Quantum coherence in the Dynamical Casimir Effect
We propose to use quantum coherence as ultimate proof of quantum nature in
the radiation that appears by means of the Dynamical Casimir Effect in
experiments with superconducting microwave waveguides. We show that, unlike
previously considered measurements of quantum correlations such as entanglement
and discord, quantum coherence does not require a threshold value of the
external pump amplitude and is highly robust to thermal noise.Comment: v2:minor changes, published version. 7 pages, 2 figure
Acute appendicitis is the most frequent cause of acute abdomen in childhood being the most common surgical indication in children and young adults. For identification, the anamnesis and physical examination are essential, however, its diagnosis continues to generate doubts, especially in the pediatric population. For a few years the complementary tests have become more relevant but without being free of drawbacks: irradiation, availability, doctor-dependent ... In the Mixed Emergency Services these problems are accentuated because it adds to the collapse by multiple requests, scarce resources and inexperience of the staff in children. For this reason, the use of diagnostic scales could be useful for professionals not used to exploring children since it would objectively identify those patients who continue to perform more tests, operate or send home. Objective. To determine the validity of the diagnostic scale Pediatric Appendicitis (PAS) performed by non-pediatric emergency physicians, versus histology for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in patients aged between 4 and 13 years, both ages included, in the Emergency Department of a Regional Hospital. Material and method. A prospective observational study will be carried out in pediatric patients who come to the Emergency Room with suspected acute appendicitis. The PAS scale will be completed by emergency physicians before being operated on surgically. The selected patients will be collected sociodemographic and clinical variables that will be recorded in a general data sheet by the research group

Anteproyecto de rehabilitación y mejora del Parque Municipal "San Diego" (T. M. de San Cristóbal de La Laguna)
In this preliminary project is proposed the improvement and the recovery of a
municipal park located in the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. It is on bad
conditions of usage and because of this, in my work, I pretend to complement it with a
new design of an urban park, in order to encourage the citizens to a public access where
people will be able to be in contact with green spaces, implementing the ecological,
urbanistic and social features. The zone is about 5.416 m2 which can be used, counting
with some bush, tree vegetation and herbaceous species, cyclopean wall, concrete
curbs, four luminaries and three concrete benches. This preliminary project is
constructed with the finality of giving the basic ideas of what, in the future, could be a
wider project of recovery and improvement of the municipal park of “San Diego”. The
proposal will hold the inclusion of new vegetation adapted to the climatology of the place,
with Ulmus minor followed by Schinus molle that as dominant species, as well as native
vegetation, for example Dracaena draco or as exotic plant, for example Strelitzia juncea,
from trees to act as windbreaker, acoustic barrier and that contribute higher degree of
protection and comfort to visitors, among other, to the shrubs and herbaceous plants that
can contribute of colour or relief landscaping. It is proposed to the enclosure around the
perimeter of the entire park, the illumination, the irrigation, the pavement type asphalt,
printed concrete and rubber, the sewerage system and the project location of the
furniture, because the park lacks all of these. The theme selected for the design is mainly
based on a functional design with zones with different activities like resting zones,
playgrounds, psychomotricity zones, a dog park and a picnic zone, in order to satisfy
each one of the park users. The new design for the “San Diego” Park in this preliminary
draft amounts to the General Budget of the quantity expressed of € 424,689.25.En este anteproyecto se propone la mejora y rehabilitación de un parque

BMI and low bone mass in an elderly male nursing home population
Little is known about osteoporosis in institutionalized older adults. Risk factors such as low body mass index (BMI) have been investigated in female populations, but remain understudied in men. The objective of this study was to examine characteristics of older men residing in a nursing home who received bone mineral density evaluations.
57 male Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) nursing home residents were screened for osteoporosis using a peripheral dual X-ray (pDXA) technique. T-scores were categorized into three groups: normal (0 > -1); osteopenic (-1 to -2.49); osteoporotic (< -2.5).
Average age was 76.2 years (standard deviation = 11.5; range: 48-100). T-scores indicated that 37.3% of the population was normal, 35.6% osteopenic, and 27.1% osteoporotic. 35.6% of patients had normal BMIs, 3.4% were underweight, 47.5% were overweight, and 13.6% were considered obese. There was a high prevalence of overweight and obese individuals (61.1%) in the osteopenic and osteoporotic groups.
As expected, there was a high prevalence of low bone mass in our population (62%). However, overweight and obese men were more likely to have osteoporosis and osteopenia, contrary to literature and clinical knowledge. This finding may be partially explained by the prevalence of sedentary lifestyle and relative lack of weight-bearing activity in this group of men
