The role of environmental correlations in the non-Markovian dynamics of a spin system
We put forward a framework to study the dynamics of a chain of interacting
quantum particles affected by individual or collective multi-mode environment,
focussing on the role played by the environmental quantum correlations over the
evolution of the chain. The presence of entanglement in the state of the
environmental system magnifies the non-Markovian nature of the chain's
dynamics, giving rise to structures in figures of merit such as entanglement
and purity that are not observed under a separable multi-mode environment. Our
analysis can be relevant to problems tackling the open-system dynamics of
biological complexes of strong current interest.Comment: 9 pages, 12 figure
Slapping Ideology : an analysis of a new elementary structure of ideology on Instagram
Where is the ideology today?
Postmodern time is characterized by uncertainty and this uncertainty also makes
uncertain the meaning of ideology. This is because digital communication does not
help to understand the real meaning of words.
This research offers a contribution to clarify the meaning of ideology within this new
technological context. In the explanation of ideological phenomena, the main trouble
is based on this historical context, that is, the media power has no interest in promoting
a communication built on clarity and values of messages. It tries to persuade people
by giving an incorrect representation of the things. The goal of this cultural
investigation was reached using two principles: the principle of performative
communication and the principle of spectacular communication.
The application of the analysis was realized through an exam of Instagram platform,
considering its structure and functioning. The analysis is focused especially on the
composition of photos and captures of different kinds of users.
Are we still able to propose good images? Are we still able to control our digital
communication?
To sum up, the research wanted to prove that the control of digital communication is
possible, without giving up the use of images on Instagram.
Tuning non-Markovianity by spin-dynamics control
We study the interplay between forgetful and memory-keeping evolution
enforced on a two-level system by a multi-spin environment whose elements are
coupled to local bosonic baths. Contrarily to the expectation that any
non-Markovian effect would be buried by the forgetful mechanism induced by the
spin-bath coupling, one can actually induce a full Markovian-to-non-Markovian
transition of the two-level system's dynamics, controllable by parameters such
as the mismatch between the energy of the two-level system and of the spin
environment. For a symmetric coupling, the amount of non-Markovianity
surprisingly grows with the number of decoherence channels.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, PRA versio
Path-dependent equations and viscosity solutions in infinite dimension
Path-dependent PDEs (PPDEs) are natural objects to study when one deals with
non Markovian models. Recently, after the introduction of the so-called
pathwise (or functional or Dupire) calculus (see [15]), in the case of
finite-dimensional underlying space various papers have been devoted to
studying the well-posedness of such kind of equations, both from the point of
view of regular solutions (see e.g. [15, 9]) and viscosity solutions (see e.g.
[16]). In this paper, motivated by the study of models driven by path-dependent
stochastic PDEs, we give a first well-posedness result for viscosity solutions
of PPDEs when the underlying space is a separable Hilbert space. We also
observe that, in contrast with the finite-dimensional case, our well-posedness
result, even in the Markovian case, applies to equations which cannot be
treated, up to now, with the known theory of viscosity solutions.Comment: To appear in the Annals of Probabilit

This communication reports the role of polygalacturonate network on the Fe(III) reduction by caffeic acid. The effect of phosphate ions on the redox reaction is also considered
GPGPU for track finding in High Energy Physics
The LHC experiments are designed to detect large amount of physics events
produced with a very high rate. Considering the future upgrades, the data
acquisition rate will become even higher and new computing paradigms must be
adopted for fast data-processing: General Purpose Graphics Processing Units
(GPGPU) is a novel approach based on massive parallel computing. The intense
computation power provided by Graphics Processing Units (GPU) is expected to
reduce the computation time and to speed-up the low-latency applications used
for fast decision taking. In particular, this approach could be hence used for
high-level triggering in very complex environments, like the typical inner
tracking systems of the multi-purpose experiments at LHC, where a large number
of charged particle tracks will be produced with the luminosity upgrade. In
this article we discuss a track pattern recognition algorithm based on the
Hough Transform, where a parallel approach is expected to reduce dramatically
the execution time.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, proceedings prepared for GPU-HEP 2014 conference,

Off-Design Propulsion Power Plant Investigations by Means of Free Running Manoeuvring Ship Model Test and Simulation Techniques
Twin screw vessels\u27 propulsion system experiences strong off design conditions during tight manoeuvres due to the propellers inflow asymmetry arising from the coupled yaw-drift motion. Unfortunately, simplified mathematical models based upon statistical data or ad hoc executed captive model test (PMM or CMT) do not provide such a detailed information. Indeed, free running model tests are the best mean in order to get ship\u27s trajectory and kinematics parameters data and propulsion behaviour by recording the loads (thrust and torque) on the shafts. More insight into this complex aspect is desired in order to improve and generalize the application of existing manoeuvring mathematical models for the preliminary design of unconventional propulsive configuration control system
Backbone of credit relationships in the Japanese credit market
We detect the backbone of the weighted bipartite network of the Japanese
credit market relationships. The backbone is detected by adapting a general
method used in the investigation of weighted networks. With this approach we
detect a backbone that is statistically validated against a null hypothesis of
uniform diversification of loans for banks and firms. Our investigation is done
year by year and it covers more than thirty years during the period from 1980
to 2011. We relate some of our findings with economic events that have
characterized the Japanese credit market during the last years. The study of
the time evolution of the backbone allows us to detect changes occurred in
network size, fraction of credit explained, and attributes characterizing the
banks and the firms present in the backbone.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure
