    Network Genesis Of Technological Convergence

    Get PDF
Under protracted structural crisis conditions the necessity of development of conceptual framework, helping to achieve positive changes of social-economical system of Russian economy, becomes crucial for critical re-evaluation and new scientific decision making. This article describes the issue of transition to prospective technological scheme through development of converging technologies. The meaning of convergent technologies is defined, including their development principles. As pathbreaking scientific-and-technological progress stage a possibility of applying NBIC-convergence is considered, which has been transformed into NBICS-convergence in the context of Russian economical reality, completed with Humanities and Social studies. As the most adapted to converging technologies the author emphasizes network structures as business activity mechanism. Various network structures classifications are considered; network structures classification into educational, scientific and innovation, infrastructural and integration structures has been analysed most closely. Integration network structures are supposed to be the most important nowadays, particularly integration network structures as the most effective and adapted to converging technologies. Converging technologies diffusion in application context can be realized using "Triple Helix" model. Tomsk city is considered to be as a good illustrative example of successful implementation of the "Triple Helix" concept with the main leading universities actively cooperating with the government and real economy business organisations. Necessity for governmental influence in innovative product markets grouping, infrastructure management, improvement of cooperation among research-and-technology process participants, legal system development, as well as creating in whole positive environment for innovative activities is especially emphasized

The article reveals the issue of the concept of personal branding in the context of information culture, social nets and social media. The relevance of the article is reasoned by the growing interest towardspersonal branding and people’s tendency to turn to commodity their personality, knowledge and experience in digital world. The general definitions of the process of commodification and personal branding aregiven. The due consideration is given to the manifestation of personal branding on the platform of Instagram. The author emphasizes the role of personal branding under the modern market conditions, created with the help of smart and digital technologies in the context of globalized world

Host taxon-derived Sarcoptes mite in European wild animals revealed by microsatellite markers

    Get PDF
Ten markers specific to Sarcoptes mites were used in applying microsatellite genotyping to individual Sarcoptes mites collected in three European countries from 15 wild mammal populations belonging to 10 host species. The results showed that geographical separation had real biological significance for the definition of mite sub-populations, and that the degree of genetic exchange occurring between mites from different localities was apparently related to the geographical distance between locations. Wild host-derived mite populations were found to be clustered into three main groups: herbivore-, carnivore- and omnivore-derived Sarcoptes populations, with the omnivore-derived group located halfway between the herbivore- and carnivore-derived Sarcoptes populations. The separation between these three mite groups was better supported than the geographical separations; nevertheless, a kind of sub-clustering was detected within each of these three groups that separates mite populations into their geographical localities (countries). The lack of gene flow between Sarcoptes populations may have improved parasitic adaptations and led to what we refer to as a host-taxon-derived (carnivore host-, herbivore host- and omnivore host-derived) Sarcoptes mite found on European wild animals. Our results demonstrate that Sarcoptes is not a single panmictic population, even within each geographical location. This finding will have important ramifications for the study of the genetic structure of populations, life cycles, diagnosis and the monitoring protocols of the ubiquitous Sarcoptes mite, and could thus contribute to a better understanding of its associated epidemiology, which is of pivotal interest for wildlife biological conservation. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Genome-wide association study identifies six new loci influencing pulse pressure and mean arterial pressure.

Numerous genetic loci have been associated with systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in Europeans. We now report genome-wide association studies of pulse pressure (PP) and mean arterial pressure (MAP). In discovery (N = 74,064) and follow-up studies (N = 48,607), we identified at genome-wide significance (P = 2.7 × 10(-8) to P = 2.3 × 10(-13)) four new PP loci (at 4q12 near CHIC2, 7q22.3 near PIK3CG, 8q24.12 in NOV and 11q24.3 near ADAMTS8), two new MAP loci (3p21.31 in MAP4 and 10q25.3 near ADRB1) and one locus associated with both of these traits (2q24.3 near FIGN) that has also recently been associated with SBP in east Asians. For three of the new PP loci, the estimated effect for SBP was opposite of that for DBP, in contrast to the majority of common SBP- and DBP-associated variants, which show concordant effects on both traits. These findings suggest new genetic pathways underlying blood pressure variation, some of which may differentially influence SBP and DBP

Genetic variants in novel pathways influence blood pressure and cardiovascular disease risk.

Blood pressure is a heritable trait influenced by several biological pathways and responsive to environmental stimuli. Over one billion people worldwide have hypertension (≥140 mm Hg systolic blood pressure or  ≥90 mm Hg diastolic blood pressure). Even small increments in blood pressure are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events. This genome-wide association study of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, which used a multi-stage design in 200,000 individuals of European descent, identified sixteen novel loci: six of these loci contain genes previously known or suspected to regulate blood pressure (GUCY1A3-GUCY1B3, NPR3-C5orf23, ADM, FURIN-FES, GOSR2, GNAS-EDN3); the other ten provide new clues to blood pressure physiology. A genetic risk score based on 29 genome-wide significant variants was associated with hypertension, left ventricular wall thickness, stroke and coronary artery disease, but not kidney disease or kidney function. We also observed associations with blood pressure in East Asian, South Asian and African ancestry individuals. Our findings provide new insights into the genetics and biology of blood pressure, and suggest potential novel therapeutic pathways for cardiovascular disease prevention
