Effective Theory For Quantum Spin System In Low Dimension - Beyond Long-Wavelength Limit
An effective theory for quantum spin system in low dimension is constructed
in the finite-q regime. It is shown that there are field configurations for
which Wess-Zumino term contributes to the partition functions as topological
term for ferromagnet as well as antiferromagnet in both one and two dimensional
lattice,in contrast to the long wave length regime.Comment: 8 pages (Latex), no figure
Physical realization and possible identification of topological excitations in quantum Heisenberg anti-ferromagnet on a two dimensional lattice
Physical spin configurations corresponding to topological excitations,
expected to be present in the XY limit of a quantum spin 1/2 Heisenberg
anti-ferromagnet, are probed on a two dimensional square lattice . Quantum
vortices (anti-vortices) are constructed in terms of coherent staggered spin
field components, as limiting case of meronic (anti-meronic) configurations .
The crucial role of the associated Wess-Zumino-like (WZ-like) term is
highlighted in our procedure . The time evolution equation of coherent spin
fields used in this analysis is obtained by applying variational principle on
the quantum Euclidean action corresponding to the Heisenberg anti-ferromagnet
on lattice . It is shown that the WZ-like term can distinguish between vortices
and anti-vortices only in a charge sector with odd topological charges. Our
formalism is distinctly different from the conventional approach for the
construction of quantum vortices (anti-vortices) .Comment: 21 pages, 5 figures, laTe
N = 2 Super Algebra and its Nonlinear Realization Through Super KP Formulation
A nonlinear realization of super algebra is shown to exist
through a consistent superLax formulation of super KP hierarchy. The reduction
of the superLax operator gives rise to the Lax operators for generalized
super KdV hierarchies, proposed by Inami and Kanno. The Lax equations are shown
to be Hamiltonian and the associated Poisson bracket algebra among the
superfields, consequently, gives rise to a realization of nonlinear super
algebra.Comment: 13, MRI-PHY 7/94 SNBC 06/9
The appearence of the resolved singular hypersurface {x_0}{x_1}-{{x_2}^n} =0 in the classical phase space of the Lie group SU(n)
A classical phase space with a suitable symplectic structure is constructed
together with functions which have Poisson brackets algebraically identical to
the Lie algebra structure of the Lie group SU(n). In this phase space we show
that the orbit of the generators corresponding to the simple roots of the Lie
algebra give rise to fibres that are complex lines containing spheres. There
are n-1 spheres on a fibre and they intersect in exactly the same way as the
Cartan matrix of the Lie algebra. This classical phase space bundle, being
compact, has a description as a variety. Our construction shows that the variety
containing the intersecting spheres is exactly the one obtained by resolving
the singularities of the variety {x_0}{x_1}-{{x_2}^n}=0 in {C^3}. A direct
connection between this singular variety and the classical phase space
corresponding to the Lie group SU(n) is thus established.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures, LaTe
Consistent 3D Quantum Gravity on Lens Spaces
We study non-perturbative quantization of 3d gravity with positive
cosmological constant (de Sitter space being the prototype vacuum solution,
whose Euclideanization of course gives the three sphere) on the background
topology of lens space, which is a three spheres modulo a discrete group.
Instead of the strategy followed by a recent work \cite{Castro:2011xb}, which
compares results in the second and first order formulations of gravity, we
concentrate on the later solely. We note, as a striking feature, that the
quantization, that relies heavily on the axiomatics of topological quantum
field theory (TQFT) can only be consistently carried by augmenting the
conventional theory by an additional topological term coupled through a
dimensionless parameter. More importantly the introduction of this additional
parameter renders the theory finite.Comment: New section and references added. Accepted in Phys. Rev. D for
