    Das Hauptanliegen von Open Educational Resources (OER) ist es, digitale Lehr- und Lernmaterialien frei zugĂ€nglich und ohne EinschrĂ€nkungen nutzbar zu machen, woraus sich Potenziale fĂŒr die digitale Bildungslandschaft ergeben. Voraussetzung hierfĂŒr sind neben der Auffindbarkeit und VerfĂŒgbarkeit von geeigneten Materialien, Möglichkeiten Inhalte kollaborativ zu erstehen und auszutauschen. Dieser Beitrag beschĂ€ftigt sich ausgehend von dem Nutzungsverhalten von Hochschuhehrenden mit der Frage, welche Erwartungen und Anforderungen diese Zielgruppe an technische OERInfrastrukturen hat und welche Bedarfe zur UnterstĂŒtzung bei der Anwendung von OER bestehen.     Practices of Higher Education Teachers in Dealing with Open Educational Resources: Presentation and Promotion of Application Types

    Open Educational Resources (OER) ermöglichen, digitale Lehr- und Lernmaterialien frei verfĂŒgbar und ohne EinschrĂ€nkungen nutzbar zu machen. Daher haben OER grosses Potenzial, Lehre kollaborativ zu gestalten und zu entwickeln. Um die Nutzung von OER zu fördern und Hochschulehrende im Umgang mit OER unterstĂŒtzen, ist es wichtig, auf deren BedĂŒrfnisse und Anforderungen einzugehen. DafĂŒr sind detaillierte Einblicke in Praktiken und Verhalten der Lehrenden bei der Verwendung und Überarbeitung von Materialien notwendig. In diesem Beitrag werden Ergebnisse eines Forschungsprojekts vorgestellt, welches Nutzungsverhalten von OER durch Hochschullehrende identifiziert. Methodisch wurde eine Interviewstudie mit Hochschullehrenden ĂŒber ihre praktischen Erfahrungen bei der Arbeit mit OER durchgefĂŒhrt. Auf dieser Basis wurden Anwendungstypen abgeleitet, die sich auf die OER-AktivitĂ€ten bei der Erstellung, Nutzung, Bearbeitung und Veröffentlichung von Materialien beziehen. Hieraus konnten Optionen bei der Gestaltung von OER-Infrastrukturen und UnterstĂŒtzungsmöglichkeiten fĂŒr deren Nutzung ermittelt werden.Open Educational Resources (OER) enable digital teaching and learning materials to be made freely available and usable without restrictions. Therefore, OER have great potential that teaching can be designed and developed collaboratively. In order to increase the use of OER and support higher education teachers in their use of OER, it is important to address their needs and requirements. For this, detailed insights into practices and behaviours of teachers in the use and revision of materials are necessary. This paper presents the results of a research project that identifies the usage behaviour of OER by university teachers. For this purpose, an interview study with higher education teachers about their practical experiences in working with OER was conducted. On this basis, application types were derived that relate to OER activities in the creation, use, editing and publication of materials.     Malformations of the sacculus and the semicircular canals in spider morph pythons

    Spider morph ball pythons are a frequently-bred designer morph with striking alterations of the skin color pattern. We created high-resolution ÎŒCT-image series through the otic region of the skulls, used 3D-reconstruction software for rendering anatomical models, and compared the anatomy of the semicircular ducts, sacculus and ampullae of wildtype Python regius (ball python) with spider morph snakes. All spider morph snakes showed the wobble condition (i.e., twisting movements of the head, impaired locomotion, difficulty striking or constricting prey items). We describe the inner ear structures in wildtype and spider morph snakes and report a deviant morphology of semicircular canals, ampullae and sacculus in the latter. We also report about associated differences in the desmal skull bones of spider morph snakes, which were characterized by wider semicircular canals, ampullae widened and difficult to discern in ÎŒCT, a deformed crus communis, and a small sacculus with a highly deviant X-ray morphology as compared to wildtype individuals. We observed considerable intra- and interindividual variability of these features. This deviant morphology in spider morph snakes could easily be associated with an impairment of sense of equilibrium and the observed neurological wobble condition. Limitations in sample size prevent statistical analyses, but the anatomical evidence is strong enough to support an association between the wobble condition and a malformation of the inner ear structures. A link between artificially selected alterations in pattern and specific color design with neural-crest associated developmental malformations of the statoacoustic organ as known from other vertebrates is discussed

