Feedback x4: Leading Library Staff through Organizational Review
Some say that the only constant in libraries is change but it is often a challenge for our employees. A small committee of public service managers were tasked to explore public service operations and organizational structure through examining the ways in which units communicated, cross trained, and staffed various services. The review process and discussions were expected to include all personnel from access services, research and instruction, resource sharing, stacks, security, and facilities.
Four different ways of involving employees through a comprehensive review process, including SWOTT analysis, roundtable discussions, card sorting, and organizational structure review
Managing Occupancy through Tech Solutions during COVID-19 at Clemson University
This project briefing detailed three occupancy-management technologies, and their accompanying policies and procedures, that were deployed by Clemson Libraries to address the challenges of operating a physical library during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Clemson’s main library, Cooper Library, tracked occupancy through a combination of novel and existing solutions: 1) a home-grown access management system that uses institutional IDs, 2) a real-time entry/exit automatic counter, 3) seat and appointment booking through Springshare. The three-pronged approach allowed for immediate control and oversight, while providing safe and equitable access to the Clemson University community. Each project required unique policy and procedure planning. Of particular note is the collaboration with university central IT to create and customize the access management system, which was also deployed in campus dining halls, bookstore, fitness centers, and showcased on the university’s mobile app.
The project enhanced institutional interdisciplinary partnerships and solidified a long-term collaborative network. Additionally, Clemson’s customization of Springshare’s seat booking system provided a unique vantage point into the decision-making process and the adoption of multiple systems for discrete needs, though it required extensive research and customization. The project briefing also covered the implications that the decisions we made could affect future operations of our organization
From Bones to Drones: The Challenge of Checking Out Unicorns
Modern academic library shelves are no longer limited to books and media—collections today include “unicorns,” which we define as unique items such as DSLR cameras, VR headsets, puppets, modeling kits—even skeletons and drones. Supporting students’ ever-changing curricular and research needs requires constant creativity, problem solving, and technology expertise.
Partnerships across campus ensure close attention to the nuances of university curriculum. For Access Services, curating robust physical reserve collections involves purchasing considerations, special shelving and packaging, customized loan periods, reservation systems, and careful maintenance of high-use, delicate items
tsükliin-CDK kompleksi. Nende ülesandeks on kontrollida DNA replikatsiooni ja muude
rakutsükli edukaks kulgemiseks vajalike sündmuste õigeaegset ja tõrgeteta toimumist. Kui üks
osa kompleksist või kogu kompleks üleekspresseerub, võib see viia rakkude kontrollimatu
jagunemiseni ning lõpuks vähkkasvaja tekkeni. Käesoleva bakalaureusetöö eesmärgiks on anda
aktiivsete kompleksidena

Keeping Patrons Safe: Using Benchmarking to Enhance Library Security
Presented at the 2017 Access Services Conference, Georgia Tech Global Learning Center and the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, November 15-17, 2017, Atlanta, Georgia.Access Services Conference Track : SecurityTeri Alexander, Renna Redd, and Suzanne Schilf are with Clemson University Libraries. This presentation will provide an overview of what the Clemson University Libraries learned about library security through benchmarking with peers and include recommendations to enhance and strengthen security efforts through staffing, technology, communication, and training. Attendees will participate through interactive polls about common security concerns and practices
