A Practical Perspective on Human Capital Post Merger Integration in Central and Eastern Europe

Driven by a philosophy of shareholder value, mergers and acquisitions form a new economic, social and cultural environment. It is only by a profound understanding of the success factors in mergers and acquisitions that they are able to improve transaction management and create new economic values. In this paper we focus on the perception of employees on a merger or acquisition, the impact it has on the new organization and what should be further done by the management team in order to ensure that critical employees are kept within the organization. We present a survey among 146 companies in 6 countries from Central and Eastern Europe that have experienced mergers or acquisitions in the last 5 years, in which we exhibit a comprehensive view of employees’ satisfaction on different hierarchical and demographic levels on the success of integration. The cultural, social and economic evolution in Romania during 2004-2007

The scope of this article is to present how the Romania’s counties evolved, relying on certain main indicators meant to find the level of cultural, social and economic development for the period 2004-2007. As three aspects considered as “hidden” factors are to be analyzed by several descriptor variables conducting to a large initial space, we shall proceed to compressing of information by using the technique of dimensionality reduction followed by a differentiation among the Romanian territorial-administrative units on grounds of the new found variables. Financial Investment Management: Testing the Market Model on the Romanian Capital Market during the Post Financial Crisis

This article presents an analysis of the decision of investing in the capital market in Romania during 2009-2010, in the context of overcoming the global financial crisis. In the first part of the paper, we have made a brief presentation of the simplified model of market analysis introduced in the specialized literature by William Sharpe, the respective model representing the starting point in our study. The purpose of the present study is to emphasize how the evolutions of the financial securities rates listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange could be explained based on the evolution of BET Romanian capital market index. Although the study over this phenomenon has begun in the middle of the last century, every day new studies appear that are either coming in addition to the already existing ones or are bringing a new approach regarding the financial theory. The novelty of the present study conducted by us resides in the highlighting of the evolutions of the financial securities rates during July 2009 – December 2010 periods. The second part of the paper presents the results of a study conducted on the Romanian capital market, emphasizing the correlations between the most important securities on the Romanian capital market, as parts of BET index and market index. The aim is to check whether during this period the evolution of the financial securities’ return can be explained more or less by the return of the capital market.financial market model, return of financial securities, security-market correlation.

Incentives for Developing Resilient Agritourism Entrepreneurship in Rural Communities in Romania in a European Context

In a global setting where the requirements for development equally address the economic viability but also social and environmental sustainability, the healthy and efficient growth of rural communities poses substantial challenges. Our paper focuses on specific conditions and constraints that influence the progress of agritourism business initiatives as viable entrepreneurial solutions for self-sustainable rural communities in Romania. To assess the impact of economic, social and tourism-related factors on agritourism entrepreneurship for Romanian counties during 2010–2015 periods, we conducted several Ordinary Least Square regression models. The results emphasize that economic indicators like regional GDP and kilometers of national roads have a positive influence on the number of agritourism business units; also, a positive impact on agritourism entrepreneurship was identified for tourism-related factors like: number of employees and corresponding salaries in tourism, total tourists, share of tourism firms and their turnover in total firms and turnover of the region, as well as preference of tourists for agritourism. The conclusions highlight the direct link between resilient agritourism entrepreneurship and sustainable development of the region and open further research directions
