusnya yang telah terbukti melakukan tindak pidana pembalakan liar, baik pidana penjara maupun pidana denda perlu dilakukan secara tegas, karena penghukuman tersebut merupakan bagian dari penegakan hukum pidana yang bertujuan memberikan efek jera bagi korporasi dan/atau pengurusnya. Sanksi pidana penjara terhadap pengurus korporasi tidak melepaskan sanksi pidana denda dan pidana tambahan terhadap korporasi berupa penutupan seluruh atau sebagian perusahaan yang perlu diberlakukan apabila korporasi dan/atau pengurusnya telah terbukti dalam pemeriksaan di persidangan melakukan pembalakan liar yang mengakibatkan terjadinya kerusakan hutan.Kata kunci: Tindak Pidana, Pembalakan Liar, Korporasi, Pencegahan Dan Pemberantasan Perusakan Huta
