Development of Eddy Current Test Procedure for Non-destructive Detection of Fatigue Cracks and Corrosion in Rivets of Air-intake Structures

    Get PDF
Non-destructive detection of defects in countersunk of rivets in multi-layer air-intake structures is essential for ensuring structural integrity and flight safety. This paper presents an eddy current test procedure developed for reliable detection of simulated fatigue cracks and corrosion products in rivets of air-intake structures. This procedure is capable of reliably detecting 0.25 mm deep defects in 4 mm dia rivets and 0.75 mm deep defects in 5 mm dia rivets. Further, it is not influenced by thickness of the multilayers.Defence Science Journal, 2009, 59(2), pp.106-112, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.59.149

Participation of rural workers in the mahatma gandhi national rural employment guarantee act in India

Responsibility of Government of India to provide funds through an easy and convenient mechanism, In the present funding pattern GOI provides funds to the states to meet full cost of wages and upto 75% of the material cost of work including wages to skilled and semiskilled workers. (subject to material - wage ratio not exceeding 40:60); release of funds is made not to the state but directly to each district. This system involves need for detailed calculations and scrutiny of figures of expenditure on wages, material component and staff. It also entails heavy workload in having to keep district - wise account. This cumbersome procedure compels district officers to make frequent visits to Delhi to chase their proposals for release of funds. The whole process can be greatly simplified by having a new funding pattern in which central government meets full cost of employment wages and in addition funds equal to 50% of wages are given towards all other costs (including material component, staff etc). This simple pattern of funding would dispense the need for getting from states details of expenditure on material, staff etc. or having to calculate the wage-material ratio in REGS works, Also, the release of funds should be to the state and not directly to the district; on-account automatic release of funds to the states will be based on the Utilization Certificate of earlier released funds given by the finance department of the state. GOI will then be concerned with maintaining only state-wise accounts and not nearly 600 accounts for the districts

Dual-frequency Eddy Current Non-destructive Detection of Fatigue Cracks in Compressor Discs of Aero Engines

Eddy current non-destructive testing is used to inspect the critical aircraft components. The shortcomings of the inspection method identified, based on a few accidents, necessitatethe development of high sensitive and reliable testing procedures for inspecting the critical safety related aircraft components. This paper discusses a dual-frequency eddy current testingprocedure developed for inspection of compressor discs of aero engines for detecting fatigue cracks with high sensitivity and reliability. This procedure is capable of detecting fatigue crackssmaller than 2 mm in comparison to 4 mm cracks that can be detected with the currently practiced eddy current testing procedure

Hubungan Kekerabatan Fenetik Beberapa Varietas Pisang Lokal Kalimantan Selatan

State Level Performance of MGNREGA in India: A Comparative Study

    Get PDF
In this comparative study, we have attempted to analyze the state-wise performance of the MGNREGA and its impact on various streams of agriculture and rural agricultural wages.  To start with, funding of the scheme has been very balancing between the state and center.  It ranges around 80:20 of share to the implementation of scheme between the Center and the States.  In terms of employability, states that around 13,332 crore person days are created and 7.08 lakh assets are built, out of 25.98 lakh taken up under the programme. Of the total person days created, 51.02 percent are the person days by the women labourers.  When it comes to coverage of population, the states that claim to have covered more than 50 percent of the households are Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, with both of them having poverty rates that are much higher than the national average; followed by Bihar and Jharkhand, with over 30 percent coverage but very high levels of poverty.  Besides, at the total expenditures suggests that Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan have distributed Rs.10-17 billion as wage payments followed by Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Bihar, with the utilized amounts ranging between Rs.5 and 10 billion each.  Another important thing to consider about the scheme is about the impact on farm mechanization of agriculture.  Ultimately, it is worth mentioning here that the MGNREGS has benefited the agricultural labourers not only directly, but also indirectly as the scheme pressured the Minimum Agricultural Wage Rate (MAWR) to be increased
