Recursion relations for multi-gluon off-shell amplitudes on the light-front and Wilson lines
We analyze the off-shell scattering amplitudes in the framework of the
light-front perturbation theory. It is shown that the previously derived
recursion relation between tree level off-shell amplitudes in this formalism
actually resums whole classes of graphs into a Wilson line. More precisely, we
establish a correspondence between the light-front methods for the computation
of the off-shell amplitudes and the approach which makes use of the matrix
elements of straight infinite Wilson lines, which are manifestly gauge
invariant objects. Furthermore, since it is needed to explicitly verify the
gauge invariance of light-front amplitudes, it is demonstrated that the Ward
identities in this framework need additional instantaneous terms in the

Canonical Sasakian Metrics
Let be a closed manifold of Sasaki type. A polarization of is defined
by a Reeb vector field, and for one such, we consider the set of all Sasakian
metrics compatible with it. On this space, we study the functional given by the
squared -norm of the scalar curvature. We prove that its critical points,
or canonical representatives of the polarization, are Sasakian metrics that are
transversally extremal. We define a Sasaki-Futaki invariant of the
polarization, and show that it obstructs the existence of constant scalar
curvature representatives. For a fixed CR structure of Sasaki type, we define
the Sasaki cone of structures compatible with this underlying CR structure, and
prove that the set of polarizations in it that admit a canonical representative

Exploring associations between micro-level models of innovation diffusion and emerging macro-level adoption patterns
A micro-level agent-based model of innovation diffusion was developed that
explicitly combines (a) an individual's perception of the advantages or
relative utility derived from adoption, and (b) social influence from members
of the individual's social network. The micro-model was used to simulate
macro-level diffusion patterns emerging from different configurations of
micro-model parameters. Micro-level simulation results matched very closely the
adoption patterns predicted by the widely-used Bass macro-level model (Bass,
1969). For a portion of the domain, results from micro-simulations were
consistent with aggregate-level adoption patterns reported in the literature.
Induced Bass macro-level parameters and responded to changes in
micro-parameters: (1) increased with the number of innovators and with the rate
at which innovators are introduced; (2) increased with the probability of
rewiring in small-world networks, as the characteristic path length decreases;
and (3) an increase in the overall perceived utility of an innovation caused a
corresponding increase in induced and values. Understanding micro to macro
linkages can inform the design and assessment of marketing interventions on
micro-variables - or processes related to them - to enhance adoption of future

Comment on "Two Phase Transitions in the Fully frustrated XY Model"
The conclusions of a recent paper by Olsson (Phys. Rev. Lett. 75, 2758
(1995), cond-mat/9506082) about the fully frustrated XY model in two dimensions
are questioned. In particular, the evidence presented for having two separate

Phase diagram of an Ising model for ultrathin magnetic films
We study the critical properties of a two--dimensional Ising model with
competing ferromagnetic exchange and dipolar interactions, which models an
ultra-thin magnetic film with high out--of--plane anisotropy in the monolayer
limit. In this work we present a detailed calculation of the phase
diagram, being the ratio between exchange and dipolar interactions
intensities. We compare the results of both mean field approximation and Monte
Carlo numerical simulations in the region of low values of ,
identifying the presence of a recently detected phase with nematic order in
different parts of the phase diagram, besides the well known striped and
tetragonal liquid phases. A remarkable qualitative difference between both
calculations is the absence, in this region of the Monte Carlo phase diagram,
of the temperature dependency of the equilibrium stripe width predicted by the
mean field approximation. We also detected the presence of an increasing number
of metastable striped states as the value of increases.Comment: 9 pages, 9 figure
Circadian and Metabolic Effects of Light: Implications in Weight Homeostasis and Health
Daily interactions between the hypothalamic circadian clock at the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) and peripheral circadian oscillators regulate physiology and metabolism to set temporal variations in homeostatic regulation. Phase coherence of these circadian oscillators is achieved by the entrainment of the SCN to the environmental 24-h light:dark (LD) cycle, coupled through downstream neural, neuroendocrine, and autonomic outputs. The SCN coordinate activity and feeding rhythms, thus setting the timing of food intake, energy expenditure, thermogenesis, and active and basal metabolism. In this work, we will discuss evidences exploring the impact of different photic entrainment conditions on energy metabolism. The steady-state interaction between the LD cycle and the SCN is essential for health and wellbeing, as its chronic misalignment disrupts the circadian organization at different levels. For instance, in nocturnal rodents, non-24 h protocols (i.e., LD cycles of different durations, or chronic jet-lag simulations) might generate forced desynchronization of oscillators from the behavioral to the metabolic level. Even seemingly subtle photic manipulations, as the exposure to a "dim light" scotophase, might lead to similar alterations. The daily amount of light integrated by the clock (i.e., the photophase duration) strongly regulates energy metabolism in photoperiodic species. Removing LD cycles under either constant light or darkness, which are routine protocols in chronobiology, can also affect metabolism, and the same happens with disrupted LD cycles (like shiftwork of jetlag) and artificial light at night in humans. A profound knowledge of the photic and metabolic inputs to the clock, as well as its endocrine and autonomic outputs to peripheral oscillators driving energy metabolism, will help us to understand and alleviate circadian health alterations including cardiometabolic diseases, diabetes, and obesity.Fil: Plano, Santiago AndrĂ©s.
