Additive manufacturing of rectangular waveguide devices for teaching microwave laboratory
In this paper the outline of using of low-cost additive manufacturing FDM/FFF technology to build waveguide devices is presented. The focus is set in a full design from specifications to final measurements in a microwave teaching laboratory. Final results obtained asses that this experience is an extraordinary opportunity for students to get involved in waveguide technology. In addition, the use of 3D design software enriches the curricula of electronic engineering students.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech
"The Cure of Bytyng" in London, Wellcome Library, MS 411 (ff. 56r-61r)
London, Wellcome Library, MS 411 is a codex in one volume which dates from the late fifteenth century. It houses a collection of practical treatises and tracts in English and Latin, in verse as well as in prose, on different topics including prognostications, nativities, medical astrology, reproduction, toxicology, bloodletting, etc. In this paper, the Middle English anonymous treatise on venomous bites, written in prose and held in folios 56r to 61r, is taken into consideration. The objective is twofold: on the one hand, to examine the contents, transmission and sources of the text and, on the other, to describe it from a physical standpoint. Investigation on those aspects of the treatise contained in Wellcome MS 411 can shed some light on the function and diffusion of the text, and may also prove significant for a better understanding of it.Universidad de Málaga. Digital Editing of Early Modern English Handwritten Texts: Handling Scribal Errors and Corrections
An important philological question is how to edit texts. An edition always entails interpretation of the text and also of the socio-cultural context in which the manuscript was created and used. In new philological theory, and contrary to more traditional approaches, the individual manuscript versions, i.e., the textual witnesses, are regarded as valuable in their own right, as every textual witness tells us something about the culture of manuscripts (Carlquist 2004: 112). This is the approach followed for the digital editing of Early Modern English scientific writing in The Malaga Corpus of Early Modern English Scientific Prose. In this paper, we discuss the challenges that producing such type of edition pose. We will particularly focus on the issue of scribal errors and corrections and how the editor can treat and capture them in the edition. The texts included in the above-mentioned corpus will be analyzed for the purpose. The corpus includes manuscripts from the Hunterian Collection (Glasgow University Library), the Wellcome Collection (London Wellcome Library) and the Rylands Collection (University of Manchester Library). With regard to text types, these manuscripts hold specialized texts, surgical and anatomical treatises, as well as recipe collections and materia medica.

Supply chain management and the Romanian transition
The purpose of this paper is to perform a systemic analysis of the Supply Chain Management, and to show what are the essential aspects of such a complex process. Actually, it is an integral perspective of intra- and interorganizational management activities aiming at the optimization of all important tangible and intangible fluxes and forces acting in a multifield framework. In the same time, we are looking at the Romanian transition and show how such a new perspective can be applied to the business environment. The analysis is challenging, since Romania is in a deep change process from a centrally planned economy toward a free market economy.management, supply chain management, system analysis, transition economy.
A closed-form solution to predict short-range surface plasmons in thin films and its application to hole arrays
A theoretical study of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) in ultrathin lossy
metal films is presented. The dispersion relation of such films is well known
and can be solved numerically to obtain a combination of long-range (LR-) and
short-range (SR-) eigenmodes. In this contribution, a simple solution for the
SR-SPPs is derived. An approximation for the LR- eigenmodes can be found
elsewhere. To validate the approximation, a two dimensional (2D) periodic array
of small holes is studied subsequently. The spectral response of the array is
obtained by full-wave simulations and the results compared with those
calculated analytically, showing an excellent agreement for small holes
