On Chapline-Manton couplings: a cohomological approach

    Get PDF
Chern-Simons couplings between Yang-Mills gauge fields and an abelian 2-form are derived by means of cohomological arguments.Comment: 10 pages, LaTeX 2.0

Consistent interactions in a three-dimensional theory with tensor gauge fields of degrees two and three

All consistent interactions in a three-dimensional theory with tensor gauge fields of degrees two and three are obtained by means of the deformation of the solution to the master equation combined with cohomological techniques. The local BRST cohomology of this model allows the deformation of the Lagrangian action, accompanying gauge symmetries and gauge algebra. The relationship with the Chern--Simons theory is discussed.Comment: 21 pages, accepted for publication in Int. J. Mod. Phys.

Irreducible Antifield Analysis of pp-Form Gauge Theories

    Get PDF
The irreducible antifield formalism for pp-form gauge theories with gauge invariant interaction terms is exposed. The ghosts of ghosts do not appear. The acyclicity of the Koszul-Tate operator is ensured without introducing antifields at resolution degrees higher that two.Comment: 11 pag, latex 2.09, no figure

Nonabelian interactions from Hamiltonian BRST cohomology

Consistent Hamiltonian couplings between a set of vector fields and a system of matter fields are derived by means of BRST cohomological techniques.Comment: 21 pages, LaTeX 2.

Hamiltonian BRST interactions in Abelian theories

    Get PDF
Consistent couplings between an Abelian gauge field and three types of matter fields are investigated by means of the Hamiltonian BRST deformation theory based on cohomological techniques. In this manner, scalar electrodynamics, the Stuckelberg theory for Abelian zero- and one-forms, respectively, spinor electrodynamics, are inferred.Comment: LaTeX 2e, 25 pages, to appear in Eur. Phys.
