    The Governmental Efforts in Emphasizing Identity through Art Projects “Siwa Oasis studios as a case study”

    Within each culture, the multi-source origins play an essential role to form its distinct moral and aesthetic values, which emphasize the cultural identity. These values were accumulated through ages. That’s why every single cultural tributary should be traced, to demonstrate the extent of its impact on specific city identity formation.The Egyptian government pays due attention to Siwa Oasis because of its special historical and cultural characteristics. It happens in co-operation with one of the Culture Ministry sectors "the General organization for Cultural Palaces", that adopted the idea of reviving the project of city studios. Such initiative has been established before at the city of Luxor. For example, a financial and logistic support was provided for the initiative in a similar context.From this standing point, this paper provides a historical study about Siwa Oasis since its inception at the Ancient Egyptian era and through the Greco-Roman, the Coptic-Islamic era, and the Arab influences till now. Also, I will review the Siwa studios grant: procedures, different sessions and the most interesting aspect of it, which is the exhibitions.The historical and cultural overview will include: the Significant monuments in the city, location and environment, population and their language, traditions, and custom, and finally, the Siwa Oasis features nowadays.Reviewing the project stages will include: how to apply? On what bases the participants was chosen? Also, information about the time schedule, the site-visits, etc. Finally, I will analyze some artworks from 2009 till now in order to emphasize the importance of such activity on the cultural map

    The Role of the Jordanian High Schools in Deepening Good Citizenship among their Students

    The study aims to identify the role of Jordanian secondary schools in deepening good citizenship among their students. It also examines the obstacles facing Jordanian secondary schools in deepening good citizenship among their students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive survey approach has been used for its suitability of the nature of this study, where a questionnaire was designed and distributed to a 180-teacher study sample from the Jordanian government schools.The results of the study show that the degree of the role of Jordanian high schools in deepening good citizenship among their students from the standpoint of the study sample is generally medium. It also shows that the school principal’s role in developing good citizenship ranked first and the teacher’s role in developing good citizenship ranked second, followed by the role of activities and courses in developing good citizenship in the last rank. In light of the results of the study, the researchers recommend working on creating an appropriate learning environment that enables teachers to teach citizenship issues to students and provide school libraries with educational books and brochures that deepen and root citizenship values ​​to deal with all segments of society.     Prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of uropathogenic E. coli among people in Zakho, Iraq

    Background: Antimicrobial resistance in uropathogenic E. coli is of major concern worldwide due to its increasing resistance to several commonly prescribed antibiotics. The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence and to evaluate the presence and antibiogram pattern of uropathogenic E. coli among people in Zakho city, Iraq.Methods: 1120 urine samples were collected from people. Samples were screened for E. coli isolates and their susceptibility to different antibiotics was analyzed.Results: Diagnoses tests showed that only 106 (9.4%) isolates were E. coli. Females (90, 85%) were more susceptible to urinary tract infections (UTIs) than males (16, 15%) (p <0.05). The age 11-21 years old (23, 21.7%) was the most affected group (p <0.05). All isolates were resistant to penicillin, ampicillin and aztreonam. While, all these isolates were sensitive to imipenem and meropenem.Conclusions: The incidence of uropathogenic E. coli among people is comparable with reports from elsewhere. E. coli isolates are highly susceptible towards imipenem, and meropenem antibiotics, and highly resistant towards β-lactam and cephalosporins antibiotics. Education programs and improving the hygienic measures are necessary to prevent contaminations with E. coli and minimize the use of β-lactam and cephalosporin antibiotics

    Role of Jordanian Schools in Addressing the Effects of Cultural Globalization

    The phenomenon of globalization and cultural pollution is one of the most sensitive and dangerous issues that Arab world is witnessing today, which negatively affects the behavior of young people and adolescents. The current research seeks to reveal the role of Jordanian schools in addressing the effects of cultural globalization, in addition to revealing the challenges faced by Jordanian schools in dealing with these effects and acknowleging the appropriate school roles for the Jordanian educational system in addressing the effects of cultural pollution among the students of the basic stage in Jordanian schools.     Readiness for E-Tendering in the Construction Sector- Designing a Computer Programme

    Development of a country is measured by the number and quality of modern and contemporary projects that have been and are being established. As the construction industry is the nucleus for the development of any country, the stages of each project are tracked and monitored. It was found that the procurement stage has the biggest and most important influence in the successful completion of the project with the desired results. This research aims to eliminate corruption in the procurement process, identify the  additional factors relating to a contractor’s qualification that contribute towards an increase in the quality of the project; designing a computer programme that conducts the tender process electronically to avoid any human contact. The researcher designed a questionnaire which contains a number of factors that would increase the efficiency and quality of the project. The researcher distributed 50 questionnaire forms and received back 46 completed forms. The questionnaire outputs were analyzed by using the SPSS software which can be defined as a software package used in statistical analysis for data. After analyzing the results a nominal group session was held. This consisted of eight employees with technical, financial, legal, and supervisory and IT expertise. The work was collective and many questions were asked. All relevant factors were discussed. It was agreed to cancel three factors only as being irrelevant to the contractor's qualification process. The most significant findings were that if the organizations adopt the E-T system in the tendering process, corruption cases will disappear, the tendering process will be achieved with high level of integrity and transparency, and in order to implement the E-T system, the organization must be ready to change, the employees should have enough courage to adopt the system, and there would be a need for at least one person to play the role of champion/leader

The OMWW effluent is rich in several polyphenolic compounds. Liquid-liquid extraction of OMWW using ethyl acetate solvent was used to enrich phenolic compounds under investigation. Total phenolic and flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of the extract were determined. HPLC coupled to photodiode array (PDA) detector was used to analyze the main three phenolic compounds of OMWW, namely, hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol, and oleuropein. The antimicrobial activity of the extract was also investigated. Additionally, the OMWW extract was used as natural preservative and antioxidants for olive oil. Results showed that OMWW is very rich in phenolic compounds and has strong antioxidant activity. HPLC analysis showed that the extract contains mainly hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol but no oleuropein. The OMWW extract showed also positive activities as antibacterial (gram positive and gram negative) and antifungal as well as activities against yeast. The addition of OMWW extract to olive oil samples has an effect on the stability of olive oil as reflected by its acid value, peroxide value, K232 and K270, and total phenolic content

    Phytochemical Analysis of Cultivated and Wild Salvia Palaestina using GC-MS: Acomparative study

    The leaves of cultivated populations of Salvia palaestina (Lamiaceae) were collected from seven different governorates in Palestine to compare their phytochemical profiles to wild populations. Twenty volatile and semivolatile components were separated and identified by GC-MS. The major components in all the cultivated S. palaestina leaves were eucalyptol and camphor excluding one sample that was collected from Jericho. This sample revealed camphor as the predominant component (30.65%) while in the rest of the cultivated samples, camphor did not exceed 9.2% level. Moreover, thujone derivatives in Jericho's sample were abundant at high concentrations (28.9%) in comparison to other populations which did not exceed more than 2%. The wild S. palaestina leaves, showed eucalyptol as a major component in all samples from different locations with higher concentration than the cultivated leaves, while the later had a higher amount of camphor.We would like to thank the Central Public Health Laboratory CPHL staff, Ministry of Health in Ramallah for providing the GC-MS instrument for the analysis.