    DELIKAT – Fachdialoge Deliberative Demokratie: Analyse Partizipativer Verfahren fĂŒr den Transformationsprozess

    Das Projekt erfasst und bewertet die Potenziale existierender Partizipationsformate fĂŒr die Transformation des politischen Systems zu einer kooperativen und deliberativen Demokratie. Angestrebt wird kein Alternativentwurf zu einer reprĂ€sentativen Demokratie, sondern Empfehlungen fĂŒr eine ErgĂ€nzung dieser Regierungsform durch kooperative und deliberative Elemente, die der gesellschaftlichen Forderung nach einem „Mehr an Beteiligung“ Rechnung tragen. Den Hintergrund fĂŒr die theoretische Reflexion bildet die normative Annahme, dass die Öffentlichkeit nicht nur an Wahlprozessen beteiligt sein soll, sondern auch an der Entscheidungsvorbereitung und der AbwĂ€gung von kollektiv verbindlichen Handlungsoptionen, von deren Konsequenzen sie in ihrem Lebensumfeld betroffen sein werden. Anhand der Ergebnisse des Projektes ergeben sich AnknĂŒpfungspunkte fĂŒr zukĂŒnftige Vorhaben auf zwei Ebenen. Die Partizipationsmatrix bietet auf der Verfahrensebene gute Möglichkeiten zur Kombination und Rekombination einzelner Verfahren wie auch Verfahrensbestandteile. Die Politikempfehlungen zeigen weitergehend konkrete Wege fĂŒr die Umsetzung einer neuen Partizipationskultur durch Politik und Verwaltung im Sinne eines neuen Mainstreamings von Partizipation. Diese sprechen sich im Kern dafĂŒr aus, mehr Beteiligung zu wagen, ja, eine „Kultur der Beteiligung“ zu etablieren. Diese ist jedoch an Voraussetzungen gebunden, die ebenso aufgefĂŒhrt werden. Der institutionelle Unterbau einer solchen Beteiligungskultur wird letztlich in einem Mainstreaming von Partizipation auf allen Ebenen von Politik und Verwaltung lokalisiert.The project detects and evaluates the potential of existing participation formats to transform the political system into a cooperative and deliberative democracy. The aim is to develop recommendations for the integration of cooperative and deliberative elements into representative democracy, rather than to develop an alternative model. These new elements take societal demands for increased involvement into account. The normative assumption that the public should not only be involved in elections but also in the preparation of collectively binding decisions and in the assignment of trade-offs between various political options serves as the basis for the theoretical reflection. The results of this project have significant implications for future projects on two levels. On the procedural level, the participation matrix offers opportunities for combining and recombining individual procedures and procedural elements. On the substantive level, the political recommendations offer structural advise on how to realise a new participation culture through politics and administration. This can also be described as a “mainstreaming” of participation. The recommendations promote attempts at increased participation and the establishment of a “culture of participation”. This, however, is bound to certain conditions, which are also listed and explained. Ultimately, the institutional foundation of such a participation culture is localised in a serious attempt to implement mainstreaming of participation on all levels of politics and administration

    Digital support of narrative writing skills for students with special educational needs. A systematic review

