    Challenges and opportunities of intervention of social workers in the trial process of delinquent juveniles: with emphasis on the views of some judges

    In recent years, several laws have been drafted and approved for the presence of social workers in juvenile proceedings, but they are still not implemented. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to identify the challenges and opportunities of intervention of social workers in the process of juvenile proceedings from the point of view of judges in order to provide plans to improve the position of social workers. Due to the fact that in Iran's judicial system, judges are responsible for the implementation of the law and the non-implementation of the law is to a large extent directed at them, therefore, in this article, the challenges and opportunities of social workers' intervention in juvenile proceedings were questioned. The qualitative research method is based on interviews with thematic analysis technique. Purposive sampling method was available with strong. The studied people include 17 judges. The findings show that the judges agreed on the necessity of the presence of social workers in the judicial system, especially juvenile proceedings. The main axis of the answers are concepts such as professional weakness, system inefficiency as challenges, restorative interventions and facilitating exit from proceedings as an opportunity for the presence and intervention of social workers

    Political unstability, less respect to the role of law, low life standards and suitable conditions for poppy/coca cultivation, have all affected on growing illicit drug international trafficking. Colombia is the center for global cocaine industry. Colombians had to use ship in the Carribean but now they pass Mexico where the costs are half of using ship. Mexican traffickers permit that the domestic poppy plants turned into herion, Colombian cocaine transited to USA and methamephtamine manufactured and distributed. Golden triangle in southeast Asia is one of the major regions for opium poppy cultivation. This region has seen many guerrilla warfare for selling illicit drugs especially in Myanmar. Manufactured hroin is usually dealt in Thailand. Golden Crescent region in southwest Asia has a suitable climate for opium poppy cultivation which provides necessay money for purchasing needed weapons by rival groups in northwestern border provinces of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Nigeria is one of the main centers for transporting heroin from Golden Crescent and cocaine from Brazil. Dominics run cocaine trade in New York and New England and Afro-American criminal organizations conduct heroin trading in big cities such as New york, Detroit, Chicago, Phila Delphia and Washington. Street trading of illicit drugs is mainly done by cultural or commanding gangs.     Elderly and Dissatisfaction in Family Relations (Phenemonoligical Study among Tehranian Elderly)

    This study deals with study of dissatisfactions of Tehranian elders in family relations in order to understand the nature, types and lived experience of the elderly in dissatisfaction in these relationships by using qualitative approach and phenomenology method. Sampling method was purposeful sampling with a combination of convenience and snow-balling strategies. The study population consisted of 30 elderly men and women in Tehran, which was done semi-structured deep interviews and data was analyzed by thematic analysis. The findings suggest that the elderly, while having neglect understanding of dissatisfaction, had multiple experiences of dissatisfaction and its types, most notably verbal abuse, physical abuse, emotional/affectional abuse, discredit and lack of care by family members. Dissatisfaction can be classified into five categories according to the types of abuses experienced by the elderly in family relationships: emotional dissatisfaction, verbal dissatisfaction, care dissatisfaction, economic and financial dissatisfaction, and physical dissatisfaction. The elderly have taken different strategies to deal with these dissatisfactions, most notably silence and tolerance, and selective exclusion. The findings indicate that the elderly, although experiencing duplicate and multiple dissatisfactions, but the form of this experience is’nt comprehensice and follows a different pattern among elderly people in terms of men/women, illiterate/literate, and employed/non-employed

    Amphetamine Type Stimulants Use in the Adult Population of Tehran: Implications for Long Term Rehabilitation

    Objectives: Dependence on Amphetamine-Type Stimulants (ATS) is a current health concern in Iran. The present study aimed to investigate the most needed treatment and rehabilitation services that a group of ATS-dependent patients in Tehran reported. Methods: The current study is part of the first cross-sectional survey of the prevalence of ATS dependence in Tehran. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data. Overall, 6027 men and women in the general adult population of Tehran were interviewed. Overall, 261 participants were ATS-dependent. Of them, 35 participants were interviewed in this qualitative study. Atlas-ti software was used for qualitative data analysis in compliance with the Grounded Theory of Strauss and Corbin. Results: The mean age of the participants was 32 (SD=11) years (age range: 18-60 years). The mean year of the schooling was 8 (SD=9). The content analysis of interviews showed a series of needs including rehabilitation not only treatment, brief psychosocial treatments, family education and engagement in treatment and rehabilitation as well as after treatment services such as case management to help them to re-integrate into society respectively. Discussion: The study results indicated that ATS dependence demands a combination of treatment and rehabilitation services. This concern demands long-term planning, designing and training, which should be considered by health service providers. Further studies are needed to determine which treatment or rehabilitation programme may work best for this group of drug-dependent people
