Investimento social na idade mídia - discurso e imagem da iniciativa privada na imprensa brasileira
A publicação é um estudo qualitativo sobre como os veículos de comunicação impressa interpretam e retratam as ações sociais empreendidas pela iniciativa privada no Brasil. Aliando as experiências e os conhecimentos que o GIFE e a Andi possuem nos respectivos campos de atuação, o estudo levanta elementos que apontam virtudes e defeitos no diálogo entre os atores sociais e a imprensa, além de oferecer recomendações tanto para fontes quanto para jornalistas
AVALIAÇÃO EXTERNA E AVALIAÇÃO INSTITUCIONAL: EMBATES E DIÁLOGOS PARA CONSTRUÇÃO DA QUALIDADE SOCIAL
RESUMO O presente artigo estabelece um diálogo entre os processos de avaliação externa de larga escala e de avaliação institucional participativa, a partir da análise de quatro modelos de avaliação à luz de categorias consideradas importantes dentro da lógica emancipatória vista como contraposta à lógica mercadológica. Com isso, propõe-se uma forma de análise dos modelos avaliativos que, longe de ser norteada pelas díades quantitativo/qualitativo, externo/interno, filie-se à lógica emancipatória. Por fim, discute-se a importância de eleger indicadores de qualidade coerentes à epistemologia decolonial, construindo rotas de fuga a uma leitura de qualidade educacional ainda marcada pelo imperialismo cultural e econômico. Trata-se, pois, de um trabalho contra regulatório que subsidiará a reflexão e ação dos profissionais da educação, devidamente articuladas com as forças vivas da escola e expressas num pacto de qualidade negociado, responsavelmente administrado em nome de um futuro comprometido com a justiça social
Avaliação de Sintomas Psiquiátricos Durante o Confinamento no Contexto da Pandemia COVID‑19 numa População Clínica Pedopsiquiátrica
The COVID‑19 pandemic implied the lockdown of the paediatric population at home, conditioning changes in academic and leisure activities and relations with peers and family. Children and young people with mental illness have specific vulnerabilities, which can be affected in a particular way. This study aims to evaluate the evolution of psychiatric symptoms ‑ in the domains of mood, anxiety and behavioral changes ‑ in a child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP) population during the lockdown due to COVID‑19. Data were collected through a telephone interview with the main caregiver of children/young people (for psychiatric symptoms and qualitative variables) and online filling of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Data were subsequently analyzed statistically in SPSS. The final sample consists of a total of 502 patients. There was a global increase in screen hours, along with changes in hours of physical activity and sleep. Additionally, there was an increase in symptoms of sadness, irritability, anxiety and behavior. It was demonstrated that these symptomatic variations were statistically correlated with the caregiver’s perception of the variation in the quality of the relationship during lockdown. With specific vulnerabilities, this population can be affected differently depending on the diagnosis and on the social and family context. Longitudinal studies are justified, as well as analyzes that identify risk and protective factors.A pandemia devida à COVID‑19 implicou o confinamento da população pediátrica no domicílio, condicionando alterações das rotinas académicas, das atividades de lazer e das relações com pares e familiares. As crianças e jovens com doença mental apresentam vulnerabilidades específicas, podendo ser afetadas de forma particular. O presente estudo pretende avaliar a evolução da sintomatologia psiquiátrica ‑ nos domínios do humor, ansiedade e alterações de comportamento ‑ numa população pedopsiquiátrica durante o confinamento devido à COVID‑19. Procedeu‑se à colheita de dados através de uma entrevista telefónica ao principal cuidador das crianças/jovens (para sintomas psiquiátricos e variáveis qualitativas) e do preenchimento online do questionário Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Os dados foram posteriormente trabalhados estatisticamente em SPSS. A amostra final é constituída por um total de 502 pacientes. Constatou‑se um aumento global das horas de ecrã, paralelamente a alterações nas horas de atividade física e no sono. Adicionalmente, apurou‑se um agravamento dos sintomas de tristeza, irritabilidade, ansiedade e em menor escala, do comportamento. Verificou‑se que estas variações sintomáticas estavam estatisticamente correlacionadas com a perceção do cuidador relativamente à variação da qualidade da relação durante o confinamento. Apresentando vulnerabilidades específicas, esta população pode ser afetada diferencialmente consoante o diagnóstico e o contexto sociofamiliar. Estudos longitudinais são justificáveis, bem como análises que permitam identificar fatores de risco e fatores protetores
Anthropometric and glucometabolic changes in an aged mouse model of lipocalin-2 overexpression