    Die FĂ€higkeit, Gedanken schriftlich festzuhalten, ist fĂŒr gesellschaftliche Teilhabe unabdingbar. Viele SchĂŒlerinnen und SchĂŒler erwerben diese Kompetenz jedoch nicht in ausreichendem Maße und benötigen deswegen eine zusĂ€tzliche spezifische Förderung. Vor dem Hintergrund einer zunehmenden Bedeutung der Digitalisierung im Bildungsbereich stellt sich die Frage, welche wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse bezĂŒglich digitaler Schreibinterventionen bei SchĂŒlerinnen und SchĂŒlern mit unterschiedlichen diagnostizierten UnterstĂŒtzungsbedarfen existieren. Das vorliegende systematische Literatur-Review gibt einen Überblick ĂŒber den gegenwĂ€rtigen internationalen Forschungsstand. Insgesamt wurden 40 Zeitschriftenartikel und 11 Dissertationen in die Beurteilung einbezogen. Es zeigt sich, dass digitale Förderung unabhĂ€ngig vom Förderbedarf, vom Alter und von der Schulform dazu beitragen kann, die narrative Schreibkompetenz zu verbessern. Eine Zuordnung der genutzten digitalen Elemente anhand des SAMR-Modells (Puentedura, 2006) gibt einen Hinweis darauf, dass diese hauptsĂ€chlich die analogen Elemente ersetzen und erweitern und weniger der Umgestaltung der Aufgaben zuzuordnen sind. Trotz der Vielzahl an einschlĂ€gigen empirischen Arbeiten ist die Datenbasis im Hinblick auf hochwertige Studien allerdings noch zu gering, um verlĂ€ssliche und allgemeingĂŒltige Aussagen ĂŒber die Wirkungen treffen zu können. (DIPF/Orig.)The ability to capture thoughts in a written form is essential for social participation. However, many students develop this skill insufficiently and therefore require additional specific support. Digitalization in education is gaining in importance. The question therefore arises which scientific findings exist regarding digital writing interventions for students with different diagnosed educational needs. This systematic literature review provides an overview of the current state of international research. A total of 40 journal articles and 11 dissertations were included in the review. It is found that digital support is able to improve narrative writing skills regardless of diagnosed educational need, age, and school type. A categorization of the digital elements used based on the SAMR model (Puentedura, 2006) indicates that they mainly substitute and augment the analog elements and are less associated with modification and redefinition. However, despite the large amount of relevant empirical works, the data base in terms of high-quality studies is still too small to draw reliable and generalizable conclusions about the effects.     Microbial fuel cells: From fundamentals to applications. A review

    © 2017 The Author(s) In the past 10–15 years, the microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology has captured the attention of the scientific community for the possibility of transforming organic waste directly into electricity through microbially catalyzed anodic, and microbial/enzymatic/abiotic cathodic electrochemical reactions. In this review, several aspects of the technology are considered. Firstly, a brief history of abiotic to biological fuel cells and subsequently, microbial fuel cells is presented. Secondly, the development of the concept of microbial fuel cell into a wider range of derivative technologies, called bioelectrochemical systems, is described introducing briefly microbial electrolysis cells, microbial desalination cells and microbial electrosynthesis cells. The focus is then shifted to electroactive biofilms and electron transfer mechanisms involved with solid electrodes. Carbonaceous and metallic anode materials are then introduced, followed by an explanation of the electro catalysis of the oxygen reduction reaction and its behavior in neutral media, from recent studies. Cathode catalysts based on carbonaceous, platinum-group metal and platinum-group-metal-free materials are presented, along with membrane materials with a view to future directions.     Microbe-host interplay in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis

    Despite recent advances in understanding microbial diversity in skin homeostasis, the relevance of microbial dysbiosis in inflammatory disease is poorly understood. Here we perform a comparative analysis of skin microbial communities coupled to global patterns of cutaneous gene expression in patients with atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. The skin microbiota is analysed by 16S amplicon or whole genome sequencing and the skin transcriptome by microarrays, followed by integration of the data layers. We find that atopic dermatitis and psoriasis can be classified by distinct microbes, which differ from healthy volunteers microbiome composition. Atopic dermatitis is dominated by a single microbe (Staphylococcus aureus), and associated with a disease relevant host transcriptomic signature enriched for skin barrier function, tryptophan metabolism and immune activation. In contrast, psoriasis is characterized by co-occurring communities of microbes with weak associations with disease related gene expression. Our work provides a basis for biomarker discovery and targeted therapies in skin dysbiosis.Peer reviewe
