    Model comparison of the transverse momentum spectra of charged hadrons produced in PbPbPbPb collision at sNN=5.02\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.02 TeV

    Transverse Momentum, pTp_T, spectra is of prime importance in order to extract crucial information about the evolution dynamics of the system of particles produced in the collider experiments. In this work, the transverse momentum spectra of charged hadrons produced in PbPbPbPb collision at 5.025.02 TeV has been analyzed using different distribution functions in order to gain strong insight into the information that can be extracted from the spectra. We have also discussed the applicability of Pearson distribution on the spectra of charged hadron at 5.025.02 TeV

    Analysing the Transverse momentum spectra at large pTp_T using Pearson statistical framework

    Thermodynamical description of the system created during high energy collision requires a proper thermodynamical framework to study the distribution of particles. In this work, we have attempted to explain the transverse momentum spectra of charged hadrons formed in pppp collision at different energies using the Pearson statistical framework. This formalism has been proved to nicely explain the spectra of particles produced in soft processes as well hard scattering processes in a consistent manner. For this analysis, we have used the highest available range of pTp_T published by experiments to verify the applicability of Pearson statistical framework at large pTp_T

    A generalized thermodynamical approach to transverse momentum spectra in high energy collision

    Analysis of transverse momentum distributions is a useful tool to understand the dynamics of relativistic particles produced in high energy collision. Finding an accurate distribution function to approximate the spectra is a vastly developing area of research in particle physics. In this work, we have provided a detailed theoretical description of the application of the Pearson statistical framework in high energy physics proposed for the first time in Ref [6]. Here, the transverse momentum spectra of pions measured by experiments at RHIC and LHC are also investigated in the framework of relativistic statistical thermodynamics using Pearson distribution

    "The fruits of independence": Satyajit Ray, Indian nationhood and the spectre of empire

    Challenging the longstanding consensus that Satyajit Ray's work is largely free of ideological concerns and notable only for its humanistic richness, this article shows with reference to representations of British colonialism and Indian nationhood that Ray's films and stories are marked deeply and consistently by a distinctively Bengali variety of liberalism. Drawn from an ongoing biographical project, it commences with an overview of the nationalist milieu in which Ray grew up and emphasizes the preoccupation with colonialism and nationalism that marked his earliest unfilmed scripts. It then shows with case studies of Kanchanjangha (1962), Charulata (1964), First Class Kamra (First-Class Compartment, 1981), Pratidwandi (The Adversary, 1970), Shatranj ke Khilari (The Chess Players, 1977), Agantuk (The Stranger, 1991) and Robertsoner Ruby (Robertson's Ruby, 1992) how Ray's mature work continued to combine a strongly anti-colonial viewpoint with a shifting perspective on Indian nationhood and an unequivocal commitment to cultural cosmopolitanism. Analysing how Ray articulated his ideological positions through the quintessentially liberal device of complexly staged debates that were apparently free, but in fact closed by the scenarist/director on ideologically specific notes, this article concludes that Ray's reputation as an all-forgiving, ‘everybody-has-his-reasons’ humanist is based on simplistic or even tendentious readings of his work

    Objective: The current study was projected to prepare a losartan potassium gastroretentive drug delivery system (GRDDS) of floating tablets was planned to enhance the gastric residence time, thus prolong the drug release.Methods: Effervescent floating matrix tablets of losartan potassium were prepared by direct compression technique using polymers like HPMC k4m, guar gum, and gum karaya, with lubricants magnesium stearate and talc. In the present study, sodium bicarbonate was incorporated as a gas generating agent. Total nine formulations were designed and evaluated for pre-compression parameters known as the angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, Hausner's ratio, compressibility index, and post-compression parameters are uniformity of weight, hardness, and drug content percentage, variability, in vitro buoyancy, dissolution studies, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).Results: An in vitro dissolution study was carried out by using buffer pH 1.2. From in vitro dissolution studies, it has been found that an increase in polymer concentration diminishes the drug release profile. The in vitro drug release percentage from F4-F9 formulations ranged from 60.28%-98.66% at the closing of 12 h and buoyancy found over 12 h.Conclusion: The in vitro drug release from F1-F3 and F7-F9 followed zero-order, F4 followed Higuchi order, F5 and F6 followed Hixon-Crowell release kinetics. The drug release mechanism was set up to be F1-F8 non-Fickian (anomalous behavior) and F9 having Fickian diffusion type

    A DNA nanomachine that maps spatial and temporal pH changes inside living cells

    DNA nanomachines are synthetic assemblies that switch between defined molecular conformations upon stimulation by external triggers. Previously, the performance of DNA devices has been limited to in vitro applications. Here we report the construction of a DNA nanomachine called the I-switch, which is triggered by protons and functions as a pH sensor based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) inside living cells. It is an efficient reporter of pH from pH 5.5 to 6.8, with a high dynamic range between pH 5.8 and 7. To demonstrate its ability to function inside living cells we use the I-switch to map spatial and temporal pH changes associated with endosome maturation. The performance of our DNA nanodevices inside living systems illustrates the potential of DNA scaffolds responsive to more complex triggers in sensing, diagnostics and targeted therapies in living systems

    An analysis of seismic data of the Andaman-Nicobar Island region that lies between 4°-16°N and 90°-98°E has been made for the 1900 – 1982 period. A seismicity map has been prepared for the aforesaid period. The major features of the seismicity of the region are well seen from this map. It shows a well-defined pattern almost parallel to the structural trend of the basin. The b values as determined from the earthquake frequency-magnitude relationship of Gutenberg and Richter are found to be in good agreement with the result obtained in northeast India. The depth-distance cross-sections, measured eastwards from 92°E at the latitudes 7°N, 9°N, 11°N and 13°N, have been made to understand the foci distribution and the nature of seismic zones and their geometry beneath the Island arc system.     Differential Regulation of Two Arms of mTORC1 Pathway Fine-Tunes Global Protein Synthesis in Resting B Lymphocytes

    Protein synthesis is tightly regulated by both gene-specific and global mechanisms to match the metabolic and proliferative demands of the cell. While the regulation of global protein synthesis in response to mitogen or stress signals is relatively well understood in multiple experimental systems, how different cell types fine-tune their basal protein synthesis rate is not known. In a previous study, we showed that resting B and T lymphocytes exhibit dramatic differences in their metabolic profile, with implications for their post-activation function. Here, we show that resting B cells, despite being quiescent, exhibit increased protein synthesis in vivo as well as ex vivo. The increased protein synthesis in B cells is driven by mTORC1, which exhibits an intermediate level of activation in these cells when compared with resting T cells and activated B cells. A comparative analysis of the transcriptome and translatome of these cells indicates that the genes encoding the MHC Class II molecules and their chaperone CD74 are highly translated in B cells. These data suggest that the translatome of B cells shows enrichment for genes associated with antigen processing and presentation. Even though the B cells exhibit higher mTORC1 levels, they prevent the translational activation of TOP mRNAs, which are mostly constituted by ribosomal proteins and other translation factors, by upregulating 4EBP1 levels. This mechanism may keep the protein synthesis machinery under check while enabling higher levels of translation in B cells
