HITA: An Architecture for System-level Testing of Healthcare IoT Applications

System-level testing of healthcare Internet of Things (IoT_ applications requires creating a test infrastructure with integrated medical devices and third-party applications. A significant challenge in creating such test infrastructure is that healthcare IoT applications evolve continuously with the addition of new medical devices from different vendors and new services offered by different third-party organizations following different architectures. Moreover, creating test infrastructure with a large number of different types of medical devices is time-consuming, financially expensive, and practically infeasible. Oslo City healthcare department faced these challenges while working with various healthcare IoT applications. This paper presents a real-world software architecture (HITA) to create a test infrastructure for healthcare IoT applications. We discuss the quality requirements achieved by HITA and the status of work products developing as a part of HITA. We also present our experiences and lessons learned from the architectural work related to HITA.Comment: To appear in the Proceedings of the 17th European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA 2023

Testing Real-World Healthcare IoT Application: Experiences and Lessons Learned

Healthcare Internet of Things (IoT) applications require rigorous testing to ensure their dependability. Such applications are typically integrated with various third-party healthcare applications and medical devices through REST APIs. This integrated network of healthcare IoT applications leads to REST APIs with complicated and interdependent structures, thus creating a major challenge for automated system-level testing. We report an industrial evaluation of a state-of-the-art REST APIs testing approach (RESTest) on a real-world healthcare IoT application. We analyze the effectiveness of RESTest's testing strategies regarding REST APIs failures, faults in the application, and REST API coverage, by experimenting with six REST APIs of 41 API endpoints of the healthcare IoT application. Results show that several failures are discovered in different REST APIs with ~56% coverage using RESTest. Moreover, nine potential faults are identified. Using the evidence collected from the experiments, we provide our experiences and lessons learned.Comment: To appear in the Proceedings of the 31st ACM Joint European Software Engineering Conference and Symposium on the Foundations of Software Engineering (ESEC/FSE 2023

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of different packaging materials and ethylene absorbent on biochemical composition, antioxidant and enzyme activity of apricot cv. Habi during ambient storage. Perforated (0.25%) polyethylene films of low, medium and high densities and wrapping paper were used along with KMnO4 dipped sponge cubes. Biochemical characteristics (pH, ascorbic acid, phenolics and carotenoids), antioxidants and enzyme activity were determined at 2 day intervals during storage. The results demonstrated that low density polyethylene retained maximum chemical and bioactive compounds, higher antioxidant activity and lower enzyme activities during storage, while the maximum loss of quality was observed in control and paper wrapped sets followed by high and medium density packaging films. It was concluded that apricot harvested at commercial maturity stage and packed with low density polyethylene films along with ethylene scavenger (KMnO4) can be successfully stored at ambient conditions up to two weeks. Teaching English as a second language has always been a big challenge for teachers who offer their services at non-native settings. Moreover, it has not been less than a challenging for a teacher to teach error-free writing techniques to his or her students. It demands an extensive and untiring efforts to serve this purpose in terms of writing. The teachers in Pakistan always put their extra efforts to address the common grammar mistakes and errors committed by L2 learners in a target language.  The study was set to investigate common English language errors made by public and private college students belonging to both urban and rural parts of Sindh, Pakistan. The study found out the most common and apparent grammatical errors in students’ essays including passive voice, verb, tense, subject-verb agreement, prepositions, articles, plurals and auxiliaries.  Besides, errors were identified categorically according to their classification. The study involved 60 students and 20 teachers who were free to express their attitudes and opinions towards L2 English writing skills.    The findings revealed that there were various grammatical errors between the HSSC students of both urban and rural Sindh. All those errors were due to intra-lingual transfer. The study found out that intra-lingual transfer of errors were more rampant than the inter-lingual ones. In addition, the findings of study showed that the English writing skills of public colleges in Sindh need constant practice and drill.  Based on the findings, it is recommended that educators, policymakers as well as ESL teachers can get an invaluable language benefit. Moreover; this study will give teachers an insight to be well prepared before their learners for the target language. Finally, it is hoped that findings of this study would be a greater assistance in developing English writing skills among secondary students in Sindh, Pakistan. Get PDF
Four treatments (T0, T1, T2, T3 and T4) of supplemented flours along with control (T0) were prepared by supplementing tartary buckwheat flour in whole wheal flour @ 5, 10, 15 and 20% to improve the nutritional quality of chapattis. Supplemented flours and chapattis prepared from them were analyzed for chemical composition such as moisture content, ash content, crude fiber, crude protein, crude fat, phytic acid content, minerals (Fe, Zn, P and K) and nitrogen free extract. Supplementation significantly increased the all parameters except NFE and Zn content. Sensory evaluation of chapatti samples showed that chapattis prepared from 5 and 10% supplemented flours were accepted by the judges. Get PDF
In this article, the Adomian decomposition method (ADM) is applied to find the solution of HIV infection model of latently infected CD4+T cells. This method investigates the solution of ordinary differential equation which is calculated in the form of the components of an infinite series. These components can be easily calculated. The efficiency and the reliability of proposed method is demonstrated in different time intervals by numerical example. The derived results indicate that the approximate solution by using the ADM can be obtained in a more efficient way. All computations have been carried out by computer code written in Mathematica
