Wave Equations for Classical Two-Component Proca Fields in Curved Spacetimes with Torsionless Affinities
The world formulation of the full theory of classical Proca fields in
generally relativistic spacetimes is concisely reviewed and the entire set of
pertinent field equations is transcribed in a straightforward way into the
framework of one of the Infeld-van der Waerden formalisms. Some well-known
calculational techniques are then utilized for deriving the wave equations that
control the propagation of the fields allowed for. It appears that no
interaction couplings between such fields and electromagnetic curvatures are
carried by the wave equations at issue. What results is, in effect, that the
only interactions which ultimately occur in the theoretical context under
consideration involve strictly Proca fields and wave functions for gravitons.Comment: Many improvements on the paper have still been made. In particular,
its title has been modified so as to conform further to one of its main aim
A rotating cylinder in an asymptotically locally anti-de Sitter background
A family of exact solutions is presented which represents a rigidly rotating
cylinder of dust in a background with a negative cosmological constant. The
interior of the infinite cylinder is described by the Godel solution. An exact
solution for the exterior solution is found which depends both on the rotation
of the interior and on its radius. For values of these parameters less than a
certain limit, the exterior solution is shown to be locally isomorphic to the
Linet-Tian solution. For values larger than another limit, it is shown that the
exterior solution extends into a region which contains closed timelike curves.
At large distances from the source, the space-time is shown to be asymptotic
locally to anti-de Sitter space.Comment: To appear in Classical and Quantum Gravit
Loading of a Bose-Einstein condensate in the boson-accumulation regime
We study the optical loading of a trapped Bose-Einstein condensate by
spontaneous emission of atoms in excited electronic state in the
Boson-Accumulation Regime. We generalize the previous simplified analysis of
ref. [Phys. Rev. A 53, 2466 (1996)], to a 3D case in which more than one trap
level of the excited state trap is considered. By solving the corresponding
quantum many-body master equation, we demonstrate that also for this general
situation the photon reabsorption can help to increase the condensate fraction.
Such effect could be employed to realize a continuous atom laser, and to
overcome condensate losses.Comment: 7 pages, 5 eps figures, uses epl.st
osp(1|2) Conformal Field Theory
We review some results recently obtained for the conformal field theories
based on the affine Lie superalgebra osp(1|2). In particular, we study the
representation theory of the osp(1|2) current algebras and their character
formulas. By means of a free field representation of the conformal blocks, we
obtain the structure constants and the fusion rules of the model. (Lecture

Theoretical Physics", La Plata, Argentina, April-May 1997).Comment: 16 pages, 1 figure, LaTe
New family of potentials with analytical twiston-like solutions
In this letter we present a new approach to find analytical twiston models.
The effective two-field model was constructed by a non-trivial combination of
two one field systems. In such an approach we successfully build analytical
models which are satisfied by a combination of two defect-like solutions, where
one is responsible to twist the molecular chain by , while the other
implies in a longitudinal movement. Such a longitudinal movement can be fitted
to have the size of the distance between adjacent molecular groups. The
procedure works nicely and can be used to describe the dynamics of several
other molecular chains.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
Nonlinear viscosity and velocity distribution function in a simple longitudinal flow
A compressible flow characterized by a velocity field is
analyzed by means of the Boltzmann equation and the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook
kinetic model. The sign of the control parameter (the longitudinal deformation
rate ) distinguishes between an expansion () and a condensation ()
phenomenon. The temperature is a decreasing function of time in the former
case, while it is an increasing function in the latter. The non-Newtonian
behavior of the gas is described by a dimensionless nonlinear viscosity
, that depends on the dimensionless longitudinal rate . The
Chapman-Enskog expansion of in powers of is seen to be only
asymptotic (except in the case of Maxwell molecules). The velocity distribution
function is also studied. At any value of , it exhibits an algebraic
high-velocity tail that is responsible for the divergence of velocity moments.
For sufficiently negative , moments of degree four and higher may diverge,
while for positive the divergence occurs in moments of degree equal to or
larger than eight.Comment: 18 pages (Revtex), including 5 figures (eps). Analysis of the heat