Background:: Lipocalin-2 (LCN2) is widely expressed in the organism with pleiotropic roles. In particular, its overexpression correlates with tissue stress conditions including inflammation, metabolic disorders, chronic diseases and cancer. Objectives:: To assess the effects of systemic LCN2 overexpression on adipose tissue and glucose metabolism. Subjects:: Eighteen-month-old transgenic mice with systemic LCN2 overexpression (LCN2-Tg) and age/sex-matched wild-type mice. Methods:: Metabolic cages; histology and real-time PCR analysis; glucose and insulin tolerance tests; ELISA; flow cytometry; microPET and serum analysis. Results:: LCN2-Tg mice were smaller compared to controls but they ate (P = 0.0156) and drank (P = 0.0057) more and displayed a higher amount of visceral adipose tissue. Furthermore, LCN2-Tg mice with body weight 6520 g showed adipocytes with a higher cell area (P < 0.0001) and altered expression of genes involved in adipocyte differentiation and inflammation. In particular, mRNA levels of adipocyte-derived Pparg (P 64 0.0001), Srebf1 (P < 0.0001), Fabp4 (P = 0.056), Tnfa (P = 0.0391), Il6 (P = 0.0198), and Lep (P = 0.0003) were all increased. Furthermore, LCN2-Tg mice displayed a decreased amount of basal serum insulin (P = 0.0122) and a statistically significant impaired glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity consistent with Slc2a2 mRNA (P 64 0.0001) downregulated expression. On the other hand, Insr mRNA (P 64 0.0001) was upregulated and correlated with microPET analysis that demonstrated a trend in reduced whole-body glucose consumption and MRGlu in the muscles and a significantly reduced MRGlu in brown adipose tissue (P = 0.0247). Nevertheless, an almost nine-fold acceleration of hexokinase activity was observed in the LCN2-Tg mice liver compared to controls (P = 0.0027). Moreover, AST and ALT were increased (P = 0.0421 and P = 0.0403, respectively), which indicated liver involvement also demonstrated by histological staining. Conclusions:: We show that LCN2 profoundly impacts adipose tissue size and function and glucose metabolism, suggesting that LCN2 should be considered as a risk factor in ageing for metabolic disorders leading to obesity
The Fourteenth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: First Spectroscopic Data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey and from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment
The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) has been in
operation since July 2014. This paper describes the second data release from
this phase, and the fourteenth from SDSS overall (making this, Data Release
Fourteen or DR14). This release makes public data taken by SDSS-IV in its first
two years of operation (July 2014-2016). Like all previous SDSS releases, DR14
is cumulative, including the most recent reductions and calibrations of all
data taken by SDSS since the first phase began operations in 2000. New in DR14
is the first public release of data from the extended Baryon Oscillation
Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS); the first data from the second phase of the
Apache Point Observatory (APO) Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE-2),
including stellar parameter estimates from an innovative data driven machine
learning algorithm known as "The Cannon"; and almost twice as many data cubes
from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA) survey as were in the previous
release (N = 2812 in total). This paper describes the location and format of
the publicly available data from SDSS-IV surveys. We provide references to the
important technical papers describing how these data have been taken (both
targeting and observation details) and processed for scientific use. The SDSS
website (www.sdss.org) has been updated for this release, and provides links to
data downloads, as well as tutorials and examples of data use. SDSS-IV is
planning to continue to collect astronomical data until 2020, and will be

Clinical Features, Cardiovascular Risk Profile, and Therapeutic Trajectories of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Candidate for Oral Semaglutide Therapy in the Italian Specialist Care
Introduction: This study aimed to address therapeutic inertia in the management of type 2 diabetes (T2D) by investigating the potential of early treatment with oral semaglutide. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between October 2021 and April 2022 among specialists treating individuals with T2D. A scientific committee designed a data collection form covering demographics, cardiovascular risk, glucose control metrics, ongoing therapies, and physician judgments on treatment appropriateness. Participants completed anonymous patient questionnaires reflecting routine clinical encounters. The preferred therapeutic regimen for each patient was also identified. Results: The analysis was conducted on 4449 patients initiating oral semaglutide. The population had a relatively short disease duration (42% 60% of patients, and more often than sitagliptin or empagliflozin. Conclusion: The study supports the potential of early implementation of oral semaglutide as a strategy to overcome therapeutic inertia and enhance T2D management
The 13th Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: First Spectroscopic Data from the SDSS-IV Survey Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory
The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) began observations in July 2014. It pursues three core programs: APOGEE-2,MaNGA, and eBOSS. In addition, eBOSS contains two major subprograms: TDSS and SPIDERS. This paper describes the first data release from SDSS-IV, Data Release 13 (DR13), which contains new data, reanalysis of existing data sets and, like all SDSS data releases, is inclusive of previously released data. DR13 makes publicly available 1390 spatially resolved integral field unit observations of nearby galaxies from MaNGA,the first data released from this survey. It includes new observations from eBOSS, completing SEQUELS. In addition to targeting galaxies and quasars, SEQUELS also targeted variability-selected objects from TDSS and X-ray selected objects from SPIDERS. DR13 includes new reductions ofthe SDSS-III BOSS data, improving the spectrophotometric calibration and redshift classification. DR13 releases new reductions of the APOGEE-1data from SDSS-III, with abundances of elements not previously included and improved stellar parameters for dwarf stars and cooler stars. For the SDSS imaging data, DR13 provides new, more robust and precise photometric calibrations. Several value-added catalogs are being released in tandem with DR13, in particular target catalogs relevant for eBOSS, TDSS, and SPIDERS, and an updated red-clump catalog for APOGEE.This paper describes the location and format of the data now publicly available, as well as providing references to the important technical papers that describe the targeting, observing, and data reduction. The SDSS website, http://www.sdss.org, provides links to the data, tutorials and examples of data access, and extensive documentation of the reduction and analysis procedures. ECMO for COVID-19 patients in Europe and Israel
Since March 15th, 2020, 177 centres from Europe and Israel have joined the study, routinely reporting on the ECMO support they provide to COVID-19 patients. The mean annual number of cases treated with ECMO in the participating centres before the pandemic (2019) was 55. The number of COVID-19 patients has increased rapidly each week reaching 1531 treated patients as of September 14th. The greatest number of cases has been reported from France (n = 385), UK (n = 193), Germany (n = 176), Spain (n = 166), and Italy (n = 136) .The mean age of treated patients was 52.6 years (range 16–80), 79% were male. The ECMO configuration used was VV in 91% of cases, VA in 5% and other in 4%. The mean PaO2 before ECMO implantation was 65 mmHg. The mean duration of ECMO support thus far has been 18 days and the mean ICU length of stay of these patients was 33 days. As of the 14th September, overall 841 patients have been weaned from ECMO
support, 601 died during ECMO support, 71 died after withdrawal of ECMO, 79 are still receiving ECMO support and for 10 patients status n.a. . Our preliminary data suggest that patients placed
on ECMO with severe refractory respiratory or cardiac failure secondary to COVID-19 have a reasonable (55%) chance of survival. Further extensive data analysis is expected to provide invaluable information on the demographics, severity of illness, indications and different ECMO management strategies in these patients
Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV: mapping the Milky Way, nearby galaxies, and the distant universe
We describe the Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV (SDSS-IV), a project encompassing three major spectroscopic programs. The Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment 2 (APOGEE-2) is observing hundreds of thousands of Milky Way stars at high resolution and high signal-to-noise ratios in the near-infrared. The Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) survey is obtaining spatially resolved spectroscopy for thousands of nearby galaxies (median ). The extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS) is mapping the galaxy, quasar, and neutral gas distributions between and 3.5 to constrain cosmology using baryon acoustic oscillations, redshift space distortions, and the shape of the power spectrum. Within eBOSS, we are conducting two major subprograms: the SPectroscopic IDentification of eROSITA Sources (SPIDERS), investigating X-ray AGNs and galaxies in X-ray clusters, and the Time Domain Spectroscopic Survey (TDSS), obtaining spectra of variable sources. All programs use the 2.5 m Sloan Foundation Telescope at the Apache Point Observatory; observations there began in Summer 2014. APOGEE-2 also operates a second near-infrared spectrograph at the 2.5 m du Pont Telescope at Las Campanas Observatory, with observations beginning in early 2017. Observations at both facilities are scheduled to continue through 2020. In keeping with previous SDSS policy, SDSS-IV provides regularly scheduled public data releases; the first one, Data Release 13, was made available in 2016 July
